What happened to you man? You were so enthusiastic about C2C. Is it because SO did not like your audio quotes?

Actually I honestly lost interest months ago (possibly last year) when koshling announced he practically wasn't going to do multimaps. That feature and the ability of discovering and colonizing new planets (while being able to start as cavemen) is what made me so enthusiastic. I held it back but each turn I've taken I've been more depressed. It feel horrible that I started something I can't finish. I don't want to give up because who will update the threads first post or my lets play?

If someone was willing to take my place, update the thread with link to peoples let's plays and continue my turns while making video let's plays of it on their own channel I would be outahere in the drop of a hat. It becomes a hassle having to log in and check if it is my turn everyday at the same time as keep up with my OSFirstTimer YouTube channel and recently started up forum and a bunch of people private messaging me offering to design me a website if I partner with their company on YouTube...

Let's playing is in my past and I just don't have the time for it anymore. At the same time I don't see anyone willing to replace me...

I agree with JosEPh. If doing this is more hassle than fun, then the next time your turn comes around just select retire. I agree that nobody is (likely) to want to / be able to play your turns AND continue the video let's play, as if they were they'd be doing their own video and nobody else is. It's been good having you in the game as you've been reasonably reliable, but if you just can't do it anymore then don't. To paraphrase JosEPh, us die-hards will continue on.

You might be able to keep the thread updated by logging in every week or two. If not, I'm sure someone, possibly even me, will step up and be able to keep it updated. I'm not quite sure how a person could edit another person's post, but I'm sure that someone here knows.

@Thunderbird. Yes the Pills made me realize that there is no "magic cure" and I said to my doctor how I overcome my "depression" and said he should recommend it to other people, But he refuses!? He says it's a placebo effect and he wont listen to me. I cut the connection with him and now I look back in a mirror with a weird feeling. Is he ignorant or corrupt?

I hope someone will take 12Padams place, but I doubt it IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE?!

Some might describe me as both of these things. What specific thought patterns were troubling you? We might have more in common than you think.

Well it's a bit hard to remember back but here is an example:


Love is not real, because humans only feels love to cover up the unease inside them. When you "love" a person it's only because that person gives you an electronic impulse in your brain that gives pleasure, and you are only with that person because he or she is giving that feeling. Humans is only concerned about themselves and then they think that they love someone, it is really about them. We live our life's constantly wanting something for something. You might say that you will always be there for a person but if that person don't gives you some "pleasure" anymore, you leave them, just like they are some dirt. The only "love" that seems to contradicting this idea, is the love that some parents have to their kids. I doesn't matter how much I screwed my parents up, they still loved me. I thought that it might just be genetic. It was not until I felt unconditional love that I realized my idea was BS . What I thought back then was love is really the Ego's substitute for love.

Just because depression runs in your family, it does not mean it's genetic. Your family affected you with their negativity through your childhood and that developed later your depression. Nearly no person in the world had grew up the way they should have been. Our brains is damaged just as much by our surrounding, as the average Peasants body was in the Medieval ages. The important thing is to stop it at your generation so this "demon" doesn't gets passed down to your children. In that way we have 1000 years of corruption in our brain through generations and generations of sorrow

So if you think ALOT about things, you can quickly have a corrupt way of looking at life. I just needed some good old timeless wisdom.

Yea I think I need to drop out, this has become a hassle and you can hear it in my voice as I've been trying to do the lets play, slowly it gets duller and less excited.... (I haven't even uploaded the last 20 turns to youtube)

Anyone want to replace me though? Any readers of this thread here want to join this game?

lurker's comment: I've been following this thread occasionally. I was thinking, it's kinda nice having the link to the updates in the second post, but it still means it's necessary to go to that second post not knowing if there's an update. So here's my idea:

Someone takes over maintenance of the updates list from 12padams, but does it in a second thread. That thread only receives new posts when there's a new story update - so anyone subscribed knows that when there's a bump, there's a new story. The first post in it can still have a table of contents of all the updates; the new post just says "Hydromancerx posted an update - read here!"

I know a few of the stories have CFC threads, but I like to follow both those and the non-CFC-based ones.

I am a bit confused over exactly who all is in. Is 12padams the same person as AstralPhaser? And did MegaNix take over from Epi3b1rD after the poll was created? The rest I think I have figured out...

I would like to continue playing this game. But... the actions of many of the players makes this nearly impossible. No real commitment but from a few. In some cases total disregard for others playtime windows. And as the weather turns from winter to spring involvement will just continue to dwindle.

So how do I play this game as a single player? Do I need to put the last save in WB and start from there?

Or do I just flush the whole thing? My patience is growing thin just like my hairline.

I share your frustration. For me, just a regular 1 turn each morning would be fine, but it seems it's too much to ask. Perhaps we should start a 2-player (plus AIs) game? (we'd easily get 2-3 turns a day I'm sure)

Ok, looks like it's Hydro.

I admit, the game would be a bit more fun if we could all consider it important to make sure we get our turns taken as soon as we can recognize they are up. We can only respect another's timetable so much sometimes due to life's demands but at least make it top priority to get out of the way of others as quickly as possible. How a person's turn sits here unplayed for more than 12 hrs is really baffling to me. In THIS delay's case, I think it's because it really helps to mention who's up next, particularly if the player is in both games and may get turned around on who they follow in which game.

I'm enjoying both, constant delays or not though. I've never played a game taking such thorough note of what's taking place every turn and thinking out my strategies with this much consideration.

If Any player who is on the board for extended times each day and can neglect to check both threads, while they are here and it's their turn to boot, has No Commitment to the game. Period. They are Wasting everyone else's involvement.

Really you don't even need to come to the forum to find out it's your turn. Just do a SVN Update and check the list in the SVN for cryin' out loud! Take your turn and then a simple post here as a courtesy to others.

Personally I'm enjoying these games, and I do check in often to see if my turn is up whenever I'm home and awake. Yes, it'd be nice if we were able to get in turns more frequently, but life happens. We really should have waited and done the turns in the appointed order that first day (and yes, I know I wasn't involved then, but I was watching) as that stuffed things up for a while to come. I'm willing to continue on despite the slowness. [Which reminds me that I have to update my lets-play.]

To the best of my knowledge (and I've done searches), there is no way to convert a multi-player save into a single-player.

We are updating at the start of the next round, correct? I'm going to be away from my main computer and probably pretty busy over this weekend, so if we update between Friday and Sunday, I may not be able to take my turn until late Sunday. I'll see what I can do, but my travel laptop doesn't handle C2C as well as my desktop does. (If we update before that, I can export the SVN to a flash drive and work with that.)
