Massive C2C Humans Vs Humans Game/Lets Play Setup

Yes, I'm interested

Now its a game.

I have to let Hydro have a chance at beating up on me somehow. :mischief: As I beat up on him here all the time. ;)

JosEPh :D

What I think would be hilarious is if somehow we became like allies and wiped the floor with everyone.

I do feel kind of like poor Joe's gonna get picked on and bullied, as game, as forum though, hahaha. Joseph, promise you'll use your experience in the faster speeds to put up a good fight, won't you?

Yeah Joe may be more skilled at this game if its on higher speeds. It should make for an interesting game. Especially when you have to play one turn at a time and wait.

I also have only played Civ4 once or twice on multiplayer and that was with vanilla Civ4. Never with a mod, let alone C2C. Having real players is going to be a big change. I think for most everyone.

We just have to remember to follow SO's advice and "Just Have Fun!". :goodjob:

EDIT: Hmm more BUG options? I guess ...

No Vassals- No
No Alliances- No
Sea Tunnels- Yes (I love theses even if they don't always work right)
Hide Unbuildable Worker actions- Should be up to player
Hide Unbuildable Build option - Should be up to player
Hide Obsolete Worker action - Should be up to player
Hide Obsolete Build options - Should be up to player

I will vote
No Vassals -NO
They make building a huge comonewealth so fun :) Imagine having 5 decent AI vassals and throwing those at other human players :)

I also got not much multiplayer experience. Only Against my brother and that usally ends messy. Last time ( unmodded BtS) it went well for me, then he nearly broke his economy with MASSIVE bribes ( not just gold, but also techs) to about every AI nation around, so that all exept my oldest ally turned on me and suddenly it was a world war. And thanks to his tech give aways they were actually a threat. So my spearhead on his continent suddenly was without support, new troops were needed at home.
Well he did loose in the end because I went with the downright dirty way: I patiently defended, build a ton of ICBMs and nuked about 70% of his empire in one go.

Are you guys even going to have any AI's? That should really be determined...

15 players total... If we get 10 playing there will be 5 AI's. if we get more players there will be less ai and if we get 15 players there won't be any ai.

Btw everyone I've been at work all day so I haven't been able to update the votes. Expect them to be updated however in a few hours, also my current single player lets play of c2c is on hold since managing this thread and the votes is taking away from the time I would spend doing my lets play. I'm find about doing this because I really wanna have this massive game but I'm just giving a reason as to why no episodes have recently been uploaded.

Also to when we will start this game I will make the save file around middday Saturday Australian time. The official thread for this game to track everything will be made on Thursday Australian time. So voting will be closed in 48 hours so I have time to make the official thread on Thursday. I'll warn you all when voting ends ;)

Anyway I'll get to work now on updating the votes.

Doh! I ment I want Vassals
What are vassals?

I'm in, although I don't know as to when.
Currently my laptop is in for repairs for the DC jack, since my adapter is fine by the looks of it.

Either way, I'd be willing to do a game, and a "Let's Play" of the game in progress as we go.

We will start around midday on Saturday gmt+10, will your laptop come back by then? Also... What kind of lets play do you plan to do?

Also is it possible to convert an ai player to a human player if he wants to Join us?

A vassal state is a state in which you have pledged to protect, and is subservient to you. You can demand resources from them, tell them what techs to research, you are both automatically entered into whatever wars may come your ways...

Just take a brief look into the civilopedia under "game concepts", or perhaps "Beyond the sword concepts" for the details.

Also, I believe both Praetyre and epi3b1rd have said they want to join in too, 12padams.

Ok so are we gunna choose our own civilizations to play as? I would like to do that so I can plan for an set up this lets play... If we do this ill add the name of your civilzation in the game so we can easily identify Eachother. If not we can all post what civ we turned out to be in the official humans vs humans game tracker thread. This thread won't be containing our lets plays but the first post will track the status of others lets plays and link to their individual topics and even episodes. Also... Who's still alive will be loged as well as what time people got wiped from the game. The tracker thread itself will be more for discussing the game, diplomacy, trades, announcements and so on.

Also to give me more time to set up other stuff I am gunna turn off voting for game options in 22 hours and turn off the joining of new players in 50 hours.

Well since Unrestricted leaders is winning I guess I will choose ...

- Civilization = Roman (I like their city/unit graphics plus European has some good cultures)
- Leader = Salamasina (Organized/Scientific/Cruel)

Note after the game starts I believe we can change our Leader and Civ names. Such as if I wanted to be "Hydro of Hydronia" I could be.

