Medieval European Mod II 2016-10-05

What updates? Last patch was technically final and I'm pretty much retired. I'll think of an update though, when Sandris is done with medieval units lines ;)

ummm... that means in about 2-3 months!? excellent!!! looking forward to it

Sadly, no cigar.

I receive the following message, during loading: "Load Error - File Not Found: Art/Advisors/WI_all.pcx.

I can open the scenario now, but it says that I am missing some leaderhead art, and then it quits out. I am pretty sure I have the base mod and the update installed correctly, so I don't know whats wrong.

This is to both Axis_Kast and Frozen_In_Ice:

If such leaderhead art is "missing" then the mod has not been upacked correctly, because the files are there. Search for them with windows/mac search function and you'll find them. Note their path. The problem is Civ3 can't find them because the folder structure you have is not the correct one for Civ3 mods. I can't offer much help beyond what I explained already, the paths just have to be correct, e.g. the file "WI_all.pcx" should be exactly here:

...Conquests/Scenarios/MEM/Art/Advisors/WI_all.pcx
(or Conquests Game Data... in case of a Mac)

If that path looks any different, it's wrong, e.g. it should not be:

...Conquests/Scenarios/MEM/MEM/Art/Advisors/WI_all.pcx
or
...Conquests/Conquests/MEM/Art/Advisors/WI_all.pcx

We had several reports like these before and it always turned out to be the case, because such subtle differences don't look wrong to people, but they don't work with Civ3.

Again, if you just put the mod ZIP files into Conquests/Scenarios, right-click on them and choose "Extract here..." (at least on PC with Winzip, WinRar or 7-zip), or just open the files and move their contents to Conquests/Scenarios, everything should be fine without any further work.

When is the Western Europe map gonna be finished for 1.2..? I was told in April it was "in the works." :x

A Minor :( Mistake:
In the new version 11th Century Conquest scenario, the whole map is covered by Fog of War, and the Civ's have no contact with each other at the start.

It's not a mistake.

Hi, I am back to Civ 3 after being distracted by Civ 4. Yours was one of the 7 Mods I downloaded over the past couple of weeks and I just wanted to say that I love this mod and the 11th Century Scenario is my favourite. So far I have finished games as England, Italy and the Moors. Tomorrow (If I have time) I plan on having some fun as the Turks. I love the Vassalage system even though it means I end up running Feudalism for ages to Vassalise Western Europe.

But it doesn't really make sense. I mean, it is the 11th century. Shouldn't at least some civs have contact?

Unfortunately, Civ3 doesn't allow setting contacts between civs like that. You either use the "starts with embassies" setting giving them contacts & embassies with everyone else with this setting, or nothing. With maps, you either uncover the map for everyone, or don't. All or nothing, in both cases.

Without going into detail, giving everyone embassies in 11th century is bad for the game, i.e. for tech progression and AI wars. Current setting makes the AI seek contact with its neighbors first.

@kairob

Thanks :)

Okay, I understand the solid :goodjob: logic behind what your saying, but what about the :shifty: 13th century Scenario.
There the map is revealed, and all the Civs have embassies with each other from the start.

No, they don't... Play it and see :p Only the map is uncovered, because at that point in time, it usually is, through Portugal's ability.

Hallo MEM fans
A new version is ready to play:

This is NOT a new version of MEM. It has been released without the authors' knowledge and re-posted against our consent. I advice against downloading it as it will overwrite the original MEM files and make it incompatible with any future patches.

Yang Liu, it's getting ridiculous. Not only you did it without consulting me or Yoda, you did it wrong and when the original thread got locked you edited this post and moved the download link here. Can you please stop?

That's just evil, man. I mean to Yang Liu. How dare you?

I love MEM II sooooo much. It's the best mod ever and infinitely replayable. A masterpiece of civ!
