Also, do we need the SVN or v26?

Also, do we need the SVN or v26?
Thanks I will add your votes when I get back from work in 10.5 hours. I would say the latest full version so v27 then v28 when it's released. Still, first I'm getting votes and players sorted out then ill get the method worked out (that's why I'm closing votes soon).

BTW: Without Barbarian World, you won't have actual barb cities pop up until civs start learning Sedentary Lifestyle. So the 'one could start off right next to you' argument is nullified without Barb World.

Without Barbarian World barbarian cities start appearing at Tribalism not Sedentary Lifestyle.

If you are having Barbarian Civ on then you will have to make sure that you all have the same options for them - city size, met x players etc.

We absolutely should have NO AI civs EXCEPT if we agree to allow them to arise from barbarians (whatever that option is called). Reason is that with so many humans the AI civs will necessarily b distributed such that only some human players have AI neighbours and others only have human neighbours. That would be a huge advantage for the AI-neighboured players. New civs arising from barb cities is fine though - it's kind of up to you if you actively keep barb cities down or not in your vicinity.

I agree. The only AI should be the barbarians. And if they evolve into normal civs then that's fine. Or splinter off if we have revolutions on. We should start with only human players.

Le's start with V27 (next weekend right?), and update only as needed for major fixes in the SVN, by pre-agreement.

Ok so I'll agree with no ai players unless they spring from barbarian civs. Also... Acularius you are doing a text and screenshots lets play right? Well on your friends computer just take some screenshots then put em on a USB and take em home to write the text part of the lets play. It would be sad to miss the begging of a lets play :(

Oh btw, you will all be nice to me in this game right? I did set this all up after all lol ;)
*turn 11, lets all gang up on astralphaser, he won't know because our lets plays won't reveal our plan to attack until turn 20.

Btw episodes will be 10 turns long so think of it like this:
Turns 1- 10 - Episode 1
Turns 11- 20 - Episode 2
Turns 21- 30 - Episode 3
Turns 31- 40 - Episode 4

You will all have your own thread for your lets plays for people to comment on and the main game tracker thread will link directly to your lets play episodes so it doesn't matter where/how you post them because everyone will see them if they click your name in the main thread ;)

Yea when v27 is released I'll get this started ;)
Still a little more planning will need to be done on how to separate people's mp game from their single player ones because I am sure some people will want to update versions for single player and also the bug options too. Bug options change globally rather than for individual games so they may accidently change them not realizing it would effect their multiplayer game. I also need to upload the bug options folder...

Anyway you sure you don't want to do play by email? It automatically sends an email to the next player when you press enter and so on. Simply open your emails, then download and open the attachment... Or will the svn method be less complicated?

Yeah, my actual laptop should be back in +/- a week time due to repairs, since it was a custom built one from the U.S (They had a deal. :P)

So, I've been generally writing these posts from my Vita, and a not so good computer.
Knowing what version to download and ancillary files would be all I need to know in order to participate.
Hopefully, my harddrive on my actual laptop wasn't wiped in order to replace the problem with the DC jack. :/ (After looking inside, my harddrive shouldn't even really need to be moved)
Stupider things have happened though.

Just have them in separate mod folders and you should be fine.

Here's what we have so far according to my count. I'd like to give us all one last chance, if we could (please?), to review our selections and if you voted incorrectly according to your tastes or there are options unconsidered here, to go ahead and speak up - but quickly. I have an excell spreadsheet for this so I can easily update any posts between now and tomorrow. Fair 'nuff AstralPhaser? Don't mean to take away your 'roll' here... just wanted to auto-tally to make sure the votes were being counted correctly.

I added the excel sheet for any who care to download it. Will make for a good template for any future setups as well.

VOTING NOW CLOSED!

Ill finish off adding up the last few votes now and update the first post with the latest results. Please now my own votes have been added yet not stated so if you believe I have "miscounted" anything just know that my own votes have been added without me officially stating what I have voted for.

Once I am done adding the votes up Ill format everything with the colors read and green so you know what options have been selected. Once I make the official tracking thread for this game (in a few days) it will not list the votes, instead only the selected options will be displayed.

I added the excel sheet for any who care to download it. Will make for a good template for any future setups as well.
Great job for making that. We won't use it this time but next time it would be good because the current method took me hours!

What happens when you have a 0 choice? Will you have 2 votes? Meaning the vote you made plus the deciding vote.
Yes... But I didn't vote on all options initially. I only voted on 1/6th of them. Basically I'll not add or subtract votes. Instead I'll highlight them red or green to show whether they are enabled or disabled but if you seriously disagree with my choice the number will still read 0 so you will know which I have chosen and which I havent ;)

Anyway... Time to change all the text colours now ;)

Edit: Hmm... I've put the 0's at yellow for now. I don't know if I should be the one saying what they should be... What do you think? I did write this thread and spend lots of time (hours) adding up the votes... Should I vote on those yellow ones?

Edit 2: nah, I just chose the tied options myself. You can see the final chosen options here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=479123

Ok now its time for deciding how we will play this with multiplayer. When it comes to this I'm no expert so Koshling what do you suggest?

NO LONGER ACCEPTING NEW PLAYERS

Sorry I did this 24 hours earlier... I just want to make sure I get everything done on time for when we begin playing.

Multiplayer Method Sorted Out - No need for svns or giving me your email address/passwords

Ok everyone I've been doing a few file tests and I believe play by email would be the best method. And when I say by email... I mean by email. Having it on an svn or file sharing website would be hell complicated because how would you know when it's your turn?

Play by email requires you to simply enter your own email and password so that when you press enter its automatically gunna send the file by email to the correct person once its their turn. That way you know who's turn it is and can easily double click the file from your email, have your turn, press enter and then it will automatically send the file to the next person. You then simply quit and that's it.

I know none of you want to share me your email addresses little own your passwords so I will make all of you email addresses just to use for this game. I'll pm you your email address and password for this special game in a few days. That way ill be able to add them to the multiplayer game when I create it and we can just get playing with no complicated starts/needing to enter data or send it to particular people.

It will be a simple, receive an email when it's your turn, open and run the attachment, take your turn, press enter, close the game. All done. Great idea right?

I'm thinking the emails should be simple and similarly named as so:

AstralPhaserc2chumangame@gmail.com
Il_Principec2chumangame@gmail.com
Koshlingc2chumangame@gmail.com

These emails could also be used for private conversations between players and don't worry, I will give you all different yet simple passwords so you can't possibly hack/cheat the game or view other people's secret email conversations (not that you would anyway right?).

I won't be making the email accounts yet... I'll make them in 24 hours as long as you all agree ;)

Also note... When you first log into your emails gmail might warn you about your email being hacked or hijacked... Don't worry, this simply will pop up due to the accounts being created by my IP address in Australia yet being used by your ip addresses in another country. You won't be locked out of those accounts unless I log in and click "block access to your ip" but I won't be logging into your accounts for any reason. Also... If someone (or me, but I wont) does log it to your account it will warn you saying "ip from Australia (or wherever they are from) has logged into and possibly hijacked your account".

I'm not necessarily seeking to change it, but I have to wonder (from a game design curiosity point of view largely), why people voted for:

Larger Cities without Metropolitan Administration

To me that option just subverts the design intent of the met admin/tech unlocking, and I don't really see what I adds to gameplay...?
