Master Map Change Thread

If all semidesert does is improve movement, I wouldn't do anything to buff the fore-mentioned areas, because the reasons those places suck is because a lack of food.

Maybe have semidesert give one :hammers: and one :food: and :hammers: next to rivers.

Let's do a full merge with SoI and then throw out the things we don't like.

Seems like that would be the easier approach from what I'm reading lately.

Desert gains a food with Refrigeration. If anything.

Helping out a food poor region in real life achieve in game supercitydom is a poor reason to add a tile. Increase the maximum number of cities for corporations and if possible direct them towards where their boosts are in need as well as already present. They should target booming cities and struggling cities, not middle.

Hahahaha according to some *coughcougheveryoneknowswhocoughcough*.

No. I love DoC. I just want to incorporate the best features from other mods into it to make it even perfecter.

More is not simply better.
What needs to be understood is that whatever works for other mods, like Sengoku or Sword of Islam doesn't necessarily work for DoC.

The reasons? I have several.

-DoC is NOT a kitchen sink mod. Meaning we don't try to cram in every feature possible based on the understanding that certain features, because of design differences, may contradict each other.
-DoC strives for gameplay balance, which is hard to achieve due to deviance across scenarios, AI outcomes,
difficulty levels and game speed, by nature of this mod itself, as a worldwide history simulator.
Therefore, balance is delicate and must be attended to with care.
-Other mods have features tailored for their mod based on scope.
Sengoku is a fantastic Warring States period simulator and the balance of that game revolves around that.
The diplomacy and warfare in particular are perfectly designed to simulate the conditions of that era; conditions that would not be appropriate for other time periods of Japan.
C2C has no qualms about being a kitchen sink mod because you're supposed to enjoy the zoom-in on smaller human achievements and play on Eternity speed or something.
It's the only mod I even try to play the slowest speed as a result.
DoC from my PoV, is about the simulation of human history along similar lines of development somewhat congruent to our own timeline, with a healthy amount of deviance.

Adding everything from SoI to DoC is the equivalent of attempting to force a square shape through a round hole.

DoC should incorporate ANYTHING, even "Final Frontier" mod. However, there are some little problems that should be solved before that, aren't they? :D

Rhye's and Fall from Heaven.

THANK YOU. That is the core philosophy of DoC (correct me if I'm wrong Leoreth) and some people *coughcough* don't seem to realize that, thinking that DoC is SoI 2.0.

Some new civilizations/buildings/wonders/techs would be much appreciated though.

Finally, someone else who gets it. I was starting to think I was the only one who remembered that DoC isn't a kitchen sink mod and never claimed to be.

I was almost going to post that. It's one of my favorite quotes and applies in many contexts, including game design.
