Fascinating. I committed both this one and the Conservative at the same time. No idea why it would say that. I'll try again though.

Just committed the savegame and text files for this game again. Hopefully it worked this time.

If you ended the turn, stayed in the game, then saved it again, you froze it on your turn with no way to move on. You'd have to retake the turn all over again and not save after ending the turn this time.

Turn Done, Vokarya is up

@Vokarya
Good luck ;)

@All
Something strange has happened, I knew I wasn't going crazy. I was almost certain I had ordered some cities to build torches, but once again they were in my list of available buildings. Then I ordered them to do it again, and waited to see the end of turn so I could check which buildings were built. But none of the torches were built, and they disappeared from the building's list in the end of turn state. I already got Oil Lamps available, so I can build the torches' replacement, but I thought I could build previous stuff even having their replacements available. Of course I don't have Oil Lamps in any of the cities I mentioned.

BTW, this was an incredible turn. Gotta love Seafaring! What a marvelous Tech.

You do remember that Multiple Production is On. So if the cost of the Torches and the next build queue item is = to or < than your Production total they will both get built and the 3rd item in the queue will be up for the next turn. In fact in this stage of this game you can get more than 2 items built if they are all low tech/low production cost because they are early versions.

Also do you have set up in your BUG Options for Obsolete builds to Not be hidden?

I'm unsure about BUG, but it's not obsolete, not in a normal CIV concept at least, I mean no tech obsoleted the building. It just happens that there is another building that if built will replace the Torches (which is the Oil Lamps). Next time I'll test with the Sacrificial Altar, as 6-sized cities get a better version which replaces the older one (I don't remember both buildings exact names, but they are sacrificial stuff).

And you can count on me knowing about Multiple Production and Multiple Research. I wouldn't be able to rise from around 5th - 7th ranking to competing with T-brd and Koshling for the 1st place if I didn't use it a lot. How many times I built like more then 5 buildings? With buildings cost as low as 10:hammers: and production already surpassing 100:hammers: in productive cities, it isn't hard to do it. Also, Vokarya's doom comes exactly from the fact that my capital spits several units in one turn. With many buildings/wonders/civics speeding up Unit Production and giving more XP, you can understand why he is considering resigning.

But coming back to the issue, I ctrl clicked the torches icon in some cities (so it would be put first in the build queue), and after passing my turn I checked that they disappeared from the queue but weren't built, and in that state (which is after passing the turn), the Torches icon wouldn't show in any of the cities that it did while I was doing my turn. And this isn't something related to this turn, as I felt something was weird while I was doing my turn because several cities were able to build torches, but they were already building stuff I only tell them to build after building the torches (I create build set patterns so I don't lose myself, as I wish to control everything this game has to offer, without resorting to automation). I thought I had forgotten, but it wasn't one city, it was at least 3. Then I confirmed I wasn't going crazy by staying until the end and seeing they magically disappear from the queues without being built.

I can build multiple units per city too, you know. And I don't have much else for my cities to do except Lesser Research.

I think I sacrificed eight Horsemen this turn... but it was TOTALLY WORTH IT. Plus I trained that many between two cities, and they can keep doing it for a while.

My turn's done.

I hope you're right, this will make everything more interesting. But unless you took my commander or many strong units with them, I believe just because of the retaliation I'll be allowed to do it won't be worth it.

Turn Done, Vokarya is up

This was a pretty hard turn to play, but I'm glad with the results.

@Vokarya
Well done in killing Mayta Capac, he was a fine General. But seeing that you could either have killed my commander (difficult, would mean several more losses), or have taken my city (easily), this outcome was a lot easier to digest. It was my fault on not checking that your new Horsemen had the Speed promo from that nice building I forgot the name. But, in doing so, I think things are now much more complicated to you in the short run. Good luck!

@Thunderbrd
Game says I'm first in Mastery Score, with 68 points Vs 54 of Koshling. Maybe I'll indeed make you bite your tongue?
EDIT: Turn Done, Vokarya is up

@T-Brd
Really? At least you have Koshling right next to you to take care of, if not I'd start to rethink my strategies. This is already a pretty strong Golden Age you got there, and you only spent a turn or two in it already.

Well, a game is better if it's hard, so I'm not complaining ;)

Wait until I catch you up in Technology

It's cute that you think you will.

And how does this mean you're ahead on technology? This just means you have a greater score really. An amalgation of all victory conditions... you're winning so far on that. And yeah, you beat me to seafaring by a few rounds, but I'm pretty sure I have a number of techs you don't. I realize I do have some catching up to do to ensure my thin tech advantage stays put. There's still a lot of game to go here ;)

No, I couldn't take a city. And one of the Horsemen I had written off actually survived.

I think I have a bigger army now than I did at the end of my turn two turns ago. I just have to get them into position. But the bigger immediate threats have been relieved.

My turn's done.
