MAKE THE PIE HIGHER
by George W. Bush

I think we all agree, the past is over.
This is still a dangerous world.
It's a world of madmen and uncertainty
and potential mental losses.

Rarely is the question asked
Is our children learning?
Will the highways of the Internet become more few?
How many hands have I shaked?

They misunderestimate me.
I am a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity.
I know that the human being and the fish can coexist.
Families is where our nation finds hope, where our wings take dream.

Put food on your family!
Knock down the tollbooth!
Vulcanize society!
Make the pie higher! Make the pie higher!

EDIT: Fixed the link. Thank you, jameson.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've seen that. Still pretty funny though....

a pitbull on the pantleg of opportunity?

I am going to use this phrase every day.

I had no idea that this was already commonly known. I saw it yesterday for the first time.

I saw it for the first time when it was reprinted in my university newspaper. I think it was originally in the Washington Post, and if memroy serves correct, it was back in 2002....

Always good for a chuckle :).

I think the OP meant to refer to this Snopes article instead though, which references where the quotes appeared and allows you to make a certain degree of sense of them.

That's the point... the text in the OP was specifically chosen for that purpose.
Specifically chosen? One could randomly put together a collection of anything W says and it would be the same thing, just different.

He's like Yogi Berra. Except Yogi was likeable, didn't have his finger on the button, and only pretended to not be smart.

I could randomly put together a collection of anything anyone says and it wouldn't make sense.

Yeah, I guess what I meant was that the OP is just the tip of the iceberg and that there is a plethora of material to choose from, because W so often makes no sense. Once could randomly choose just about any time W speaks without a strict script and find W-isms. I suspect you are smart enough to know that's what I meant, but I don't know it. :crazyeye:

"Mankind CAN coexsist with fish."
Ah, yes, MjM. But peacefully? Or is the pie not yet high enough for such things?

"The point now is how do we work together to achieve important goals. And one such goal is a democracy in Germany."—George W. Bush. Washington, D.C., May 5, 2006

I just thought that was funny. He seems to mispeak rather often, which makes this 'poem' easier than it would be for most people.

That is just funny!

That stuff about coexisting peacefully with fish had me laughing for some good minutes...

Well, the Bush misspeaks are far funnier than any senior leader in recent history, but being a Math guy one of my all time favorites is from Al Gore.

Oct. 25 2000 JACKSON, Tenn. (Reuters) — Criticizing Bush's Social Security privatization plan at a rally in Tennessee, Gore said, "He is proposing to privatize a big part of Social Security and he's proposing to take $1 trillion, a million billion dollars out of the Social Security trust fund and give it as a tax incentive to young workers."
A trillion is one thousand billion, not a million billion.
