As I said, I would be remaking the Master Map Change Thread; reorganizing it with newer screenshots.
For new guys: The Master Map Thread is both a suggestion thread, a discussion thread, a research thread, and a modmodmod for improving Rhye's terrible mapmaking skills.

Tips on making good looking maps
Spoiler :

1) Repetition and alignment is not good. It takes you out of the sense that you're playing on a representation of Earth, and a globe. Try and make it so resources never line up. Terrain should just look... right. You know? Never put a desert and a grassland next to eachother.
2) Make the map gives the most incentive towards the most historical cities. Sankt Petersburg and Helsinki used to be horrible city locations.
3) Encourage good gameplay. Japan exported more tea than silk, hence my adding of 2 teas and removal of one.

Citis' Technical Info and Advice for Changing Map and Python
Spoiler :

How to merge other mods:
Make sure to remove from the other mod files that hace the same name with vital files of the current mod. Generally speaking these are python files, C++ files and DLL.

How to edit python:
Open python with a text editor. Notepad++ ISN'T the best option, because python is tab/space sensitive. I propose idle.

How to edit c++/ compile the DLL:
Use this guide.

How to edit scenario maps:
Minor changes: Find which tile is (press cntrl when you are over it), see what kind of change you want to do. Open the maps with a text editor (notepad++), go to the tile and make the change.
Whole map change: Play as the first civ possible. Open the worldbuilder ASAP without moving anything. Make the whole change. Remove starting units (you have to see python to see which units are created at start, and where they are created). Save it through worldbuilder. Open the save with a text editor (notepad++) and copy the non-tile infos from an original map to the save. This will convert the worldbuilder save into a map.
Combining different maps: Learn a programming language, and how that language handles files and strings. Then make the appropriate programme.

How to add a resource:
*If it should be present from 3000BC put it in any map through a minor map change. Check the resources.py if an other resource is poped in the same tile.
*If it should pop afterwards, open the resources.py and edit it.
*If a resource should be removed afterwards, open the resources.py and edit it.

How to edit something else/where to find help:
If you need help, ask me, ask Leoreth or investigate the code.

Good modmodmoding!

• I hate that with Japan and Vikings, you either lose about five turns or have to wait fifteen minutes to start. (Keep Tamil, India, Maya, Ethiopia dead; maybe Persia?) -NKN

P.S.

With the weather we've had in Oregon, I highly suggest changing your Oregon tile to tundra

Why there are Marsh in west Russia?
What do you want to do in Rostov?

The sheep in the desert 2N 2E from Samarkand is not useful.
I think (but I'm not sure) that it gives 2 food 0 commerce 0 hammers, is just 1 more pop, more maintenance for nothing.

Bananas count for Trading Company? You could make bananas appear in the Canary Islands around 1600, In my opinion small islands are only worth if they have resources for corporations or useful resources(you don't need wine). (also I buy bananas from there)

I don't see iron in China. Is this a Cho-Ko-Nu ban?

Edit: I see it now. But it's far too north.

Could input on bananas from the Canaries. I don't know much about the Trading Company. Anyone else think this is a good idea? Wikipedia says the island is most famous for wine, however Portugal and Spain already have wine I believe?

With Rostov, I plan on changing it to what the SVN currently has. Could someone please take a screenshot of it? I can't switch from Citis' map file to the SVN one.

As for the sheep, it is still a resource? You can trade it, you can get health from it. I'll look into it.

My thinking was that before Chinese civilization got around Beijing, they used copper for armor and weapons. It also gives Beijing more production.

Yes, Spain, Portugal and Morocco have wine.
I just thought that the canaries were more famous for bananas. I like their bananas
They have also an internet page and twitter and facebook and those things and a kind of pc game that my sister played (in her school) that teach you about the bananas from the canaries.

And the sheep... ok, it's still a resource.

But since Beijing flips to the Mongols, this is huge problem for the human player. (The AI should lose anyway, but a human wants to survive (at least I do))

I liked most of the changes. How about adding one more spot with cows in Poland? And rename Plock to Warsaw. PS Yes, I am interested in playing with the strong-AI Poland :)

It's 3 food 1 commerce and thus as good as a grassland farm.

Beijing does not flip, but everything north of it does. Still, I would insist on putting the iron inside China's core, at least not in Mongolia's.
