Mercenaries and Assasins, the NES of betrayal, money and magic.

Ah, the Demonic Planes, Sjiveru thought to himself as he walked along with the rest of the party. What a lovely vacation spot. Nice, warm winters, exotic plant life (such strange fungi! Okay, so fungi aren't plants)... come to think of it, maybe I should pick some and take it back to the VS... nah, I don't know what that stuff would do to me if I touched it. I'll report 'there is fungus' and let someone who actually cares about fungus come and document it. This falls under the 'not my job' category. He wrote down 'there is fungus' in his notebook.

Apparently, we're looking for a demon hunter. A demon hunter, living in the Demonic Planes. Both makes total sense and makes no sense at all. You'd think 'wouldn't all the demons come kill him?', but then again, you'd think 'well, all his prey is right nearby'. Guess it depends on skill level - the guy must be pretty good. Well, we'll see soon enough.

I hope Nikania knows where she's going...

Nice TF =)
"There is fungi" XD
I fell down from my chair ;)
Added more lore to the lore post on 10th page... goodnight ppl =)

Hadel went through the portal and immediately did not like what he had found on the other side. It was warm, with red skies stretching above and some sort of mushy mushroom/fungi growing everywhere.

He hoped that the mushroom's spores wouldn't be deadly, or rather, he wondered what would happen if he smeared some on his dagger.

He looked around and noticed that the elven mage was busy scribbling down something about fungus on his notepad. Fitting for them for the first subject that they are interested are is about mushrooms, he thought.

At the very least, there weren't demons, yet. Soon, he would get to test out the Exsorcist's dagger on a demon in his own planes.

He wondered what Nikania was doing by coming here. He hoped that she knew what she were doing...

Myrddyn cautiously entered the vortex-like gate into Hell, he had a horrible feeling about this, but then if you didnt have a horible feeling about entering hell he thought, your sanity would be questionable.

His First impressing upon exiting the gate was overwhelming heat and a sudden oppressive force pressing down on his spirit. he sent a silent prayer to Carendice, which helped lift the feeling slightly. His second impressing was 'Wow theres actually life here... well, somethign that mimics life... at least'

A little further on he saw Sjiveru knealing before an enormour mushroom like tree peering up into the gills scribbling down notes. Myrddyn cuatiously walked over to him and knelt next to him saying nothing. Sjiveru turned hi head a fraction in curiosity with a raised eyebrow in question. Myrddyns only response was to make eye contact, and turn his attention to the fungus, closing his eyes and reaching out a hand to hover over the surface of its trunk. He attempted to communicate with the organism and he searched for a connection with the Web, however he found nothing where something should have been. Fungus, like plants, have a basic memory of what occurs around them, however it is usually a much shorter memory. but this fungus appeared to not be alive at all.

"peculiar..." Myrddyn muttered under his breath. Sjiveru, who had been watching him intently quickly asked "What is it?".
"This fungus is not alive in the sense that i am familiar with, it dosnt have a connection....hmmm"
He stopped mid sentence and tried again this time focusing his thoughts differently, Suddenly he was bowled over with the terrible howling of ages, agony beyond imagining and immense history flooding out from the mushroom. He scrabbled away in shock.

"By Carendice's Tears, i was too quick to judge. It is alive, but on a paralel plane to us and other life. It... Its as if it was watching us when i tuned into its memory the screams and agony... it was incomprehensible. I think we should get away from it, and we should probably avoid the other fungus as much as possible too."

Sjiveru lookied longing ly at the fungus curiosity clearly etched in his face. he quickly jotted down more notes and slowly made his way from the fungus.

-------------------

Nikania had just entered the Demonic plane and was lookign around, Myrddyn watched her with the others. she walked over to them and spoke: Now that were all here i might as well fill you in on some more information. I seek a Demon Hunter by the name of Knakik who lives down here. Do not ask questions, i will reveal more to you when i know myself. We must be careful down here things are not what they appear. We are lucky there are no demons... yet...

Sjiveru's Journal, Day 2
We have now entered the Demonic Planes. Currently, we are wandering around, following Nikania, who hopefully knows where she's going.

There is fungus.

