Math06: RaR, OCC, Space

I was wondering about the wandering worker too. Personally I don't think going that far is worth it, at least not at this time. We definitely need more workers. Soon mining will become available and one worker just isn't enough.

The incense colony will help with happiness.

Incense is required for Temple, Cathedral, and a few wonders that we won't build. We can do without the happiness improvements, so I am against building a colony.

Agreed, we should trade for foreign workers when possible.

I have plumbed the very depths of the earth, crossed hills and dales, voyaged across oceans and fought the barberous people on the far shore, and finally I return triumphant!

I've got my C3C disc back, woo! (brother had taken it up to scotland with it  )

but I'm playing like right now.

ta da!

Gosh, so much to manage ;)
Change sea tile to coastal increasing growth rate.

1)1350BC
Whats the scout in the galley for? suicide run? you do know galleys can't cross ocean right?
Don't sell monumnet - reasoning: it costs no upkeep and a higher culture gives us better deals with borders and AI relations, its nearly impossible to win by 25k culture in RaR unless you build the later culture producing buildings (which we won't as they cost upkeep)

2)1325BC
...

3)1300BC
Granary >> TG (no upkeep so build while we can) [2]

Trade comes in get 200gp from tibet and the wheel from the aztecs.
Start on Philosophy [11]
Find island to the south (its crap - all tundra!)
TG>>Bazaar[9]

6)1225BC
Grow to 5 pop
Tibet has bronze working

7)1200BC
Aztecs complete the Oracle!! They gain bronze working and probably construction (AI values that very highly)

8)1175BC
...
9)1150BC
Montezemua demands 30gp, I cave.
10)1125BC
...
11)1100BC
Expand to Six pop, everyone still happy

12)1075BC

13)1050bC

14)1025BC
Bazaar - Bowman[2], with the new bazaar+pop we can run 4.6.0 with only -1gpt

15)1000BC
up to 7 pop - 1/5/1
Philosophy comes in, sell it to tibet for 120gp +Bronzeworking, and to the aztecs for construction. Set to classical education (the most expensive ancient tech as the AIs will reserach civil engineering for us). Get classical education free then start on code of laws [8]
change bowman to academy - we can get it in 2 turns at zero growth or 3 turns at +3fpt. up to the next player. I'd then go Colossus>SoS (the colossus is only 14turns at 0fpt...)
Indians complete spaceship!! I mean Hanging gardens :mischief:

The way I see it, we're lucky Monty didn't take philo with his oracle ...
As for the prod vs food concerns, I very often lean towards growth, especially in OCC, as you need every cent available.

Oh, did I mention I've been rather busy this week? I got it, will play in the morning.

I do agree with Beorn, growth is more important than production. For comparison, I have attached the 1000 BC save from the Tibet game that I mentioned earlier in this thread. This may be extreme, but it definitely gets the point accross.

-Forgot to mention that Stonehenge and MoM we’re built during my turnset.
-After growth take the citizen off the sea tile and put him back on the grass.
-The Colossus will be done in 4.
-We're currently at 22 spt.

Here's the save.

Got it, play this week-end some time.

Turnsets are to be only 10 turns each.

Done that myself, not going to frown on you or anyone over details like that ;)
Playing, will see to it that demo+colossus pays off.

Pre-flight: MM for colossus in 3, growth at the same rate, Currency in 1.

Military Training -> Dark Ages -> Invention (2)

T10.
We're heading towards clockworks. Mill and Clock will make a very cool addition to our city; it is much faster rewarding than going straight and blindfold towards irrigation.

Slave trade due in 7 although I MM'ed for growth. We could use another peasant or 2, but none has shown up in my set. Hopefully life will be better on us in the future.
We are at war with Montezuma, although he is willing to negociate and soon enough he'll be willing to take it for currency, or even less. Perhaps I should have caved in, but it seemed like a good way of kicking ourselves ahead in techs - which it did.

The Save

Looks good. I agree on heading for Clockworks, maybe even picking up Scientific Method before going after Crop Rotation. Also, those optional A&C techs are worth picking up in 2 turns each, for the SGL chance. We need Literature for a Library, anyway.

Edit: Tibet already has Currency and Iron Working. Soon, the Aztecs will have them as well. We should get peace now. Those two techs and a little bit of gold will get Riding along with peace.
