I think the move 3 is the better choice. It doesn't really slow the overall win by more than a turn or two.

If the time for staging is a concern, we could have gone for airports before tanks as it really reduces getting units to their location. That is partly why I suggested it earlier as an option before tanks. We can get it next.
 
Flight will arrive my next turn. IIRC it is useless for transporting tanks. Those are the main units I'm building now.

Next week should have a report. I'm getting in a full 10 set. I'm working on turn 8.
 
I hope you are going to go for Radio next to get the faster and larger freighters to transport troops.
Based on my play style, I would rather have tanks than airplanes. Tanks can capture towns, Airplanes can't.
Also, I think airports are only useful to use as a prebuild for a wonder. For the shields it takes to build an airport you can build 7 tanks and 1 WWI infantry.