Well, it seems 'there is fungus' isn't enough - our resident druid Myrddyn has had an odd reaction to the fungus. He attempted to read its memory, and initially found nothing (odd in itself), but then he was physically pushed backwards by what he described as 'incomprehensible screams and agony'. Seems that if it is to be investigated further, and potential researchers should be warned of this - I don't want to be held responsible for scarring someone for life.

I'm quite glad I decided not to touch it.

Seems we're searching for a demon hunter named Knakik. That's all Nikania's told us, and she seemed to imply that she didn't know much more herself. Wonderful. At least we haven't seen any non-fungal demons yet.

When you think about it, 'demon fungus' when uttered under any other circumstances would be rather humorous. After seeing Myrddyn's face, I don't really think it is right now.

Nice going everyone =)
Adding day three daily reports...
(that thing with the bonus was if you make stories today and the rest of the days, just in case someone were confused)

This Hell is nothing like Myrddyn expected... the bizar fungus and distinct lack of flames, skeletons and general torture and pain was nothing like he had expected. He was prepared for Fire and Brimstone... but not this... he was glad he had warded his clothes before hand because he felt more secure than some of the others looked.

They seemed to have walked for an eternity (which is a really long time for a Half Dryad) and had encountered nothing besides the fungus. At one point they were obcured by a wall of the growth, and Nikania insisted they must go through it. Myrddyn was hesitant after he knew what the fungus knew... and said:

"If you insist on passing through this growth we will have to find a way to clear it, from what i can determine it goes on for quite some way. I doubt very much if you would like to touch them."
"This is the only path to Knakik, we must go this way." With that Nikania draw back and motioned for us all to get behind her, she raised her staff in a very steriotypical mage-of-limitless-power pose and let forth the figgest plume of fire i had ever seen in my substantial existance. the heat cut through the already searing oppression of Hell and made my skin blister slightly. i quickly errected a fire warding shield around us and the heat reduced to a managable level.

Finally when the smoke and flames cleared it was clear that the Fungus forest was unscathed. not even a scorch mark was apparent. with an irritated "hmm" Nikania flicked through the pages of the book she carried with her at all times.

suddenly a deep rumbling was felt and we stood silent everyone shooting glances all over the place for the source of the noise, eventually it died down and Nikania who hadnt flinched exclaimed "Ah!" which made everyone jump. it was clear we were all twitchy down here.

Once more she prepared herself for a predicatly enormous feat of magic and forged a massive blizzard, snow ice wind and freezing rain poured from nowhere over the fungus, and they visibly... melted? My ears split in agony as the organisms screamed i collapsed to my knees and the Dark elf looked down at me muttering "Weak fool" whereas Sjiveru and Thanatos as i had come to know the Celestial came to my side with a concirned expression.

Finally the agonizing screams ceased and my vision clear of pain and i saw that where there once stood a forest of Fungus there was now only a frozen wasteland... and at the far side was... a... small copse of what looked like trees...

"No way in Hell..." i muttered to myself thinking the screams of the mushrooms had caused me to halucinate too, but when Sjiveru who appeared not to have been affected by the screams gasped and pointed as well, i knew they must be real.

Suddenly i was overcome with an unnatural Joy, it was a bizar feeling looking back, and i stood up and sprinted across the ice as fast as i could without falling over Behind me i heard Nikania yell "NO!!!" but i didnt stop. The sight of something familiar i guess, it called to me in this blasted wasteland. but as i neared them i continued to hear the shouts of my companions as the trees moved, and... turned to... face me. Gnarled faces trapped in anguished grimaces glared down at me, the fiery red eyes piercing holes into my being. These were not trees at all but Bloodwood Ents. I had heard talk of them as a child, i had always thought they were stories told by my mother to scare me into behaving.

The shock and enormity of what had just occured hit me. The Bloodwoods had lured me here, playing on my desire and weakness in the hopes to slay me before the rest of the others arived. A massive woody arm reached down to get reaking of malevolence. I started suddnly and immediatly and instnctivly turned into my Shadow form the Ents arm passed straight through me! Praise Carendice!

