LizNES5: Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying, And Love The Bomb

That is Belize. The Mosquito Coast is down in Nicaragua

The USA is very glad that a treaty could be negotiated on to end the danish affair, and thanks the Dutch for their efforts in mediating such a peace. May it last a long time!

Britain owns Belize, not the Mosquito Coast then.

I fixed them Thomas. I banked the EP you couldn't use for another level, as it would take 8 EP, whilst you only had 4 to use.

Announcement

In terms of Tech and the like, what about something like this. A player can only gain up to 3 techs a turn, be it from trading, or research?

Also, I've thought a lot about what Kozmos said. The various units.. i.e, aircraft carriers, fighter squadrons, etc. might be a bit much. Would anyone be opposed if I was to switch the various units to entire groups? It'd be a bit easier for me to mod, I think, and may shift the focus towards UU's.

What is everyones thoughts on the matter?

Simplification is always better that it being too hard to moderate.

Dont worry about tech, with the logic costing, it will very soon slow down once we hit levels 5 an 6..

Tech sounds good, but I have absolutely no idea what your talking about with the units

Giorgy hard at work

Giorgy is hard worker in Kirovohrad Metal Works. That is why he is this weeks winner in Ukraine’s Model Patriot competition. His diligent actions and running of labor committee in the factory has head to a 5% decrease in injuries, and a 15% decrease in waste. A truly impressive accomplishment. Kirovohrad Metal Work has informed FIRST that Giorgy is in line for a promotion. Everyone clap for Giorgy.

Now in recent politics, millionaire playboy and western leader De Vries to visits Kirovohrad. So remember wear your shirts inside out on May 15th so this westerner can't curse you and make you infertile.

An out pour of support from the west promises to bring a future of prosperity for our great people. Increased trade with the West will bring new and better paying jobs, more educational opportunities for our children, and a stronger fist to keep back the red bears that surround us and wish to consume us.

Also war continues to rage in places of no concern to us. Eternal peace will always reign, for we know that war is work wasted.

Newly elected president 1960B has announced a new infrastructure and industrial rejuvenation program in order to mobilize our work force for new trade opportunities opening up. Except many more jobs across all of the Ukraine! What a wonderful age we live in. Now we break for commercial information.

Tech sounds good, but I have absolutely no idea what your talking about with the units

I think he is thinking of going from having each unit to having, lets say.

In the navy you have 5 Fleets or tasks forces, instead of 15 destroyers, 10 cruisers, 3 conventional subs, 1 nuclear sub, 3 carriers, etc.

In land you have 10 divisions instead of 5 conscripts 3 regular, 5 tank battalions etc.

I liked the naval unites as they were. They permit a lot more possibility when planning strategic maneuvers.

Well Im all for Task Forces being an aircraft carrier, destroyers, and a missile cruiser or two but I agree that things like submarines and take divisions should still be separate. You can always get creative with orders with with those constraints.

Gotta agree with badanuff- each unit is one ship- its nice to know what they are.

Also, part of the fun for players is choosing the right unit to counter what you think the enemy will be using.

I know that sometimes its better to simplify things but if its the difference between a 4h update or a 5h update, i think its worth it. They add a lot to the game and oversimplification can also be a problem. No one is here to play checkers (not implying thats what it would be- just trying to illustrate a point).

yeah, keep the unit types. and give them stats like you did for SMW too please.

Our people are in awe of your great rail network in your country. Could we ask for you to send some of your minds to advise our ministers in our infrastructure rejuvenation projects. We would like to send the heads of our Transportation Ministry to visit and tour some of your wonders as well.

Perhaps there is something we can give back in return?

While we are still hesitant about joining your alliance, we would like closer relations. Recent actions on behalf of the rest of the world.. have made us a bit more skeptical of our neighbors.

As always, Russia is ready to extend the hand of friendship to our brothers in Africa, as I am sure is the case with the rest of the Comintern.

I think the same should go for all military types, but maybe its just me. Tanks should be used diffrently from infantry. Also, I don't think UUs will go up if there are less types of units.

At the same point, naval groups and the like make it a lot easier for me to mod. I ran SMW and all of it's revivals (I actually think their was only 1) for about 15-20 updates. The biggest killer their was all the differentiated units. The Destroyers, cruisers, different classes of dreadnoughts. And while I love it all, it's easier on myself to do so.

I'm not saying the update has to discuss each induvidual ship, I'm saying this allows people to win based on a good strategy rather than just throwing units at each other and seeing who is the last man standing.

If thats the case, then I am very opposed to navies becoming the equal of building a 'fleet' or 'group' in general. The individual ships add alot to the game, as do the land units. If you take them away, its basicly the biggest industry wins. Thats not what i looked forward to when i joined this NES. I think badunoff has a good grasp on what im trying to say, so just listen to him.

Agree with Bad and Arya. sorry TLK... their arguements make a lot of sense and i for one really enjoy putting together little strategy maps with what sort of units go where in my assaults/defenses.
