Warning, a lot of pictures in this post. Fb, I took your advice. Railroads and paratroopers. The game wasn't over soon.

    Spoiler :

11 turns to make Kubali capit. Now we are an unstoppable force. I gift a lot of units and techs to my vassals. Mehemed is gonna get it.

Do A BTS thing and build a canal to allow the ships through to hit the Turkish islands

The stack walks 12 turns from Mongolia to meet the boats

    ...and not a bad flotilla

Meanwhile back in Aksum, mining inc.

and then a LOT of this

I love hammers, and I'm prepared to pay for them, even if they just build gold :)crazyeye: ) Sushi also came in.

Trades all round to turn sheep and cows into hammers, food, gold and beakers.(I got back the seafood after founding Sushi)

In Turkey things are bad for Mehemd. A bit of this...

    A bit of that ...

    Then some of this..

    ..and then some of these...

    ..all adds up to this

But it took a lot of turns to convince him. I'm 16 turns or so over the turnset.

    Now to make some friends.

The world as it should be.

Further trades to nail every relevant resource on the map.

Also found creative construction just because the right GP appeared. It helps push back culture in the captured capitals.

Here's Aksum at it's height. OK it's a golden age, but I see golden ages as an integral part of corporations.

So a vassalizing domination win which was all started with an Apostolic vote to war on Gandhi.

I'm afraid I'm going to be late with this one.

Work has gone nuts - people on holiday + important deadlines moving forwards = Bad. Bah! :(

Have managed about an hour on the game so far this week.

Should be able to finish the turnset either tonight or tomorrow night, depending on what happens.

Apologies for delay. But don't let me hold you all up.

Computer problems, not sure when I'll post. Will probably just finish the game then if that's all right.

It appears the end games are becoming a bit stretched. There's not really that much to be gained at this stage by sticking to deadlines. Just play 'em out and post every 50 turns or as you finish. We'll have a recap after all the games are done.

    @mice

    Spoiler :
Nice job. Have you got a shot of your final victory and points?

Uni takes alot out of a person, so i'm gonna be late aswell.

Also Ozbenno, after this, could we have an Many leaders Game Unrestricted version after this? this has been so fun, and i'd love to have an unrestricted version. also the reason why i'm asking you to do so is that i could never menage such a big SG like this. :D

    Spoiler :
Turn 251 IBT Pliny says something about our big weathiness ( remember to brib... er ... subsidize him in the future :p ), Alex asks for help against gandhi, our colony asks for a tech ( given, of course... almost everyone knows Economics ) and AP stops war ( good that I didn’t helped Alex... )
    Spoiler :

Turn 252 trade mission to Washington: 2700 gold will mass upgrade happy archers

Turn 253 IBT Gandhi wants to be our vassal :crazyeye: ! I gave it a thought and declined it. Gandhi is weak ( lost cities in previous war and his power graph took a nose dive ), but is still the #2 in techs. No way I’m going to protect my closest contender to a space race

Turn 254 Gained my first GG.... Will make a milacademy in Libian ( for naval/land purposes ). And gave Betaville to Ramesses....

Turn 255 Finished Medicine... time to obsolete Glighthouse, unfortunately... research set in Corporation...

Turn 258 Corps are in ( research set in Rifling (will go to physics soon ) ) and....
    Spoiler :

    Sushi powered economy

Turn 259 A good event powers our capitol forge and Gandhi goes FR....2nd GG ( this privateer stuff is really .... :smoke: )
    Spoiler :

Turn 266 Hordes of Indian caravels amass my heavily promoted privateers near Delhi...Good for me, bad for them :p

Turn 268 Physics is in, research Electricity . got 3rd GG ( gotta love the privateers... )

Turn 270 Created new colony north of Mehemed , leaded by Hammurabi
    Spoiler :

Turn 273 KK is elected AP resident and Gandhi asks for our protection again....

Turn 274 Finally I regain control over bananas south of Libian...

Turn 275 Alex declares war to Churchill again ( the jerk can’t stay quiet :p )

Turn 279 Alex captures a English city, KK adopts FR ( good news: the AP is off ) and vassals Gandhi (meh... not good and not bad ). Got my 4 th GG (WTF? With no wars? :crazyeye: )

Turn 284 Ottoman declare war to America

Turn 285 Privateer era is over:
    Spoiler :

Research set on Kommunisma ( free GSpy ... )

Turn 288 Kommunisma is on, research set on Assembly line. First frigate privateer action ( my dear Egyptian colony decided to attack a privateer that was blockading America ( and them too  ) ) Decided do give some help to churchill, giving him Rifling ( he’s taking a good beating from alex and alex is some turns of getting rifling himself )

Turn 289 Our good learning system gives results....
    Spoiler :

Turn 290 Gandhi is pilling frigates... time to retreat privateers...

