[NFP] Maya First Look

Also, a weaker Seowon is still stronger than pretty much everyone else’s campuses. Not many Civs will hit that adjaceny aside from Wilhelmina or Australia (and a few others).

And you would have to deal with Willys terrible LA or Waltzing Mathilda!

A half price campus with decent yields is already extremely strong, especially with 10% on top for the first 6-8 cities

Seems a bit weird to give a housing penalty to a tall civ.

Assuming that the ability means 1 housing per farm (not 1.5, which is the base .5 plus 1), then to have more housing than a regular civ's freshwater city...

5 + .5x < 2 + 1x, in other words, you need 6 farms to break even with a regular civ, which may be hard to do given how dense you are expected to place your cities.

Or if it's actually 1.5 housing per farm then it's only 3, which is a lot more do-able. I hope they clear that up.

I think Maya would be more interesting if they spiced up the abilities a bit more.+20% for Cities in 6-tile range,-30% for all else.Farm gets Science and Faith for adjacencies to disaster tiles;and so does the observatory. The underlying mechanics aren’t bad, they are just too weak to make a big impact.(I like the fact that maya doesn’t need fresh water though)

Hmmm, I noticed that Lady Six Sky moves around a lot like Amanitore (almost identical in some cases). What does this mean? I hope it's just that they're still working on her animations.

Other than that, she looks super amazing and I am super excited.
Compared to the Nubia First look, the animations don't seem identical at all. They both use a staff, and do a similar (but still different) hand movement in the beginning, but apart from that i don't see many similarities.

If anything, she reminded me more of Gorgo sometimes (who also has a, well not staff but spear, in her hand) :D

It's 1.5 per farm, there's a tooltip visible at 0:28 in the video.

It’s not all about strength though. In my opinion, Korea is the dullest, least interesting Civ in the game. It has very strong but very monotonous abilities.

I prefer something that takes some planning and effort (and luck) to make strong, but with higher potential.

I like it overall. I think the 10% bonus to the capital and first few cities will be more impactful than people think, and the combat bonus will be very very welcomed for aggressive neighbours
If they were weaker but unique I wouldn't mind. But they seem just like Korea and still weaker which is disappointing.

The religion button in the top left of the screen disappears through most of the video (it's back around 1:36). Does that mean no religion in Apocalypse mode ?

Capital city has its genuine name, the rest are all modern names.

* Wak Kab'nal (Modern: Naranjo)
Toniná (Original: Po)
Palenque (Original: Lakam Ha)
Yaxchilán (Original: Pa'Chan)
Xunantunich (Original: unknown)
Copán (Original: Oxwitik)
Glad they did that. “Dos Pilas” (two pillars) and “Naranjo” (orange tree) are clearly Spanish-inspired names.

I think a forest fire can be seen in the lower left corner. This would indicate, that forest fires are not locked behind the apocalypse mode, if the lifetime and renown of an unit is only on that mode.

From what I can tell from the video, Citizens still only give 0.5 science and 0.3 Culture so having a large population wont help you much by itself and specialist are also still +2.

Any bets on the leader agenda? Im guessing something along the lines of "dislikes when leaders build cities far from their capital."
That would make sense! I wonder what they will call her agenda, too. Maybe something relating to Maya city state warfare.

Why she mentions city-states at the start? I don't get it. Because she wants to get rid of them if they are nearby her capital?

One of the more fun ones around also it seems. Smaller, stronger empires are always more interesting to me, makes the game flow better late game. Thats a big bonus.

Some things also I dont like so much:
Hunting for luxury-resources instead of rivers is ok. Not overly fun, but suits the Mayans I guess.
Getting adjacent pastures might just be too luck based, six hexes away from capital even. I dont see it happen much. So she still likes to get pretty feudalism farms near river floodplains anyway, as those are the best spots for science bonuses for her too.

I dont like her appereance design much, but her name is perfect for Civ 6. :D

But still I like Mayans. Fits my playstyle perfectly.

I was talking about the part at the end (you know, the part that had been previously mentioned and obviously looked like Amaniore's animations?)

Also, her idle animations (shown in the middle of the video) look exactly like Amanitore.
