LizNES5: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying, And Love The Bomb

(Ukrainians would never call their country "The Ukraine". That is entirely a Russian invention. Ukraine, in Russian, means "Borderlands", and since it was usually near the Russian border, they would call it "The Ukraine", or "The Borderlands".)

(Um Omega, I hate to break it to you, but Ukrainians control the country today, and it is still called Ukraine...)

Since it's called the Ukraine by the Mod of this game I hate to break it to you but it's called the Ukraine.

Why should you stop me from helping when a country has been unjustly invaded, and the invader is asking for a large sum of the danish Homeland? perhaps you should assist them, then I shall have no need to have done such an action.

However, as a result of this Confederacy threat, the USMA leadership has decided it cannot spare any military aid, but they hope that some other brave country will take up the cause to help Denmark retain its rightful borders.

Your services in mediation between Denmark and Germany are not required nor desired, and we are certain we speak for the entirety of the European community when we say that we will not brook any military interference or aid in this affair by the USMA.

Our offer of neutral mediation stands.

We would be honored to send an ambassador to your nation on behalf of Her Majesty the Empress of the Dutch Juliana I and her government in the Staten-Generaal to your country, and will consider your terms.

Very well, start mediating. Germany forgets this isn't 1812. Nations have stopped fighting each other for little more reason then want of land.

While we are still hesitant about joining your alliance, we would like closer relations. Recent actions on behalf of the rest of the world.. have made us a bit more skeptical of our neighbors.

OOC: Working on stats..

Yes, I had you gain some land to the East. Indochina's orders were to invade roughly the same region as well. You can split up the turkey however you want after the war.

The order was to sweep north, not east, from my eastern border. It has nothing to do with splitting land, and everything to do with strategy.

I have met people from the Ukraine, and they have called it the Ukraine.

And the United States isn't a nation, it's a collection of relatively independent states.

OOC: Can someone tell me where I can find this backstory that New England mentioned?

The USMA wishes to ask you to extend the hand of friendship between our similar nations, and enter an alliance that will begin a great period of prosperity in our respective countries.

I know, but they wouldn't put the "the" in front of it. Its basicilly saying they aren't a country, just a borderland,

'The' doesn't exist in Slavic Languages so that doesn't even make sense.

PS: Germans would never call their country Germany, yet you are making no big deal about that.

Prime Minister De Vries Welcomes Afrikaaners to Staten-Generaal, Speaks Regarding Success of Economic Policies

Prime Minister Christofoor De Vries spoke at the Staten-Generaal before many other parliamentarian in welcome to Afrikaaner politicians to the floor. Readers may remember in De Vries' election in 1956, seats for Afrikaaner politicians on the floor of the Staten-Generaal was one of his major platforms, garnering him significant support from "pan-imperialists" who have moved in other areas for greater representation for Dutch colonies in the Staten-Generaal. De Vries speech contained several jabs to his political opponents, who he labeled as backwards and self-interested. In regards to his economic and military revitalization programs, the Prime Minister had the following to say:

"... Many of you have asked me why we should set aside government funding for loans for business to establish or enlarge facilities in the Netherlands proper and in Her Majesty's colonies. Many have you have been told repeatedly, but because I'm such a nice guy I'll tell you again. Do you know what factories make? Well, among other things, bullets. And every single ************ing bullet we put in every communist Mongol horse-lover head is going to say 'Made. In. The. Netherlands'. And why? Because you deserve it. Because there isn't gain without pain, you can't make progress without a little exploitation, you can't make an omelet without cracking a few eggs. And that, my friends, is why."

The Prime Minister's supporters in the Staten-Generaal have attested to the effectiveness of De Vries' speech, one Adriaans Dekaiser saying, "Men cried manly tears of awe, and women did whatever it is women do. Swoon, I guess. Yeah, that." Parliamentarian Hubrecht Meijer, outspoken enemy of De Vries and his policies, later said that Adriaans Dekaiser smelled funny and might be a communist.

German War Against Denmark, International Intrigue
Under the leadership of revolutionary German political figure Heinrich Kauffman Germany has turned all eyes to its border with Denmark following a military invasion of that country, ostensibly with the goal of returning Kiel and Schleswig-Holstein to Germany. The following conflict has drawn the attention of the international community, with calls from the Americas for Germany to end the war, and offers of assistance by the United States of the Mid-Atlantic to the Danish state, which were ultimately rescinded following expert geopoliticking by the Dutch government. Prime Minister Christofoor De Vries, who describes himself as a "... mostly peaceful guy, really. No, really. Are you saying I'm not peaceful? Do I look like I'm in a good mood, pal? Yeah, that's right. Run away." has made offers to host a convention at Rotterdam, presided over by himself, and being seated by German and Danish ambassadors, with the hope of arriving at a just compromise between the German and Danish governments and peoples.

PCAA Restores Order in the Congo
Among the many economic revitalization proposals by Christofoor De Vries which were ultimately passed by parliament this year was the mandate for the creation of the "Paramilitary Congo Administrative Authority" as a department of the Imperial Government with the goal of ending tribal violence in the Congo and allowing settlers and corporations within the region to go about their business without interference by the native population. The Prime Minister spoke briefly on the subject saying that "... profits are increasing. That makes me happy. I feel it's safe to say no one will be fired today unless my coffee is late." Reporters in settlements by Dutch colonials have brought back to Amsterdam a feeling of general security and confidence in the Dutch Imperial Government and the Administrative Authority.

Prime Minister to Visit The Ukraine
As one of many of the Prime Minister's plans for an increased Dutch presence in the international community, Christofoor De Vries has announced his intention to visit the Ukrainian nation this year, as a gesture of friendship to the government of the Ukraine and its people. Political analysts corroborate that this will be one of many movements on the part of notoriously anti-communist De Vries to ensure the stability of regimes under the threat of communism. De Vries was not available for comment, and reporters attempted to contact his secretary, who was unable to provide any information as she had been fired by the time we reached her. These reporters have been disciplined for their apparent incapability. Slavic linguists in the employ of the Gazette have confirmed that the correct terminology is "The Ukraine".

1858: Her Majesty's Forces invade Venezuala
1859: The Venezuala war ends in victory, east Venezuala is occupied

Independence from Spain was won in 1819, but by 1822, the new threat of colonialism by English powers had arisen. Having established a colony at the Mosquito coast, they were eager to take advantage of the wounded Gran Columbia to extend their influence southwards (into Honduras and Nicaragua and even as far as Costa Rica) while simultaneously opening a new front in the east where they conquered large swathes of Venezuela.

The English-Colombian war lasted for eight years and ended in a sort of stalemate. Ultimately a peace was agreed to though territorial concessions were never officially recognized by either party. Unofficially the English retained eastern Venezuela while Colombia gained most of what we now consider the Republic of Central America.

Maybe just change your date for the invasion to fit my time-line?