Turn 291 Some of our privateers didn’t made it... me and Gandhi receive a GG from our efforts ( 5 GG out of privateers alone... crazy stuff :D )

Turn 293 This came along ( time to buy coal? Maybe not...). research Radio.
    Spoiler :

Turn 296 Kremlin is on, some more XP from America ( with no love.... )

Turn 299 Gandhi wants to be our vassal again ( no way... ) and Radio is in. Research fascism ( for the GG... pilling GP for SS golden ages )

Turn 300 time to start destroying Gandhi’s cottages... spy work of course

    State of the world 1860
    Spoiler :

    Notes:

I believe that I’ll finish in next turnset. This is becoming a sandbox game: I pwned the AI in all aspects ( except espionage.... Churchill is outspending me ). Next turnset will be the usual SS path: Industrialism, Plastics, Computers,....

About colonies: they are somewhat useful, but they would be more if I went to war. They are providing trade routes for our cities, extra happiness, but not much more. Maybe in a more tight game....

After posting I realized I'd jumped ahead a turnset. Sorry about that. I hope it doesn't mess things up too much.

I'll post with the victory info in a bit.

Great game to play. I was happy with the UU and the UB, and all the BTS mechanics went my way this game. Now time to enjoy following all the other games through.

    Dutch Civilization
    Turns 250 - 300

    Spoiler :
Amazingly, at the start of this round, the Dutch are still in the Liberalism race. I don't think I've ever researched Liberalism this late in a game. Although it does give me an idea for an SG. Is it possible to take future tech from Liberalism? And what difficulty level would it have to be done at? I have no doubt that it would be doable at the Settler level, but frankly I don't think I want the tedium of a Settler game. Oh well ... back to the Dutch ...

There were 3 turns remaining on the Assembly Line research. After that, I researched Liberalism and took Industrialism as the free tech. This was followed by a badly needed and long delayed civics swap. I switched to Universal Suffrage, Free Speech, Emancipation, and Free Religion. Needless to say, it was a 2 turn civics swap.

And then time to decide on a victory condition. Culture is definitely out of the question. Conquest would certainly be doable, but a might tedious at this point in the game. Space and domination are certainly possible. Dominiation in particular, as it would allow me to have a look at the vassal system they put in place with Warlords (an expansion that I never owned). What about the UN? My opponent would be either Khan or Mehmed -- two folks who don't like me very much. I believe I have the lead in population; and Ghandi, Churchill, and Alexander all like me. Unfortunately, those are the 3 smallest civs. I might be able to pick up Washington's vote with some civics changes ...

My copper city, with all of its wonders, served rather well as my GP farm. Unfortunately, I never quite got around to building the National Epic. :smoke: So I ended up putting the National Epic in one of the eastern cities, where I had not chopped down so many forests. It was combined with a National Park.

I found the screenshot below to be rather interesting. Two turns after Alexander declares war on him, Ghandi puts up an Apostlic Palace vote to end the war. Alexander voted to end the war? :dubious: Surely the war wasn't going that badly after only 2 turns?

So I'd decided on a Diplomatic victory. I set research to Radio and then Mass Media. I used a Great Engineer that I had hanging around to build the UN in my National Park. I also built the Cristo Redento there, as well.

I researched Communism in order to build the Kremlin in my capital. The free Great Spy was merged in my capital, which is what I had done with the other Great Spys.

The first UN vote did not go so well. I guess diplomatic was a bad idea!!!!! :smoke:

I was really hoping that Khan would have been my opponent rather than Mehmed. Khan has the advantage (or disadvantage) of having declared war on almost everyone on the continent at one point or another. Against him, I would have had little problems. But alas, it was our friend across the seas, who won the vote. I didn't realize it at the time, but I would later discover a screen that would have told me who my opponent would have been before building the UN. :gripe: Sadly, building the UN would turn out to be the first of many, many mistakes that would be committed by myself during this round.

My next mistake was continuing to play! :p I should have quit for the night and reevaluated the situation in the morning. But nooooo. I came up with a plan to use my superior military technology to make Khan my opponent. Basically, the plan was to build some Marines and load them onto East Indiamen boats and start razing Mehmed's cities. Most of his cities were coastal and being defended by Longbowmen.

After building the boats and while training the Marines, I researched both Combustion and Flight. The Frigates would get upgraded to Destroyers to knock down the various city defenses. Air power would provide some softening up of the targets, as Mehmed would later learn the secrets of Military Tradition.

