LINESII- Into the Darkness

Iggy, what is the food situation within my nation, is the land able to support more population, also what types of crops do I have?

(Second of 6: The Boatswain’s Tale, the Wainwright’s Tale, the Widow’s Tale, the Innkeep’s Tale, the Lady’s Tale, the Priestess’s Tale)

The Wainwright’s Tale

The road was quiet along the northern shore of Kehexou in the village of Kexoudau. Even in normal conditions, the village was sleepy in winter when the wealthy left for the cities. Now, even the most eccentric of the lords and ladies of the realm had abandoned their summer estates along the shore for Soloxau, Takrau and Palaxau. In the mornings, the village children played among the noble’s orchards, but in the afternoon their parents dragged them to the Temple of the Elements for their devotionals. All was quiet outside the wainwright’s store, located as it was at the edge of town. The Temple could barely be seen over the thatch roofs of the village.

The wainwright himself, an old and stooped man by the name of Loudahi, hobbled to and fro within the shop, preparing for the days when the nobles returned. For surely they would return, when the mists lifted, and then they would have need of the wainwright. The mists made his bones ache, however, and he was not prepared for the humid weather it brought in this time of midwinter when often he would be huddled under straw blankets for warmth instead. The mists had changed things when they arrived, two weeks ago, and the Lady Haraxu, the eccentric who paid him thrice the price for his work, had hurriedly packed up her estate and returned to the city. It wasn’t natural, she had told him, and she didn’t like it.

After she left, the tremblings had begun, small and barely noticeable at first, then stronger. Just the other day, a trembling had nearly brought a hammer down on the wainwright’s foot. His nimbleness came as a pleasant surprise, but now he had always to be wary, should another trembling come. He stepped out of the low doorway and onto the road. Ahead, through Lady Haraxu’s orchard, the sea was barely visible. The orchard stretched from the road to cliffs, where a short drop brought one down to the white beaches so often enjoyed by the nobility in summer. The mists had first swept around the foot of the cliffs before climbing steadily upward and into the village.

Now he crossed the road and found himself walking through the Lady’s orchard. It was eerily quiet, now: surely there should be upraised voices from devotionals at the Temple? But silence reigned. Even the crashing of the waves onto the sea had ceased, it seemed, or perhaps were simply swallowed up in the thick mists. The mists seemed to swallow much. He walked onwards, stumbling over one of the Lady’s apples, fallen now from its tree. He picked it up as if to eat it, though surely an apple fallen so late in winter would be small and sour, but it was rotten to the core. The mists kept things warm and damp when it should be cool and dry, and the surviving apples had fallen victims.

Now he stood atop the cliffs and looked out to the sea. The Lady’s house was visible to the east, perched atop the cliffs. He had never seen it before, but surely it must be true. He stared at it, eager to see some form of human life. Surely a guard had been left to prevent a peasant such as him from breaking in and robbing the good Lady blind? But he saw nothing. Yet, as he craned his neck, it appeared that something had begun to move, and suddenly he felt himself move as well. A trembling, he thought, and backed fearfully away from the cliffs. Yet the trembling grew in intensity, stronger than the one that had nearly dropped a hammer on his foot, stronger even than the trembling that had rung the bells at the Temple so vigorously that they had all fallen from their bearings and crashed through the roof. The trembling continued, and became more intense, and soon he was running from the Cliffside back to his hut, tearing through the apple orchard.

But then there was another sound, a distant sound, also a rumbling, but somehow different. Partially out of fear and partially out of curiosity, he turned to look back at the ocean, and what he saw frightened him. The mist was suddenly clearing from around the sea, and in the distance, something orange shot up from the surface. The sea was spewing fire. He ran.

Ah, I'm playing as New Veritas, but the three Valin nations are (in theory) supposed to have the same foreign policy, and I'll probably direct them.

The only reason Norvalin, New Veritas and Exilsium aren't one nation is because they're too far apart.

@Iggy: So I assume that the three Valin nations get the 2000 default spearmen, right?

To Nurmafer. we have Examined the Terms of the Agreement, and we must concure with the Swade. you must Evacuate the mountains. but It is not such a Big Movement as you think. the Agreement covers the mountains, and ONLY the mountains. If You Evacuate them to the north and tot he south, you will not be breashing the agreement. But Failier to Do so, will constute a Breach and Invasion. and I am Affreaid it will be considered a Decloration of war between us. We really do not want to fight you, but honor binds us.

