M1:Warlord Conquest with special

*delurk*
Hmm, I always wanted to try a succession game. Just didn't have the temerity to actually join one. This one doesn't seem to be too high in difficulty though. So if you don't mind having a bit of a newbie amongst your ranks, by all means:

Sign me up!

Keiji, your signed up, and welcome :wavey: to the forum. And if scoutsout joins you will gain alot of knowledge, and tenacity :) .

Alright then, thx for the support, let's show these guys the glory of Rome!

Still waiting for one more sign up, maybe 2 if Dan doesn't come back. We could start with one more though. I agree with Sesn in that we should move the worker W on the BG to see if we should move our settler that way. I generally don't care too much for a coastal capital. Especially if the civ isn't seafaring. Thoughts?

After reading through several of the game threads, I find that criticism seems to be some what careless and rampant. I think this is supposed to be a fun game, and people shouldn't have to worry about "Did he say that jokeingly" or is he really a jerk. Maybe with a little more tact, and genuine humility, some of you guys wouldn't be bothered by this stuff so much. I will not play this game, or any other on this website. Thank you, and farewell.

OK, OK, that settles that  . Anybody that feels the need to respond PLEASE spare my game thread, and just send him a PM or something.
EDIT:I still think we can start with just one more sign up. Then maybe add another when given the opportunity.

@Keiji: Welcome to Civfanatics! :D

So far we've got Mauer, Keiji, Detlef_Richter... and consider me "pencilled in". If a couple of Regent/Monarch level guys show up... I don't want to deprive them of some fun...even if I didn't play, I'm sure this thread will get some de-lurks and pointers along the way if you guys want 'em.... (Sesn's tracking...and I bet he's not the only one.)

Tell you what... give me a day or three to dig through the text downloads of my old PMs. I'm pretty sure I can find another player...

Don't misunderstand me - it's not that I don't want to play, but I've gotten some PMs from players who I think would like an opportunity for a game like this. The problem you have here is that many Regent/Monarch level players don't follow SGs that closely...because there aren't so many Regent/Monarch level SGs...

... and by the way... Bugs2 never made it back to Sesn... so check one off my dance card. :D

I'm very sorry that I caused you to lose a player Mauer. :(

I will try to choose my words more carefully in the future.

If you end up being one short, then I'll step in, but like Scout, I think there are other players who maybe should get first crack at the slot.

Scout - I wasn't even in Bugs2. :hmm:

Sorry Sesn... I got confused... I was playing Bede2 last night... which we are in together.... Bugs2 just reached endgame... which was Ottomans...and we were in an Ottoman game before... (and yes, I ...er...umm..."had some fun" with the Sips...) :crazyeye:

No problem there :o loud mouth :p . He was in the Conquest Training game too, and hadn't posted his turn log there in like....um......not sure. But it had been quite a while. Anyways, I will probably play the opening turns on this tomorrow after work. The wife and kids are home now. Darn family :) .

This is what I'll do. I'll start the turns, with Detlef and Keiji following. If no other players have shown up by then, then either/or scoutsout and sesn can follow the next 2 open slots. If there heart so desires. If not then we'll just continue with a 3 man rotation untill we can dig up some more pompous warlords to fill in. And yes lurkers, hecklers, the fat, the skinny, young and old, intellects and idiots are all welcome to comment on gameplay :) .
EDIT: Before Sesn retires from the forum to, I better make it clear that the loud mouth comment was a joke  .
sort of!

 :band:
Yay! We suckered in another.

EDIT: If you guys want to give your opinions on the opening move, then you can get your comments in now. I'm going to

I just want to be clear on the rules. No settlers after IW. After IW, must be at war with one civ, can make peace treaty after 20 and then declare war on different civ. do we have to declare war on civs in the order we meet them or will anyone do?

Random thoughts (see One Flew Over the ****oo's Nest). Given parameters, (with apologies, if I'm being blatently obvious) see no need for granaries or boats. Really hope Iron is close. No point in moving settler to coast. Get the BG's worked, the warriors out to explore and the rax up. City placement for lux and/or shields. How fast do we research IW? If we go slow, gives more time to expand/explore.

If I slow everybody down, blame scout, his thread led me here.

correct

Anyone will do, but I didn't necessarily mean 20 turns. Just have to be at war with somebody all of the time. Be it for 1 or 1000.
I don't see any need for gran, boats, or a coastal move. Since ocean exploration, and food bonuses are pretty much out of the question. Shields, and gold is what were looking for. And IW needs to be discovered ASAP. So if we only get one settler built, or just a fraction of the map discovered then life is just too tough :) .

Head hurts - sounds like this is no research, AW (almost) :)

@ mauer - thought you were going night, night. Didn't expect a reply until tomorrow :)

@ Keiji - welcome to the team. I'm a relative newbie also.

Welcome Admiral Kutzov.

It looks that we should spend some time to find our ideal settling point.
We have time enough to do so and i think it's very important to find the best location. We have to search for a shield factory (for units and perhaps some wonders). Coastel citys, who cares, if we need one we capture one.

lurker's comment:
Good luck guys - if it weren't for my impending 10-day holiday, I'd have been tempted to pitch in myself (SG newbie, but I've just started hanging around in this forum).

If I may offer my £0.02 - given you're at Warlord, and you don't start with BW, research both BW and IW at 40 turns? Gives you more cash, and more time to expand.

Neil

I've looked to the start pic and i would also say that the W direction looks better for shields.

@Mauer: if you agree, move the worker W and post the pic to discuss.

Hey there, just dropping in my 2 cents. I agree with the general consensus that we should move our worker W and see from there. As you guys said I don't see the need for a coastal town on a pangaea map.
