I have tons of time to watch but not play civ IV. As such, I have been through most of TMIT and Absolute0's Let's Plays. I am looking for more Monarch or better Let's Players with good-ish commentary. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well, you already have been watching 2 of 3 that I know that put out content on a regular basis. The other is CaF, he does Let's Plays on Immortal, I enjoy watching his videos, gives me a different perspective on things. Not to mention, I'm a sucker for a German accent, lol

His YT channel is here http://www.youtube.com/user/KaF1987

If you come across any others, please let me know.

Nothing I have found in searching. Some Let's Play spammers running on Settler just to add to their playlists, but nothing worth while. Thanks for the link, i'll check this kraut out :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: ..... :yuck:

I'll check you out next for sure. Dirk Nowitzki's silly voice is going to be a tough act to follow, however!

Thanks again.

@vranasm

I just subscribed to your channel. The more Civ IV videos I can watch, the better off my games will be. I'm trying to play my last Noble game before I move up. I'm almost tempted to jump straight to Monarch and see how badly I do, instead of slowly doing my way up.

I'm also tempted to try and do a Let's Play, but I know how slowly I play because I overanalyze things and then usually mess them up anyways. So we'll see what I can do about making a LP on the lower levels. I know Boojingles won't be interested in them on Prince, but hopefully someone might if I settle there.

My mind is in a constant state of change, so I would gladly watch your princly vids! My original statement of wanting Monarch or better was an effort to weed out general Let's Players in favor of finding Civ Fans that make Let's Plays, ya dig? I don't need a demo of the game, I wanna watch how people play and think through this game.

Post me a link if you make any please!

since this kraut already got mentioned, I might add another guy here. And i assure you that my accent is not that bad :-)

Lymond is recording his Monarch Student 35, Mehmed game here

don't expect videos from me the next 1-3 weeks. my hands are bandaged. tiping is a problem. playing is boring as hell.

Wow lots of things going on while I've been away for a week....

These videos are excellent. I wish I could do them, but my computer doesn't have enough firepower to do all of these things. And I am rather shy about making my voice public. ^_^

Yeah, nice to see new people putting up LP's. Sometimes when I'm too tired to play myself (after a hard days work) it's fun to relax in the chair and watch others play. Better than most of the sucking TV-programs anyway. :)

TV does indeed suck nowadays. Very few programs I can stomach and I've never cared for this reality tv junk the cheap-a networks call programming now. I used to consider myself somewhat of a tv junkie too.

Anyway, good point about Let's Play. At first, I didn't figure they'd be all that interesting outside of watching a few for tricks, but they can be quite entertaining. Also, they can inspire me to play and try out new strategies.

Now, making let's plays is much harder than it looks, at least for me. I've been messing up left and right with the process. Recording 4 straight rounds without audio :blush:

Gwaja - We'd love to hear your voice :)

Kinda noticed that. Still, count me subscriber #12 (I think). Side note: Ghandi wiped out 1080 AD in my play thru. Elepult rush from the start.

@ Gwaja : I'm sure your voice is lovely and your play ain't bad either. :D

Overall, I made several mistakes in the early game due I think in large part to the process of making the video. I actually made a comment in one of the vids that was either lost or had no audio in which I stated that making a let's play is like driving a car while talking on a cell phone. I'm just not 100% focused and not used it really. The war with Gandhi should have gotten of the ground much earlier. Still, I think the game went fairly well considering that we were practically in isolation from a tech perspective for a very long while. The process gave even more props to AZ and TMIT for what the do with it.

:) I watched your Suleiman yesterday, getting into Stalin today. Your accent is wunderbar! No troubles understanding you at all. I'll take a silky european accent over the american nerd dialect (*cough ab0 cough*) anyday!

@lymond + Gwaja

So how can I find your Let's Plays, it would be nice to have more to watch even if there isn't audio.

@CaF
Your accent actually isn't that strong at all. I'm just a sucker for European accents.

And one last thing: I set up for recording last night with just a 2 minute video to make sure I got everything correct for recording video and audio. Now I just need to sit down and play. I knew recording videos was difficult, I just didn't realize how difficult until I sat to do one and went "OMG, I don't know what to say". So hopefully I will be able to get over my stage fright and not lapse into long bouts of silence while making the first few. If I don't get a chance to record any tonight, my goal is to definitely try over the weekend, so there might be some more viewing material coming up soon.

Can't wait for AZ's responce. :)

There are some great programs on TV though. Not to mention that NBA and NHL playoffs are right around the corner, if that's your thing. Also, there is this interesting new series about King Arthur coming out on Starz.

Anyways, I am sure that recording all these videos take a lot of effort, and every ounce of it is very appreciated in teaching and entertaining all of us here at CFC. Hopefully we can get more people to watch them and increase the view count so that videos won't have the hard limit of 15 minutes per.

Your last set of videos with Mehmed were very good by the way. I hope you do more of these! Thanks again. ^_^

My play needs a lot of improvement though. And I have a bad habit of playing this game while working and doing other stuff at the same time, which does distract me and lead me to doing stupid things in the game as well. But still, thank you for the compliment! ^_^

If I were to narrate my play, I think I would be one of the rare breeds on YouTube.

Lymond's videos are up and running, and the link is provided a few posts up I believe. As for mine? I don't have any, and I doubt I can do it since my computer spec isn't that great.

CaF's videos are great too. ^_^

I'll show YOU nerdy american dialect :p.

Machine specs shouldn't be too much of an issue usually. Civ is very processing cycle intensive, while recording requires moreso other things. If you set record priority "above normal" the recording shouldn't have too many hicups. Turns might be slightly slower but doubtful very much.
