LINESII- Into the Darkness

The Ambassador from Khemri stood in the city of Sanctus Tutela, The capital of Myocaca. King Alexander had simply stated. "Find people to trade with NOW,".

He was initially sceptical about attempting to trade with the Bladeist nations to the south. Having reputadly attacked a colony of Vertis, the people of Vertis had not responded. Possibly due to the Crystal Ridge Alliance moving towards Vertis proper. It was decided however that the Vertis people were too weak willed to get involved in a war, that although it was justified, the republic was in the hands of the peace movement. The Peace movement having gained considerable infulence after the succesfull peace treaty they brokered between all particpants in the Great war.

He had Stopped by Sempornia on the war to Sanctus Tutela. It Obviously had Vertis Infulences, and there was large Bladist Temple standing where the Church To the One once had. He was suprised that Sempornia was not retaken, or that Vertis had plans for such, it was symbol of being beaten by what from a Vertis view, could only be barbarians.

His arrival in Sanctus Tutela was uneventfull. Other than the suprisingly good reception his proposals had. He Found a way to Secure Raminds for use in the Khemrian Army. He simply provided the designs for such a machine and King Fasra had his Trident loaded with native two Raminds.

He requested samples of Luxuries and other trade materials that could be traded for in Myocaca to show his King and the traders of Khemri, Spices unique to the enviroment, amber, strong timbers. In exchange he promised to have the traders of Khemri come down soon. Promising Incense, Papyrus, Crystals and other finley wrought Jewelry. The List of Goods was endless.

OOC: Just a friendly dig at Vertis :p Expect my populance to have a "thing" for the "Rape of Khadon and Alexandria" :D

The Symbolism of the BIG cities is important. Actually My generals would appreciate Said, it was a daring raid, if a bit short-sighted in its goals, they often comment that it would have been best to secure good Supply lines and opted to a guerilla strategy until strength could be rebuilt. Although they are still a bit puzzeled on why the Khemrian Army did not meet the Vertis one in the mountains, both armies attempting to move through them.

Furthermore what is the status between you and the bladist nations? I assume your still at war :/.

Said was hardly "raped" in the same sense.

Can someone post the complete treaty so there is no misunderstandings about the terms? Thlayli?

Khemrian Monotheism had Fractured under the Invasion of Vertis. Indeed The peoples had turned to other faiths seeking to find Gods who would answer their pleas. Crystalism had proven Popular, being an allied nation. Of course this large Crystalism population could be attributed to Aquiring of Shalamari
Holdings in Nurmafer. Oundainty had spread, initally amoung the Tehx People, but it had gained a following, albeit small, further west. Oratheism is also to be found, although it was said to be dieing out, contact with Khemrians and the loss of reliable contact with Nurmafar, as well as the nature of Oratheism and its hate of Khemrians combined weakend its appeal. Khemri had after-all saved those cities from bandits, and the people were gratefull, and a bit suprised that Khemrians did not eat Nurmaferians alive.

It was the task of one Seta, A Scholary priest to spearhead the conversion of these peoples. King Alexander had emphasised that his people were to be united, thus he would not FORCE people to convert. But the recent Victories, by the Defender of The Khemrian Faith was to be capitlised upon.

He did not mention that this sidelined the Priesthood from organising any resistance to his peace proposal, some were still bitter after the Rape of Alexandria. This allowed King Alexandria to relax And concentrate on his true love, architecture, he would be known as the Builder. His ability to say to a soldier "comrade", "fellow campaigner" ensured that power units loyalty. Although the large amount of Royal Guard made sure that their loyalty was never in any doubt.

Thus Seta, began A dialouge with the different groups. He began to argue, to convince, he organised other Priests to do the same. They all did this with the aid of one set of books.

Kiso's Commentaries

Oratheism? I've never heard of such religion, where did you rip it off? ( :p )
btw, I didn't leave any nurmaferi people behind when I left. So I don't think you met any "grateful people" in the former nurmaferi lands :)

Preface:

I was asked by High Priest Thomas on my views of other Religions around the world, I replied with the stock answer. "Misguided, but essentially the same as our Faith, A god can only be interpeted in a limited number of ways,". High Priest Thomas then began to ask some difficult questions, pertaining to evidence for such an answer. It is well known that The High Priest is a member of the Empiciricist faction. Whilst Priest Elderad is a member of the Philosophers, seeking to find answers with the mind. Debates between these two groups are often heated, but never violent. Together they have progressed Our Faith onwards. I will look at all religions, try to base a commen ground, and hypothosise why their religion developed in such a way. Lastly I will Touch on our Faith, in the intrests of not biasing any readers to it.

Book I
A look at The Church of the One

The First thing one will notice of the earliest records of Vertis Religion is that they immediatly perceived that God is ONE. Something which it sadly took us a while to figure out. With the Help of some of our greatest Philosophers. I however question HOW they came to this realisation. My Initial thoughts are that they were at some point forced to flea to the island of Vertis. The lack of Contact with others reinforced a beleif that no other people existed. There was only one People, One God. Thus when they first landed upon the Mainland, those many years ago. They were unable to Comprehend other Gods, they saw them as fake, false. As Dreams are to a man Sleeping, a Temporay haven until someone came to teach them the truth. Indeed Vertis has proven to be Very Xenophobic, unable to accept the ideas of other religions. This is shown in that they subsumed The Zibonese, The Kalmars, and underwent the Wrath of Eldarania, to NO change to their Doctrine.

