M1:Warlord Conquest with special

(decloak)
Not to butt in but I would rethink building Spears. Your Legion is a very powerful UU. It attacks like a sword, and defends like a Pike and only costs 10 more shields than a Spear.

You are right Mistfit. We currently have 9, and I think that might be a little much. I saw alot of fortified legs also, near our highway system...Ninevah I think. We probably won't need alot of fortified units up there, since we should be sending a healthy amount of reinforcements through that area that could take care of any trouble. I think also, that we need to keep the contruction of our highway up with the expansion as well. One move units suck. We also have a couple of warriors to be upgraded. Um..that's all I can remember. I have never done a palace jump. what needs to be done for this, and is it even a good idea?

I don't really mind building spears all that much, as long as we don't have many, and they're all vets. They will be upgradeable soon, and then we aren't tempted to pull them out of a city for attacking.

Don't know that a palace jump will help us all that much here. It usually helps most when you have a well defined core that you are jumping to, which we certainly don't.

Sumeria looks rather large in the minimap there, why don't we sign someone on against them? Maybe even two somebodies....

Mauer is definitely right about the road network though. We need to keep it going forward as fast as our troops, and even then resupply is a nightmare. That's why force preservation is so key.

For the battle plan now: i would sign Mongols, and possibly Carthage in to the war. Use units in the area to attack cities with no defense bonuses, or stray units until we can get some cats into the area. Once the cats arrive, it should be slow going and just crush one city at a time.

BTW - Don't forget we can build colonies on the luxuries we can't reach, and on the horses if we don't have any. A spare source of something is a great way to sign another civ into a war, and ensure they stay in it....

You know........SesnOfWther is the smartest person in the world. Just ask him and he'll tell you. So when is the last time the Boston 9'ersox won a world bowl? Aah, strike that last comment as I just realised I am a cowboys, Ranger fan  .

Smartest in the world? Not in this lifetime!

Niners: 81, 84, 88, 89, 94, hopefully sometime in the future...

Sox: ........1918, but this is the year!

Roster? I have no clue!! (really, I'm in too many games to remember where I fall in the order, so even an occasional one would be good. I use 30 ppp, and I don't see one here...)

EDIT: Decided to not be too lazy this time.

This is conquest, so a GL is the most powerfull weapon we can have.

And the stupid you mean is called AI.

We're still going strong I see. Did we incur many losses taking Irin?

Did we incur many losses taking Irin?
Elite leg won, vet. leg lost, elite leg won, elite leg won.

I wouldn't have tried if this wasn't warlord. i think the vet. leg was the only unit I lost

I see it. Should be able to grab it and play tonight.

Looks like AK left me in a pretty good position.

@ sesn - there was an unroaded plains north of the river near rome/veii - I roaded it; I think it will stop us having to cross a river to move to the front and should speed troop reinforcements up. Also I took out the barb camp near antium on the peninsula so you may get some barb free turns. I also woke up the sleeping legs and got them moving to the front. I think I also started sending legs south to prevent Hannibal from getting "ideas" :) OT - somewhere I made a comment about your signature sounding like churchill, to paraphrase "war is too important to be left to generals"

IHT - Looks good. Someria has Feud, but I don’t see any pikes, yet. It does take me a while to locate our cats though.

450 ad (1) - Shoot blanks on 4 straight leader tries. Vet leg takes Ur, losing 1 hp. Elite AC wins and take Bad-tibira, lose 2 hp. Elite AC kills archer in the open.

IT - I let RoP with Mongols expire.

460 ad (2) - Lose an elite leg attacking an archer on a hill. Elite AC kills EW in Erech.

470 ad (3) - lose two vet legs attacking Ur, but two elites finish the job, gaining control of the Pyramids. Vet and elite AC kill reg archers. Lose vet leg flawless to EW on a hill.

480 ad (4) - Sumer deposes. Elite AC takes vet EW. Leg exploring out of Antium runs into a barb camp with 2 warriors and 17 horses. Elite leg kills reg archer. Vet AC wins and flawless promote in Erech.

IT - In perhaps the friendliest rng twist I have ever seen, our single whack a barb vet leg, standing on plains, unfortified, kills all 17 horses and 1 warrior on defense. He is left with two hp’s. :worship:

490 ad (5) - First off, I fortify the leg to heal, and rename him Mr. Whack-A-Barb. :D Elite leg kills reg archer. Lose 2 vets retaking Sumer, but another promotes. We had an elite win during the battle as well. Elite AC kills reg EW in Erech.

500 ad (6) - Elite AC takes Erech, finally. Cats are finally in range of a city, and go 4 for 7 in Kish. 2 elite legs finish the job.

510 ad (7) - Rush markets in Rome and Veii. Just now realize that the furs I have been roading to are unnecessary, and we won’t have any trading partners soon.

IT - Sumerians and Mongols sign peace. I turn them away.

520 ad (8) - Elite leg kills reg archer. I do the same thing again with a different result:
M1.JPG

You know, I was gonna complain about over 20 chances without a leader, but then I thought back to Mr. Whack-A-Barb, and decided I was probably square with the rng. Trajan runs to Ur, and quickly forms Sesn’s Slayer’s. They will undoubtedly make the rest of the game go a bit quicker.

Mr. Whack-A-Barb, now healed, finishes off the Etruscan encampment.

530 ad (9) - Elite leg snipes a reg archer. 2 elite AC’s take Kisurra.

IT - The Mongols finally get Feudalism. Too bad they have no iron.

540 ad (10) - Cats go 3 for 7 at Agade. 3 elite legs finish the job. Army is now fully formed, moves on the new capitol, Lagash. I know this says ten, but the turn is only 169, so I’ll play one extra. ;)

IT - An EW slips out the back door of Lagash, and is within range of Bad-tibira.

550 ad (11) - I let a couple cities riot. However, the road connecting Sumeria to the rest of our empire is now complete, so everybody should be rolling in luxes next turn. Divert the army to snag the EW, Lagash will have to wait a turn or so. Elite leg gets 2/3 archer.

Mr. Whack-A-Barb runs into another barb warrior with 18 horse buddies. At least this time we’re on a hill...

Recap: I don't see any way that I will ever see this game again. Fun little concept you came up with there, Mauer. :goodjob:

The MM is in poor shape, more than likely. I was a bit lax in that department due to lack of need. I will post a screenie of the current situation and my advice for the final war(s).

Declare on the Mongols now, they should only have spears, and probably only 2-3 per city. You should have all the units you need to take out the Mongols ready as per the screenie.

In 5 or 10 ten turns, you should be able to finish Sumeria, and round up all the units scattered in that area for a push towards Carthage. I have smaller forces positioned around for a multi pronged assault on Carthage.

Woohoo, an army hopefully I'll get to play with it before this game ends.

@Mauer - iI seriously doubt you will (or even can) foul this one up.
