The Mayan gods had promised their loyal servants that they would grant them each a city in the islands to the east, but they could not keep their promises. The alien men that had come to destroy us brought illnesses that we could not recover from. With weakened soldiers and gods that turned their backs on the people, and supporting the alien men, Maya was doomed.
Pacal II himself had come down with the most strange disease of them all. Large green pustules grew all over his body and he lay in his bedchambers for the length of the day. The military commanders had given up on him, and announced a military leadership.
This however would not last, and Maya ultimately collapsed and fell under the control of the Spanish men. Most were slaughtered, and others were enslaved. The cities were ransacked and pillaged, and most of our history was burned in order to heat the stew that fed the alien men's bellies.
The city of Yax Mutal was now the capitol of the alien men's control of the southern half of the Mayan lands, and Tenochtitlan was the capitol for the north. Maya was no longer.
The only free Mayan men left were the originals. Those that were promised cities by the gods, and Pacal II himself. Pacal II called them into his bedchambers in order to speak to them about his last day.
The originals gathered around Pacal II, knowing his time left in this land was slim. It was common knowledge that Maya was doomed, and that there was nothing that could be done to save the nation. CaterpillarKing held his hands together in front of himself, DKVM stood there silently with tears welling in his eyes, Manuss could only stand solemnly, VGL was trying to contain his frustration of the failure of this nation, and Moai_Spammer was nowhere to be seen. It was assumed he defected to the Spanish men.
Pacal gathered his energy and turned his head to the originals gathered around him and choked down some tears. The burning of buildings could be heard around him, and the screams of terrified villagers were heard as they were killed mercilessly and without feeling. These Spanish men were terrible monsters for what they had done, all for just taking more land? Pacal was furious, but he had no time to be angry.
Pacal looked up at CaterpillarKing first of all, and told him these words:
"CaterpillarKing, you've always been a faithful servant of this nation. You've always been there when others couldn't, and you always believed we could survive and do better. Your hard work and courage will not be forgotten, and you shall be remembered for generations to come."
Pacal then looked at DKVM.
"DKVM, you've been one of the greatest minds in the lands of Maya. You've always been the voice of reason in terrible times, and were working your hardest in order to make this nation a better place. For this I thank you, and would like you to survive this ordeal, and tell the story of Maya, and what a great nation we once were."
Pacal turned to Manuss.
"Manuss, you've always put a smile on everyone's face. Your optimism and light-heartedness has kept this nation in good spirits, and helped keep the people happy. For this, I thank you, and wish that even when we are both gone, that the smiles you have caused will never cease to be."
Pacal looked then at VGL, whose fists were clenched with anger at failure.
"VGL, you've been a strategic man. You've always tried your hardest to help to lead our military. You wanted us to be strong and have a strong leader. I am sorry I have failed you, but at least in the memories of the people shall we be remembered as those who did not just hold out, but succeeded where no one else could."
Pacal would then have looked at Moai, but he knew of his treachery and deceit.
"And if Moai, were here, I would have thanked him for his service to everyone, but he left us to work for Spain. I would curse him for this if I were healthful, but at this time I know that everyone has good in their heart. I only wish that we never be forgotten, and I know our legacies will live so long as these walls and buildings stand tall. Even if those walls are destroyed, and the buildings burned, we won't leave. Thank you all."
After these words, Pacal laid his head back on the bed and stared at the ceiling. He sighed one last sigh, and took a final breath.
"You know, after all this time, I don't want it to go." Pacal stated. "But I feel at peace. Peace... That's all I could ever ask for."
Pacal smiled one last smile, and walked with Death to the heavens.
This was a good story while it lasted. It's always sad to see any kind of story, AAR or book, end (especially on a sad note) however we think of fond memories while looking towards the future. I thank everyone for your attention to my words. I shall heed your words and make sure the story of the Mayans lives on, Great Pacal!
We will go down much in history much more prominently than any other New World civilization. We pushed the boundaries of our knowledge and we lead our people to greatness. No one will forget our legacy. When you walk through the conquered lands of our Maya you do not see only whites. You see the faces of our glorious empire in the public. Ironically the same ones to take us down will immortalize us. Our people will marry the foreigners and with that, I call this a victory. They could not defeat us, they could merely merge with us.
Looking back at this I'm proud of this ending. I couldn't get screenshots, so I tried my best to write about how everyone was feeling with the destruction of everything they've known.
I'm also surprised I've actually been able to finish a story. Didn't know I had the jurisdiction inside of myself to do it.
What about starting over? In addition to what CaterpillarKing said, I'd also suggest stationing sentries all over the Caribbean islands to thwart conquistador landings.
