LK163 - AWM, India

@Greebley - please give a mid set update if we do secure a wonder and a GA.

I understand. Toughest two weeks of the year for play time.

So no immediate GA after imperialism - the techs are not known. Olympic games got built.

One alternative:
We could try a steal for Nationalism to build Antartica when we get the shields to get it in 1 (next turn I think). This might get us an extra steal chance at the GA if the two techs we want take long enough for the AI to research(try a second steal). It might also mean we miss arms race though if the techs come in when we are poor.

IMO GA is the most important. It will do wonders for all the cities building factories, and should speed up peeling a few steamrollers.

Nationalism is a good tech to steal. Besides the chance at a Wonder, it is the prerequisite for Communism. I vote for stealing Nationalism this turn either this turn or next turn.
Also, we will still have a chance at the building theTranscontinental Railroad.
If we trigger a Golden Age, check that the prebuilds for the Transcontinental Railroad do not complete early.

Greebley, sorry I did not think of this sooner.
If Hillstreet Blues is using a Factory for the prebuild, it will complete it next turn before you get to attempt to steal Nationalism. If you want to wait a turn to attempt to steal Nationalism, switch Hillstreet to Battlefield Medicine. Of course, if the steal attempt fails Hillstreet can switch to complete the factory it might have already completed and have 1 turn of shields overflow.

What tech are we researching? Hopefully toward Transcontinental Railroad. That production boost will really help.

Preturn:

Start Cruiser Project in Elephantine in 6 since it is close to the action.

IBT: Lose two Cavarly on defense.

AD 1914:
For Indochina I capture Hanoi. This means there are still some Chinese left to deal with next turn.

For reasons similar to Exeter, I am going to abandon Cape Town. Edit: another town got built in the same place almost immediately.
LK163_AD1914.png

Tough call but I think I want a some steam rollers early so I switch a few gas holders to Steam Rollers so we can get work underway.

I was noticing we have really horrible luck in our worker stacks. Several are one or two workers short of 1 or 2 turn rails. I will break up the stacks for efficiency (e.g. 22 stack becomes 12, 6, 4, so rails in 2 turns becomes rails in 2, 4, and 6 turn stacks. For the size 23 stack, I send an extra worker but it will take several turns to get there.

IBT: Lose some units including a close call on a town guarded by 2 Hussar attacked by 3 Adventurers.
Olympic Games completed by South America

1915 AD:
Hebron was only guarded by one defender so it falls to the first attack.

Near Exeter we lose a Cannon and two Cavalry to a MDI and Adventurer with one Cavalry red-lined. Won't be taking Exeter any time soon with those results.

1916 AD: Bunch of enemy units killed. Start moving on Megiddo
We have our first Steamrollers.
Get a leader.

1917 AD: Capture Megiddo.
Leader rushes a Factory in Utica.
Gain a leader which rushes Machinegunners in Academy of Kartikeya.

Improved Steam Engines is 5 turns but with MM for scientists, I get it down to 4 again.

IBT: Bad News, Britain builds Antartica this IBT, so we missed using it for a golden age by one turn.

1918 AD:
Several steam rollers are in our core. They are meeting near the Capitol to set up 2 stream rollers + 2-4 workers each.

Kill some enemy units. Bad RNG in some places really hurts. I was initially thinking of going after Zimbabwe, but we get 2 deaths and many retreats against a 3 Adventurers in the hills.

Notes:
Stopping after 5. I think 10 would take too long.

For wonders we have hillstreet blues completing battle field med and Imp steam both in 3 so I think we should be able to build the 2 RR and then the Wonder in 3 if we use the 'show big picture' when we complete improved steam. We need to decide the 2 rr towns.

Pushed for Steamrollers and we have 10. We should be able to build 3 rail a turn starting from our capital. We have some other stacks for 1 a turn, but are still trying to work out the stacking.

Progress is hard at the moment with so many fronts. Rails will help when we can use units where needed.

We could try a steal but without a wonder, I would prefer to wait for the two tech mentioned by Joe earlier.

Some cities have their units moved out to stop boat bombardment so the boats will go elsewhere. Southhampton now may have enough defenders to not redline every turn when that last unit fortifies, but not sure.

Image 1: Adventurers are a problem in the hills so not much advancement.

I like seeing rails by Academy in the pictures.
It looks like once again we have a stack of China in the area.