Their Creation is like all others, it establishes that Humans are inperfect, they are capable of Evil. Their God, Good in every single aspect cast them out. Thus is established one of the core tenants of OUR faith. Mankind is bound to make mistakes. Wether Guidance of Gods teachings is before them or not. Again one must wonder, if they were cast out Paradise why do they seek to invade it? Mayhaps Sin, the man who caused the People of Vertis is merely symbolic of the Vertis people as a whole. It is said in their Origins that many fell to the ways of Sin. It might be reasonable to Hypothosise that this group attempted to corrupt the History of the Vertis people. To set themselves in a better light. For indeed As mentioned in my previous Argument, who would invade paradise but Sin? If we Think that in this Paradise, people remained, they were made in God's Image, but were not cast out of paradise, as "The People of Vertis remained Together" [D 3:1]. On the Other Hand these peoples could be those of Sin, although it is not clear in the records that we have of the concepts of the Vertis religion. However I would argue for my previous Hypothesis, that the Current Church of the One was corrupted, the people of the Mainland WERE the blessed people of paradise. I would place this paradise in Khemri, it is and was the focal point of the Trade of goods. Food was bountifull, life was easy. Thus at some point the Vertis people were forced out and resided on the island. In their isolation they have become like stone, unable to accept new ideas, but attempting to reconcile their past. Thus they remain the greatest Enemy of Khemri, whilst still espousing many of the core tenants of religion on the Mainland.

OOC: Sorry about that Thlayli, but as I said, the Priesthood ain't exactly going to give you a glowing report. They will argue you to the Death. Maybe in 5 turns or so i can give a better view :D

N.B I will likly give a biased view of most religions, due in part to the year and and so on. This ain't the 20th centuray, its about 70BC OTL. And Remember this is the interpeatation of One Priest, I CAN read your stories. This is just an interpetation.

All Mistake will be put down to: imperfect records, bad translation, Biased People etc. :p

yes, but you are giving the impressions that there would be loads of people left behind :p

Interesting story, Kal. Will patiently await Kiso's account on Crystalism. :)

I detect some pointed comparisions with Eldism in Kal's story...what will he think of Eldism itself?

Looking forward to accounts of Eldism and New Eldism.

Book II
A look at the Dead Religion of Eldarania

This religion again has overtones, especially in the creation myth, of the inadequicy of man. "But man was not perfect". Again Like The Khemrian prophyt Sathya, a representive was sent to earth. One begins to wonder if this is the same person. Simply Interpeted in different ways due to our Relative Differences our nations early Society.

As such like the Vertis people before them, they were stuck in their view of others, of their culture, religion. But MOST importantly their ideas. Their Ideas were ignored. Destroyed from the face of the earth. Who Knows, maybe these peoples could have interpeted God in a way that is beneficial to all. Alas they were destroyed. One can only imagine how this interpetation of the Divine was reached upon. What Horrors in their past. Needless to say This campaign of destruction could not support itself for long. What would appear to be the first fractures in the Eldaranian World View appeared when they tried to justify copper weapons, originating from Deamons. It was only a matter of time before they fragmentated. Vertis spearheaded the attempt to destroy Elderania. It is not know what the Eldaranian people would have done, if left to develop from this point. I would say that their inherant strength would be tempered. The ideas that would have led to fracturing their nation, would also be harnessed, they would become more open. We will never Know however. As Vertis Wiped them out, some might saw rightly. It could be argued however that Such Destruction served No-one. Should not people be given a chance to prove themselve, or had Eldarania used up all those chances in that day and Brutal Age?

soul_warrior, give me an answer so I can do orders!

To he World
From Davar

We hesitate to sign the peace trreaty for the Gerber war. (as for the fact that for some odd reason I can't see it. Never agree to anything you can't see.)

We will however sign any verision of the Pacafist treaty that has been submitted and agreed upon by Veritas.

EDIT: Oh come on. Iggy you know he meant to give me bronze for the last two bloody turns. Just keeps forgetting. I doubt you'll do it, so if you won't do it this turn can you just automatically give it next one?

Book III

On New Eldism

Of Course, Eldarania didn't die out completely. And this is where I base my last Essay on, Indeed these two books should be read together. The last of the Eldarania was also a great thinker. For he had understood and accepted these new ideas. He is said to have appeared in Khemri and talked to the Two armies prior to a battle fought, inconclusivly outside of Mafar. The High Priest Managed to convince Some of the combatants on the evils of war. Obviously an infulence from the Destruction of Eldarania. But His travels through Khemri HEAVILY infulenced him. The Tenants of this New Faith, placed an important emphasis on learning, just as We Khemrian Priests wish to learn, we seek to understand God better. MOST importantly they have also undertook the key Tenant of Khemrian Faith at this moment in time, that all Gods ARE ONE AND THE SAME. Maybe the Eldism Scholer Priests just found their Travels in Khemri more receptive than elsewhere.

Another Important note is that the authors of the Records I have found, Admit to the possibiliy of bias and errors in the writings of their faith. Another Tenant of the Khemrian Faith. One Obvious point here is that when in the record here: [1]. When the Khemrian Armies jeer "Nikkal-Rae is the only God" it does not take into context the driving belief of this, that Nikkal-Rae is simply our interpetation of the One God. Just as Eldos is new Eldism's interpetation.

As it stands our Faith and that of New Eldism are very compatable, the major divergance is in the field of Peace. Khemri beleives that they must be strong to spread the word. New Eldism beleives that Peace should be acheived at all costs, bar more fighting. The recent new direction that New Eldism has taken, in appealing directly to the people, has struck me as rather blind. Rather than Appealing to all people, I beleive only the educated masses, blind to the problems of such a philosophy, and attracted by the idealism of the such a utopian world. Of these nations, those most hard-stuck will be the republics.

darken! dude!! come on, me and Thayli worked it out TOGETHER!! pleaaaaase just accept it for once ppllllllllleeeeeeeeeease

@Kal: nice stories! Come on, you know you want to be a republic...

@Darkening: I'll give you Bronze this turn if you convert...;)
