LINES-World of Magic

By the way, Erik, do you mean Trafe or Trade? And what is that?
Uhh... what??
Trafe = magical substance of raw chaos
Trade = nations sending each other goods that they can produce better than the other (Ricardo's Law)
Does that explain it?

@Disenfrancised: Make sure to let Azathoth's Shadow fall on Messina (Karthage's current capital) with great force.

Iggy: You ignored the project I mentioned last turn, both in my order PM and in the story, so I'll just forget it and ask for one extra turn on this new project instead:
Bringer of Wrath: Grandmaster Meremmor's personal warship.
Stats: Three times as large (in each direction) as an ordinary ship. Enchanted by mages hired from Songhai to fly. (permanently!)
Equivalent to 10 normal galleys in war.
Crewed by mages.

Please display on map? :p

OK.. just wondering because you made a typo in the story, and I was bloody confused by 'phial of Trade'

I still have no idea what you're talking about. What typo are you referring to? :crazyeye:

----------------------------------------------------

The seven archmages of Vol'Kiss had gathered in the now-complete basement of the tower, Geo-Tirith, that was being built in Vol. It had been a result of their desire to strengthen their own positions, by increasing the magical might Vol'Kiss possessed. As soon as the great tower's lowest portions had been completed, the archmages had ordered some of the best stoneworkers, masons, architects and woodworkers to design a handsome lair for them, aiming to have a meeting hall where they could decide upon their own affairs. Now it was complete, and after the careful removal of the constructors responsible for the locale, they had assembled.
'So, the question still remains: What really happened when we channeled the magics?' Khaeron, the previously handsome Archmage in charge of the western island of Vol, asked. 'We were wise in shielding ourselves against the spell, yet the disturbances caused by the necromancer lords were grave. I have reports from my apprentice, Qerah, that devastation reigns. The corpses of undead smolder or rot, and there is little nature to see. But how? How would a necromancer, or even a thousand, do anything to our magic? Our geomancy?'
'I have studied this phenomenon meticulously, Khaeron, and have discovered the reason.' Sharen leaned back in his teak chair and tapepd his finger on his burnt chin. 'It would seem our geomancy has not been entirely pure. You know, of course, that geomancy uses and abuses the earth, Gaia's heart and soul, and it's lifeblood to serve us? It is not this simple, however. Gaia does not wish to be disturbed. Indeed, I consulted a shaman on one of our conquered islands, and he told us that a long time ago, for just a period of hours, Gaia completely stopped responding to his ancestor's magic. They fear this event still. Yet! There is no sign of this interval in my personal library, which I am sure you understand is vast.' The assembled council nodded and mumbled. 'But what is it, then, I asked myself, before realizing the obvious answer. You all know that we summon magma spirits and fire elementals to do our bidding when we wish for information? This opened my eyes, as I thought of summoning one to question about the counterspell. It is simple, my friends; Our geomancy has adopted a streak of necromancy, more precisely the type of necromancy mediums use to communicate with ancestors.' The hall was completely quiet.
'I discovered that, when evoking the earth and Gaia, we actually evoke the souls of departed Geomancers.

Will finish this in a moment..

The Republic of Songhai seeks the secret of crafting iron. Please name your price, and Songhai will be glad to pay it (the best/lowest bid, naturally). This offer is for this turn only, so if you are the only one, you get the deal.
We'll throw it in with a peace treaty, maybe 2 eco points and peace for iron and we withdraw our claims to the territorries we conquered? You'll undoubtadly lose more than 2 eco points worth of troops if you attack us (plus remember my lands have a nasty habit of revolting) so I would think this would be a better deal.

Iggy: I just read the update in detail, and whatever possessed you to give Karthage TEN pts. worth of militia? Without even decreasing loyalty? Seems like the loyalty stat spawns armies from nothing. (Especially given that it's only 4 levels above starting. And that it enhances the performance of militia.)
At the beginning of the war I lost the equivelant of -300,000 population. Having reconquered most of my land, I didn't get any of the population back. I think 10,000 militia in exchange for 300,000 population is a fair trade. Plus you're the ones who went around slaughtering Karthaginians, they spawned from "nothing" just as much from your negative actions as my positive ones.

Germanic War
Germania
VS
Gorin, Avalon (?), Karthage (?)
Germany and Karthage are at peace, having signed a peace treaty before last turn.

To Songhai from Antarctica

Two eco. points each and alliance. Sound good?
If not I'm willing to negotiate but it would be proper form to pay 50% each.

To South Africa from Antarctica
Trade with us..

PS. To Iggy: My banked eco. was 6 last turn, right? It's 6 now, so that means I spent 8 eco. - 1 on infantry, 1 on galleys, 2 on education and 2-3 on roads totals 6-7 eco. ... ?
I'll add two eco. to my banked in my orders. :)

Trade proposals to all PC nations from Antarctica

To Abyssinia from Antarctica

Will you trade with us o ancient bountifoul land of Abyssinia?

To Avalon from Antarctica
Heralders of the north! We wish to make love with your scented goods and cotton textiles! Trade with us, please!