Until we get a rail net up, all we can expect is slow progress. I am glad to see a little more of Israel done. Any dead or weakened civ helps our cause. We need to slow down the troop overload.

We should try an Immediate Steal of Nationalism right now (I think S. Africa is the cheapest). Then when we have enough cash we should try another steal (either to get Nationalism or some other tech we are missing and not researching). My preference for other techs would be The Corporation or Motorization.

Preparing for a future Wonder build, Bombay should build Police headquarters after completing Industrial Center.

Suggested Prebuilds to get Transcontinental Railroad.
Switch Paris from Gas Holder to Telegraph/Telephone (due in 3 turns).
Switch Edrine from Steamroller to Telegraph/Telephone and switch 3 scientists to police (to get due in 3 turns).

Learning Improved Steam Engines will make Windmills obsolete.

When we learn Improved Steam Engines, look at the big picture and Change Paris from Telegraph/Telephone to Railyard and if necessary hire engineers to make sure it is built this turn. Then arrow ahead and change Edrine from Telegraph/Telephone to Railyard and if necessary hire engineers to make sure it is built this turn.
Now you can continue to arrow ahead through many cities to Hillstreet Blues and maybe get to switch from Battlefield Medicine to Transcontinental Railroad (we have not met the prerequisites at this point so it may not be available to select). If we could not switch or you did not want to arrow ahead that far, when Aydin completes its build of Cavalry go into its city screen and arrow ahead 2 or 3 cities to Hillstreet Blues and switch to Transcontinental Railroad (Paris and Edrine will have built Railyards by now so the prerequisites are met).

At this point I think we have a good chance of learning Scientific Method and building Arms Race.
Bombay starts a prebuild of Battlefield Medicine at 150 shields per turn (hire cop and/or engineers if need be). Bombay needs 150+ shields after corruption. When we learn Scientific Method look at big picture switch Bombay to Arms Race (600 shields) and choose Electricity -> ?
I am not sure which helps us more Atomic Theory (motorized settlers) or, if we have stolen Nationalism, Communism.
If we have failed to steal Nationalism at this point we might even fgo with Nationalism and Commusnism as our free techs and then study Electricity.

Pre-turn: The Immediate steal of Nationalism succeeds!

I pillage the Aztec road. That will reduce their harassment efforts on that front by a little bit - hopefully enough to make a difference while we get our railnet in place.

What happened to our Frigates near Belo Horizonte? Did someone disband them, or did they get sunk?

The railnet connects Delhi to El-Amarna, Academy of Kartikeya, and Carthage. After this IBT, it will also connect to Iznik and the Aydin to Tours area.

Possible next steps are:
* Completely connect Old Turkey
* Extend N from Carthage
* Connect all the cities in the Carthage area -- lots of Adventurers are coming through the mountains near here.
* Connect Angkor and Hanoi
* Extend the rails to Recife (precursor to connecting to the British/Israeli fronts, along with Old Brazil and Egypt)

The war has gone badly during my turnset. Lots of losses, terrible RNG. I think we'll see more progress in the next few turnsets, however. The railnet will help, we have a LOT of cities that can pump out 1- and 2-turn Sikh Rifles, and we'll be able to switch to Communism during the next turnset. New Barracks will help a lot.

Madras is building Theory of Relativity. Do we also want to build X-Ray Machine? It requires a Hospital in the city and increases science, so it helps to stack it with ToR. Either way, we should build Wall Street in Madras -- the extra trade will magnify the research boost.

Alternatively, we could switch Madras to Battlefield Medicine as a prebuild for something else and try to build ToR in Hillstreet Blues -- it has 20 more commerce. It will take 7 turns to build ToR, though.

Our core:

I see operation steal a tech continues to go well.

It looks like troop losses are still brutal.

It is very nice to see the rail-net improving. That is going to be the key for us to win this one.

I definitely see nice progress against Israel.
This one is still rough. I have a feeling we will go the furthest we’ve gone in the tech tree on this one.

I can’t tell from the pictures how hard we are pushing buildings. Our GA is the perfect time to get the expensive factories and gas holders up.

I see ... Elvis running around on the water???

At January 8th (as every year) there was Elvis Alarm. :D

But there is another unit issue, that really is astonishing me. In one of your screenshots near Kadesh there can be seen three cavalry units in one tile.
I´m not aware, that such a multiple unit is existing in CCM2.50. What is happening here ???
