Master Map Change Thread

The reasons for Mumbai's population growth has a lot to do with Migration. Early on it was nothing more than a backwater province till the British built it up and converted it into a commercial centre.

In modern times it owes its growth more to internal migration from across Maharashtra and Gujarat than anything else. Perhaps there could be a simulator of such a sort where people move from one city to another depending on wealth and health factors. Otherwise, Maharashtra and the region around Mumbai is not rich in food resources. I feel we should avoid trying to make an unhistorically early growth for cities around western India.

This means that all the food produced is on a network and then the total food is given to the cities with a certain mechanism. A similar mechanism exists in colonization, where everything is traded between cities including food and hammers. I would like to see it. Maybe it could be a variant of corporations. For example, let the cereal corp to reduce all wheet resources by one food and deliver them in your cities.

Which is why the corn only spawns later. This is the best way to simulate phenomena such as this I think.

I wasn't correcting you, I was correcting the game. Scipii and Brutii is just incorrect Latin.

Not that it matters much, but in my opinion Rome was where the Total War series went downhill. I really recommend Medieval 1.

How is the AI? When I play Rome and M2 I literally never worry about actually losing in a straight-up fight. It's pathetic.

As bad *shrug* Creative Assembly seems to prefer to invest their money into graphics designers instead of AI experts. At least M1TW got the atmosphere right.

Roma Surrectum 2.6's AI is fantastic though

Fantastic relative to the base game is not fantastic in a meaningful sense. Fortunately, I've heard that M2TW's AI is one of the most moddable, so I have high hopes for EBII.

No it's fantastic in actuality. I actually lost the game on medium twice.

Why haven't many competitors emerged after like 13 years? They still pump out shoddy material, knowing that people will buy their games regardless. The epic disaster of Rome 2 suggests that the problem is getting worse.

I've never seen people who play Total War because of the strategy level anyway. And the Europa Universalis series or similar Paradox games are clearly superior there.

Don't get be started on how undynamic and dumb the character AI/personality/quests/ugly faces are in Skyrim.

@Diolectian: Clearly you've never played Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

On Skyrim: I feel that in Bethesda's case, their games are more measured by their moddability than the base game, although it doesn't make up for sloppy spaghetti coding like in Fallout 3.

I can't believe I got ALL of the Elder Scrolls game (Arena --> Skyrim) with all the expansions and DLC's for only 35 US dollars last Friday. Gave me a reason to -try- and play Skyrim on my laptop. I loved modding and missed it on X Box Skyrim.

I felt Fallout 3 was Elder Scrolls' most dynamic and immersive game. I played that on the 360.

How has everybody here played so many games? I've played Civ massively for the last four years, only intermittently trying out other stuff, and I'm still a wee monarch player who asks silly questions. I can't imagine the dedication people like VirusMonster put into Civ IV.

I keep my interests diverse. I actually mostly play fighting and rhythm games outside of Civ and appreciate most genres. It also helps to own most consoles and handhelds as well.

Only things I don't play are sports games like Madden or FIFA.

You have me pegged. Heard of it, never played it.

And nothing against Bethesda, but I would never play one of their games on a platform where I couldn't mod it. I'm sorry, but I probably couldn't play Skyrim, or even Morrowind without mods.

On the topic of other games, got EU4 today. Still in the "I think I may have a vague idea what I'm doing... maybe." stage of learning a new game. Good times.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is one of the best WRPGs of all time.
You simply must try it, it's got my highest recommendation.

It was released in 2004 and the range and depth of facial expressions and character in the game are still better than many other WRPGs now.
Think the gameplay of Deus Ex meets the fantastically rich setting of World of Darkness (of which Vampire: The Masquerade is its flagship game) and that's what it is.
The low points are the combat and the need for unofficial patches, but it hits a lot of high points in immersion, excellent writing,
and allowing for a variety of different approaches to get through most parts of the game.

Some examples below:

That's the best thing about EU.