Elgovia
We do not know why your nations name sounds like that of a rather large mammal in our history books of the north but we wish to experience the exquisite north as we explore the perilous depths of the pine crates from your deep ancient woods! Give us this joy, this pleasure in our lives! Ohyes ohyes! Will you trade with us honorable North American?

Gorin
Land of midgets! You may have turned isolationist as all but the traders from Avalon might say but Antarctican ice is the perfect luxury to cool the brow of a hot-headed warrior or a sweating master smith! Trade with us oh midgets of Gorin!

Germania
Germania, land of the deep woods, share your bounty with us and let us usher into a new age of traaaaadeee!

Hyperborean
Your name is tantalizing and scary and evokes the image of a hydra yet we do not fear to be in touch with your kind! Please trade with us!

Illyria
Nice vowels and consonants, trade?

Indus Empire
Indians with cushy poster beds and marriage sofas: you cannot do without barracuda and whale hides for your temples of love!

Karthage
An empire struggling for greatness could surely use minerals from the great frozen south?!?!?!

Khemri
Oh Khemri of the distant past, please honor us with trade.

Sudafrika---- wha, you're a PC? (Hi Gladinia! :)) Trade with me now or DIEEEEEEE!!!
PS. I'm serious. I don't know why: your nation is just cuddly, cute and it would be a perfect way to get over the mistakes of the past. I'm sure we can forgive the north if we whet our thirsty blades in the stomach of your population. What I mean to say is: seriously, no reply on trade for 1-2 turns????? That is sacrilege!!!!!

Vol' Kiss
Kiss kiss, now trade?!?!?! :-)

Welikoslavia
Trade is good, trade makes sense. Let us trade.
Do you wish to trade with Antarctica?

To Songhai: PS. I sort of invited you and South Africa first, and it wasn't just an offer to trade. It's an unofficial alliance. Of course, rejecting such an offer twice in a row will insult me. I dunno how though, we would just see in the future. No threat though, really. I just hope to make good with the trading! Mmmkay...? ;) *sigh* I'm willing to give you an eco. point. That's a big gift in my eyes.

To Mongolia: Out of reach and in ignore, but I'll pop it off when I get into reach.

And since LordIggy has not answered my twin (or it may even have been three) attempts to 'contact all NPC w/ trade' I shall endeavour to do so again in more detailed form.

Spoiler thoughtedit: :
In retrospect this was a bad idea to do in the thread with the already long trade diplo., but I'm not breaking my stride so doom on you!
PS. Sorry, I am sorry; a little bit that is. On the bright side I had a sudden urge to alphabetize the nations!

To: Atlantis, Balaeria, China, Iroquois, Kojaro, Kyoto, New Atlantis, Vietnam, Ur
From: Antarctica

Warm pompy nations of immeasureable ancient glory, honorable conquest and eons of traditions: please trade with us! Yaaaaah!

To Antartica
From Khemri

Trade will commence in the near future

We however need to take care of something else first.

However we are very intrested in some of your goods.

Thanks. :-)
PS. What could possibly be more important then trade?

To Karthage: We offer you peace and a NAP for your Iron. As for our territory of Da'quar, Karthage will have nothing. The natives' "nasty habit of revolting" did not manifest upon conquest, and we doubt their supposed wish to return under Karthaginian rule. Many Songhai traders and craftsmen have settled there as well, rendering your claim obsolete and invalid.

We do not wish to wage war on Karthage, however, but we will not flinch if threatened with war. May we trade Iron for peace and end the hostilities between our nations.

To Antarctica, or more correctly Toteone: You do realize establishing trade routes costs 2 eco? I accept the proposal most warmly, but I don't see how you're going to make 10~12 trade routes without hurting your other economy level. Are you even allowed to burn eco levels in this NES?

To Elgovia: We did not commence our trade since one of us did not pay for the establishing of the trade route. If you are still willing to trade with us, please do so (if you haven't already)

Hahaaha prepare for your magic to go from Uber power to mega suckness...

Silversteak, you're treading a thin line here...

Spoiler true form :

Songhai, you're treading a thin line here by ignoring me continually.
I haven't hacked anything in this NES except for a few zombies!! Raarrgh!!
- Antarctica

edit: Or probably postponing it until we're properly in touch. Hrmpppf, I have Hawaiian contacts, we pretty much know of each other! So let us trade!/edit

To the small, isolated, defenceless nation north of south Africa with no comms with other nations and in a huge area where a few ten thousands of bodies would not be hard to dispose of:
Do you wish to trade or do you wish to fight a war with us?

Iggy you forgot my Ether Lords....

Well all the magics I cast are like watered-down versions of what I envision them to be.Temporary maddnes pffft....I wanted possesion and full homocidal insanity...not some lousy temporary madness.A vast undead army.....turned away by Baleria small pitiful army(even though I caught them on a suprise)despite the fact for each one of them that dies my mages can raise them as undead.I have yet a few spells to test but the current results arent to encouraging...lets hope they fare better.

And how do you use it?I've seen no mention of it but vampires, which cant really account for magic but as an UU.
