I think it was on the discovery channel, some crime show, someone stole a samuri sword, then the police had to surround him, hose him down with a fire hose, and restrain him with a ladder to get him to surrender. I don't quite remember, but I though they said that.
It was proabably something like he stole it, and it was a priceless heirloom, like you said

Yes, Texas law allows you to defend your home from an uninvited intruder that is a threat to the occupant’s lives. But I assure you not all Texans sit on a rocking chair on their front porch stating, "Get off my property" to anybody who passes by. :)