You can base your explorations on our cities. We do not wish for another power to control some of our lands. These islands are our fastness, our security, and we do not wish for another nation to have a stronghold or port in them. We repeat, however, that you may base your expeditions out of your cities.
Can we make a base on the island which you have not settled yet?

Feanor now stood in Venustas. Before him stood the near finished statue of his father engraved into the cliff. Looking over the sea for all time. On the cliff across the small channel seperating stood his own still just starting construction.

Before him stood the royal precetion. Only a few days ago King Fasra the founder of Myocaca was dead. The defender of the land. The torch of freedom. A man who always dreamed of a free world. One that would not live in constant fear. He had driven back Emor and banished the Veritas. As well as being one man of great players in Veritas' fall.

Now Feanor stood. The old man's sword over his chest. In old precession. The men, women and children came to mourn the loss.

Fasra was 183 years old. A great testament to the long life of his people. Having become a legend in distant lands. Feanor was merely 47 years old. Expecting to live just as long if not longer.

Being carried on the back of his old Ramid Fasra was drawn down into the tomb. The great beast let out a great cry of mourning. Crying for its master. The sweet beast began to sing the ramid song of loss. The beast had never left Fasra's side. It would never again. The beast lay down beside the body. The beast collpsed and was dead.

Feanor walked up to his father. He held his hand over the emblem. With a crystal in the center embroided with gold and jade. Feanor brought his hand to his lips and down to his heart.

He began the great prayer. Singing in a mellow tune. He held his own medallion. This was his father's last journey. He would forever look out into the seas. Always watchover his people.

Feanor stepped up. He walked out head seemingly burdened.

The door was then shut and sealed. Two swords crossed over it. Blessed by the priest and given the final words of wisdom. The First King of Myocaca was gone.

Feanor steppe up, the priest held up the crown. Saying the speech of rebirth he gave Feanor and was dubbed King. Taking hold of the great spear of his father. He held it up.

"Fatwa! Fatwa! Fatwa!" The grand chant of Myocaca was sounded. The grand people marched. Feanor stood on his Ramid.

"People of Myocaca we now move forward this day. It was this day that we mourn the loss of our great father and protector. We must now take what he has left us and move forward. We must do what must be done. Give us the tools and we will finish the job. We are a united people and we will move forward!"

The procession rode off. Now the work continued as Fasra's toomed was laid shut.

We appreciate your input regarding the treaty, but our stance is what has already been stated. If you wish to send your soldiers to fight a war thousands of miles away from their homelands, we are not stopping you.

To: Nurmafer
From: Myocaca

We highly compel you to withdraw. Swade are our allies and we will follow them if need be. But we must warn you that Swade will not rest until you honor the treaty. i suggest you leave before needless blood is spilt.

Again, our stance is what has been already stated. Although we cannot understand why should we leave the lands which are and have for centuries been Nurmaferian, if you wish to force us to do so we are not going to stop you.

OOC: Well according to this treaty you agreed to leave. I mean look at Veritas. They all immigrated farther than any nation.

From: New Veritas
To: Myocaca

We will fight a war to protect our Nurmaferi allies, if necessary. Though we've been exiled, we will return to fulfill our original goal: The defense of Nurmafer. Perhaps the claim can be settled peacefully.

@Iggy, for the diplomacy I assume it was FROM Bandong and Faitei and not to.. How many more people can I support? I am aiming for a land density of say 200 per well, whatever we use to measure :D

@thalyli! Make a comment on my informal demand :P

To: New Veritas
From: Myocaca

We do not want war to brake out.

Well the mountains are practically on our doorstep alex...but we won't infringe on anything too close to Guangfei. Say, within 200-300 miles.

Did I mention, awesome update Iggy!

Story's coming tomorrow, finals are hitting me like an enraged panda on opium. :p

From Davar

According to our religion, we will not attack these people.

Yet you are foolish enough to believe they will return your courtesy?

we will be dispatching divisions of our Marchers to all frounts in this war

Shall these "forces" be assisting the side of the civilized or the barbarians?

OOC: Do you guys actaully believe there will be peace?
