Description: A devout, fair-skinned people, the Eldranians have lived peacefully in their valley for ages, never wishing to leave their peaceful valley, as all of their needs were provided for by their god Eldos (and their high priest, who they believe is his avatar). As a result, they believe they are the only people anywhere. But now, Eldos and Eldan have commanded them to expand...

I'll start in the northwest valley in the upper mountain range, with a red color...

Diaspora, 3:1

And so a time passed, and the peoples dispersed on their exile. Most of those on Tellus had forgotten the ways of the One already. Only those few people remembered. Only some persevered in their worship of the One.

They remained together, and came to a place in the Sea. Naming it Veritas, after their people, they laid out blankets, and gave thanks to the One for their safe arrival. For many had died on the Diaspora.

The Elders sat in council, and before their great Assemblum would be called for the first time, they argued. For their opinions were divided among them. Being corrupt but with good intentions, Chaos had given them each a different idea, and a different purpose.

Some argued that they would be nomads, passing from place to place and spreading the faith. Others advocated they make mighty fortresses, and train many soldiers. Others said said that they should delve in the earth, and create palaces of gold.

And as they strove in conflict, the One was worried. He saw Order dissipating among the Elders, even though they were his chosen people. So He spoke, coming down as if on a cloud.

"You are my Chosen, as none but you have kept the Faith. Do not embrace Chaos like your wayward cousins. As I am Order Itself, look at Me. You will see and learn your future.

And the Elders wept, for what they saw was great and terrible. The One placed a vision in their minds, and they Saw.

A city, one with walls white as if they were Light, and high as the greatest wave. Three walls encompassed a shining Quarter. And in it was the Temple to the One. The fair incense that perfumed the city wafted towards them. Massive columns of silver and gold wreathed the Temple like a crown. And thousands upon thousands flocked to the city, the strongest and most beautiful of the world.

And from their Isle of Truth, the Assemblum ruled the world. All peoples gave tribute and homage, and all worshipped the One, as it should be.

And the One took them back. And so he spoke again.

"This is to be your future. The Republic of Veritas will stretch and rule all, for I have Chosen you. But remember this! If ever you are to succumb to Chaos and the Void, your fate will be a hundredfold worse than could even be imagined.

So go, and build your world."

And the next day, the Assemblum convened. The Elders told them of their great vision, and in turn they told the People. And so there was great rejoicing.

And so the Assemblum commanded it thus:

Heretofore there shall be a great writing. And it shall be carved upon stone and metal in all villages, and in a great Temple that shall be built in Veritas. And so this shall be written:

All Men were created by the One.
All Men, to be free of Chaos, shall worship the One. Or they shall be cast out.
All Men will hold these to be Law: That Truth, Light, and Order are the tenets of our Faith. From these came Man, and all the Universe. And they are to be praised, above all except the One.

And so these things came to be known as the Three Maxims, and they were written on every stone.

So it later came to pass, that those following the faith were known as The Church of the One.

About my names: in the language that I just made up on the spot, Eld- means god or divine, -os means man or being, -an means servant or child, -rar means city, and -rania means land or country. So Eldos is "god-man" or God, Eldan (which is the name all High Priest take) means servant of God, Eldrar means city of God or holy city, and Eldrania means country of god or the Holy Nation.

Story:

In the beginning, there was the void. And then there was Eldos, the perfect deity who willed himself into creation. But Eldos was lonely, and wanted other creatures to share in creation. So he created Man. He created Eldrania, the Holy Nation.

But man was not perfect, not immortal, for unlike Eldos, man had some of the void inside him. And as a result, man could not sustain himself. So Eldos created the world, and created the valley, and the great city of Eldrar for the Holy Nation to live in.

And he gave his knowledge to all, and in his wisdom sent his will incarnate into Eldan, his avatar and Priest, to rule over all.

And he spoke thus unto the first nation:

I shall sustain you, for you are my children, and you are all one, equal in my eyes, the eyes of Eldos your god. And you are my only child, and this world I have created for you to cover, for when it is all covered by the followers of Eldos, then the void shall be vanquished forever. And I shall send you forth when you are strong, when it is time. And then, you will be fruitful, multiply, and cover the earth.

And time passed, and the Holy Nation grew under the watch of Eldan his Avatar, who was many people, yet the same. And the Holy Nation spread.

And one day Eldos spoke again, and said:

IT IS TIME.

And the Holy Nation went forth to cover the empty world.

@Thlayli: I know it seems like a ripoff, but trust me, the subtle differences will become VERY important later... like, when I meet another civilization. Remember, we think we're the only ones out there...

Sorry anyway though--I did have that idea before your story, and I've written other creation stories for NESes before, and there are only so many you can write... :)

Updated Map: Much less cluttered, as I've moved the country names to more convenient locations. However, I will name rivers and mountain ranges.

And andis, I assure you that this NES will be a survivor. I swear by the penguin overlord, blessed be his name and being.

If you could send orders today or tomorrow, I could update after school tomorrow as I have a 3-day weekend.

Do you think that I should just get rid of the power stat for units and just say that each age is twice as powerful as the last?

I agree with Thlayli, though it would be nice if we knew how many units we could get for a point (I assume it's 1000 spearmen, but only settled civs can build those, right? And how many warriors to we get, and can settled civs build them?)...

Orders sent--I have some unusual requests/orders, so could you read them and let me know if they're okay?

cool right in the middle :)

btw i choose the 1000 spearmen but i'll rewrite that thing today..
