Maya: Tales of the Ancients

Have fun! :D

Yax Mutal had moved its production from building the Oracle to a work boat for a short time, and when that was completed, Pacal ordered that the Oracle be finished. Mayapan now had a good source of food to live off of as long as the work boats continued bringing in fish.

Pacal also noticed a division of barbarian jaguars to the north in Mexico, but Pacal II wasn't worried in the slightest, as the only point that the jaguars could go through to get into Maya was through the stack of troops that Pacal was saving up.

As Pacal was looking at the jaguars on the plantations of dyes, he was given report by his military adviser that the scouts up in the land owned by the Chippewa. The Chippewa called this land "Meicigama", which meant great water, but the scouts misheard them and started calling the land Michigan. Either way, they were in Michigan and had won internal war games, and had received the Leadership promotion.

The mayor of Uxmal thought that they couldn't build buildings and wonder as fast as they could, so he ordered the citizens of Uxmal to start building a Great Cothon, to better use the production that the coast and sea offered them. If they were able to build this, their buildings would be made much faster.

It would take a little while to build, but Pacal, after hearing the news, thought it would be worth it. More production means more buildings, and more buildings mean happier citizens.

As the citizens of Yax Mutal had finished building the Oracle, a Mayan god came down to them and offered the knowledge of one topic to them. Pacal II, after thinking about the decision for a little bit, decided he wanted the god to teach them about Metal Casting. With Metal Casting, they could build things like workshops to raise their production, and that technology would take a while to research.

The scout to the north also continued exploring the land to the north, finding a land that they were not used to in Maya: tundra. Tundra was cold through most of the year, not too bad, actually, but these scouts were used to higher temperatures.

Tales were told to Pacal about a new civilization to the south called the Inca. Pacal, happy to finally have some neighbors, couldn't wait until he could meet these Incan people. That time would have to wait a little bit, however, as Maya's only scout was in the north.

Pacal II also decided to even better harvest the coast tiles by building a Great Colossus in Yax Mutal. If this was built, sea trade would grow exponentially, and increase the commerce gained by working the coast much better. Pacal was excited by this and the production that would be given by the Great Cothon, so he started building the Colossus in Yax Mutal.

Also, their path of economy and science was helping them, as they made many technological advances. Back when Maya was a new kingdom, they could not even use bows and arrows, and now they are using forges to make weapons, and have real laws to follow! The kingdom was definitely becoming a wonder of the Americas.

MS Decision!

Spoiler :
New neighbors we haven't met yet. Hooray!

1) Continue to stay peaceful unless attacked, and focus just on science and economy until at least 1250 AD
2) Once the Great Cothon is completed, train a worker in Uxmal so we can better work the infrastructure, and lower the science rate to 60% so we can get more gold to trade with Inca
3) Once the Great Cothon is completed, build another wonder in Uxmal that could benefit us for some time to come, but before we do that, train a scout to send down to meet Inca
4) Finish the Great Cothon, but cancel the Colossus, as it isn't needed. Train a worker and scout in Yax Mutal to work on infrastructure and to meet Inca. Focus on building other things like Ball Courts and Granaries

You should beeline gunpowder :D

It appears option #3 has won!

And Caterpillar, I can do that, especially because the Spanish worry me (Italians before they collapsed in a marathon game I'm playing right now)

You need to do it to fight the Europeans. Also, I would recommend medicine. I know you won't be able to get it in time but it's still important for future plagues.

Even in Viceroy, playing as the Mayas is hard.

I thought it'd be nice to have a bit of a challenge. :p

Oh well, I'll beeline gunpowder and I'll stock up on defenses as well as I can for the Aztecs and the Europeans.

Sure would be great if "gods" magically built mountains all around Maya to protect it from Europe :D

What about autosaves?