I had thought the consensus was that you all were going to be random?

I never personally locked in whether or not we would be random civs... I guess maybe we should do another vote... This will be a quick first come first served one. The first 3 people to say random civ means we will have a random civ or if 3 people say choose civ first then we will choose our civs.

I'll start it off with my vote for choose civ so if 2 more people say choose civ then that's what it will be unless 3 people say random civ first...

Also to make it easier lets all rename our leaders to our game names... So I'll be AstralPhaser ;)

Also, I believe both Praetyre and epi3b1rd have said they want to join in too, 12padams.
Where did epi3b1rd say this? I need to be sure before I add people to the list...

Edit: ah don't worry found it but I'll need him to confirm to make sure. I'll give him a pm but put him down as unconfirmed for now.

Although Random is fien with me , probably very balancing, if we get to choose:

Leader: Frederick
Civ: He could stay with Germany if we got restictions..else... some asian civ because I like their graphics.

So how specifically do we want to set this up from a server perspective? I would vote against using the development SVN, as that would become confusing and make it harder to find actual changes there. Would it be possible to set up a Google Docs or Skydrive for this and have the game send the saves there? Do you have any other ideas?

Just set up another Sourceforge project and use SVN. That way it's a separate SVN from the dev one.

Edit - also another issue on options:

We absolutely should have NO AI civs EXCEPT if we agree to allow them to arise from barbarians (whatever that option is called). Reason is that with so many humans the AI civs will necessarily b distributed such that only some human players have AI neighbours and others only have human neighbours. That would be a huge advantage for the AI-neighboured players. New civs arising from barb cities is fine though - it's kind of up to you if you actively keep barb cities down or not in your vicinity.

When this was 1st being discussed the consensus was Random Leaders with random traits. Reason, you have to play with what you're dealt and not what you are comfortable with.

And I have to agree with Koshling about AI's starting in the game.

Barb Civ allows Barb cities to become new Civs If they survive. But there is something to consider even on this. If a player finds a Barb city next to them at Game start capturing that city before Tribalism is a Huge advantage.

JosEPh

Edit: Also if Mastery Victory condition is chosen then all the others Do Not Matter. Mastery supersedes ALL Victory conditions. At least that's what it meant when Afforess put it in AND. Has it cahnged since then?

I think Barb world makes a a barb city for every player/AI... but barbarian should definitely be on or there are no animals to hunt unless the recently separated the 2.

I would like to say I'm 'confirmed'... the ETA of my laptop repair is in a week. I might not do a Let's Play for the first session, (because all the software is on my laptop), but I should be able to play in the first session by commandeering a laptop of a friend for a while. :P

As for the additional BUG options,
No Vassals- No
No Alliances- No
Sea Tunnels- Yes ( :D )
Hide Unbuildable Worker actions- Should be up to player
Hide Unbuildable Build option - Should be up to player
Hide Obsolete Worker action - Should be up to player
Hide Obsolete Build options - Should be up to player

I'm up for Mastery victory so long as the time victory condition is on, otherwise I don't see the point.

Edit:
I'm up for random for leader, but I would like to choose my civ for the artstyle. :P ( I have a penchant for the Japanese artstyle.)

ALSO.

My timezone is, UTC - 5:00 (USA/Canada Eastern Time zone) [Toronto, Ontario - Closest major city]
Daylight Savings ending November 4th.

I am all for civs coming from barb cities. And they are no huge advantage before tribalism: Barb cities take ages to grow, so you probably got to tribalism before they reach size two.

A couple of additional points for me.

1. I think that we should fill up all remaining slots with AIs. The thing is that while some people may get AI neighbors, It would not be IMO that big of a deal, and having a full complement of civs for a map will make the start positions better from my experience. So it would be the lesser of two evils for balance IMO. Also, I like having Barb civs become AIs as well.

2. I'd prefer to choose our own leaders. I'd choose Churchill or Charles V personally.

1) Don't care if we have any AI players... I lean towards Koshling's view on that as its another random variable that may make things easier or harder for a few - at least changes the games of some. But then... map position itself is the greatest unavoidable dreaded variation potential anyhow and moreso than any AI civs.

2) I'm going to stay neutral on the choosing leaders scenario. Don't give a hoot what civ I am - I can change color and details in the game. BUT IF we go with a non-random leader selection, I'll be Attila.

BTW: Without Barbarian World, you won't have actual barb cities pop up until civs start learning Sedentary Lifestyle. So the 'one could start off right next to you' argument is nullified without Barb World.