In the meantime, Mehmed starts proposing all of the civics resolutions. Fortunately, I had had already completed the Cristo Redento so that I had no anarchy. But the big benefit of that wonder was lost to me, having been forced to lock in the other civics choices. :shake: I was especially frustrated with Environmentalism, as I wanted to adopt State Property for the extra food. I made the most of it, though, by building Factories in many of my cities. Up to this point, I did not feel that Factories were worth the health costs for this particular game.

And then along comes Ghandi ... he wants to be my vassal. I'm thinking this would be a way to lock in his vote. As he would be my first ever vassal in any game, I didn't realize that I would take a diplomatic hit from every other AI in the game. :ack:

Speaking of India, does anybody else think Ghandi has enough Caravels? There are over 30 of them in that screenshot. Notice my Privateer sitting peacefully among all of them. :crazyeye: I stacked a bunch of them, with promotions, and sent them in with the intention of lowering Ghandi's fleet costs.

But finally the time had come ...

Our East Indiamen, loaded with Marines, are in position. But the original plan has now changed ... somewhat. With the problems brought on by Ghandi's vassalization, I realized that a true diplomatic victory was out of the question. My only option left was domination. Although, there was still a possibility of a back-door domination win if I can vote myself the winner of the game. In order to do that, I need population. That means keeping Mehmed's cities. My thinking was that if I already have one vassal, why not another? Since Mehmed's cities are all on islands, I can form colonies out of his captured cities. At least, I hope I can. The colony function does not seem to be available while the cities are still in revolt.

The war started on this small northern island. Mehmed's troops were no match for the Dutch Marines. Even less so once the Carrier's, loaded with Fighter support, caught up with the invasion fleet. As the round came to an end, Bombers are landing in the captured city of Kayseri.

The only item of real note in this war was a dialog box that I had never seen before ... I'd only recently read about it ... partisans!

The city in question was a 1 pop city that autorazed on me. And out comes a lone Janissery. I'm assuming that the number of partisans is tied to the size of the city. That Janissery wasn't much of a threat, simply providing some experience for a Marine. Semper Fi!

This round of 50 turns is probably destined for the hall of fame shame. It was pretty much an example of how not to play a game of Civ. And it all began with a really bad decision to go for a diplomatic win. The next round should go much smoother, though. At least I hope it will. If back-door domination doesn't work, then a domination win shouldn't be too difficult to pull off. I'll probably open a second front pretty soon against Alexander. Mehmed seems to have Alex in his back pocket.

Good idea on the post as you've done em idea... Mine would have been faster if not for 'jealousy' DoWs...

    Spoiler :

    Medicine > Railroad > Physics > Electricity > Refrigeration > Industrialism > Combustion > Artillery > Rocketry > Plastics > Radio > Satelites (unfinished)

War continues. Factories come in and I start making an inf/cav/cannon army to splatter mehmet...

Alexander decides to smash Churchill about...

In 1745 a small stack invades ottoman lands: 5 infantry, 4 cavalry, 3 cannon - just enough to take a city or two... but a steady stream should be following this.

1750 - Kayseri falls - longbows vs infantry is not pretty. That'll learn Mehmet to declare on me! :)
    Gazintep (1770)
    Sansum (1785)
1790 - end the war - not really gaining me much and I want my economy back. And in a hurry to move on. :)

In 1795 Kublai Khan and his vassal want a bit of me. CMON then! :)

Flatten a large stack in 1802. Here's my defenders. They attacked, then shot a huge stack to bits on the defense... see the xp totals. :)

1806 Perform a small amphibious landing into the mongolian city of Portland. :) Take it in hopes of ending this war soon.

1808 He sees sense - back to pleased again. :) Sign some trade deals as well. Gift Portland back to the other americans - the previous owners. Just to disrupt the subcontinent some more.

Paid 214g for a free great artist in Baltimore from an ice sculpture event... missed the screenshot tho. :/

Ibn Batuta - Great Merchant - born in 1770, used for sids sushi. 2 Great Generals from Mehmet war. Which is nice. Got a great Engineer for Mining Inc. 2 Great Scientists I blew on accademys. A Great Artist thrown to shave a turn and a half off radio.

The Pentagon 1775 (washington). Broadway 1810 (Washington), Apollo 1848 (Washington),

Build Wall street, West Point, Red Cross and National Epic.

GP pool pollution. Allowed this as GPs are no longer so important.

To celebrate the Malls, bloated army and bunkers, we throw the sixth and final golden age! :)

As I leave things, just on the cusp of building 3 gorges. Things seem going well. The opposition is frankly in the stone ages... however the next civ that DoWs me for no reason will get razed to the ground!

Thanks azaris, next set to 1930 it is. Is there a thread that lists these, I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Well done TheLastOne on the win but I can't see anywhere what year it was in.