I rallied quickly then and sprinted off a way, turning into my winged form as i went, i flew high above the ents and hovering, targeted a spell that would force them to root themselves into the ground, and force their branchesand arms to intertwine, thus disabling them. hopefully the others would make it in time to help finish them off, i peered over my sholder and saw Nikania waving frantically at me to get out of the way as she rose her staff

"Oh crap..." i left my spell half finished, but enought that the ents were totally immobalized, and flew back toward the others as fast as i could, the storm that trailed me chilled my bones, and my soul, i beat my wings harder to out fly the blizzard that Nikania was conjuring over the Bloodwood ents, and again, the immense agony assailed me, i faultered and with my concentration broken reverted to my normal form falling to the ground screaming in agony at the evil Bloodwoods pain. i tried to block the pain, to sever the connection i had with them so i could resprout my wings, but to no avail, i fell. conveniently i had already begun my decent, but i was still a good 3 stories above the ground. i crashed into the ground a loud *snap* echoing through my anguished screams. I fainted.

---------------

I woke up to the steely gaze of Thanatos. Ironic really. i looked down at my leg which i knew i had broken before and the bloody cloth. Thanatos simply said:
"you broke your leg. i healed it" I turned my head away in shame. what a fool i was... i caught the gaze of the ridiculing darkelf on me, a sneer on his lips. i shuddered inside. I held my head, which still throbbed, muttering "i really need to learn to control and block my connection with other life... or whatever those Bloodwood were... they were as alive as the Fungus." shakily i stood and channeled healing spells into myself, drawing on the guidance of Carendice, i began to feel better.

out loud i said: "Im sorry..." and turned around to continue walking in the direction we were heading originally. Nikania grabbed my sholder and looked me in the eyes. "Its ok Myrddyn, i think i understand. You were brave once their spell on you was broken. That trick where you phased into the shadows, you must explain it to me. If i hadnt interfeared so soon you wouldnt have fallen, i hadnt realised you had imobalised them so rappidly... we continued to walk, her comforting me in the lead and explaining how i could erect i mind shield to block outside thoughts and interferance...

OOC: a bit of drama for ya all :p

Aeneas stepped up and knocked on the door. It was in the middle of the night, and nobody else was around. A man opened, carefully. "What is it?", he asked Aeneas. Aeneas replied, calmly: "Is this where Okran lives?"

The man reacted on the name, opening the door as if to let Aeneas in. "Why do you ask?"

Aeneas opened his palms and let hellfire consume the man's figure, sneering between his teeth: "I have a package of death for him."

After seeing the man thrown backwards into the house and burnt to cinders, he turned around and headed down a street, pulling up his hood.

OOC: That means I'm doing 'Is this where Okran lives? I have a package of death for him.'

Nice work you two =)
You really captured that scene well P.L. =)
Added your reward DE

Aeneas gritted his teeth. There had to be a reason that it was called the forbidden fire. Perhaps he should have thought of wearing gloves... Nevermind, that was too late now, the Spectres had noticed. He hoped what was waiting for him was a raise or a promotion and not four assassins with mageslayer knives. He slowly found his way towards the cave...

As Aeneas opened the door to the cave he saw a cloaked man sitting behind a table.
"Ah! finally youre here. Come in. Take a seat."
Aeneas goes towards the table and takes a seat.
"Now... we have alot to talk about. Firstly, tell me how you got that mark"

Aeneas sat down. He shifted and sent looks around the cave, before answering the direct question. "I noticed it after I had killed Tryn, the guard you sent me after. I talked to a cultist about it, too. He mentioned that it was the mark of a god; the god of the forbidden fire. Does that mean anything to you?"

The man in the cloak nodded slowly.
"It does". After a few minutes silence the man pointed at aeneas. "Do you know who i am?" Aeneas shaked his head as a sign that he didnt. "I am the Black Spectre"
____________________________________________________________

"...so youre telling me this mark appeared on your hand after you killed the guard? interesting. The lord of the forbidden fire seems to have a plan with you. Do you know what this mark can do?"

Aeneas' eyes widened. The Black Spectre? What could this mean? Was it a good thing, or a bad thing, to sit opposite the Black Spectre in a hidden-away cave in the middle of nowhere?
He shook his head. "Do go on. Explain to me please, what it means. I want to understand."

The Black Spectre nodded. "Let me tell you a story. A story of a long gone empire, the story of the Sha'Tuqhs. The Sha'Tuqhs were a proud race, they looked abit like the elves that wander Nokhran today, exept for thier burning, red eyes. The Sha'Tuqhs once found a swampmen temple, and inside it they found some kind of weapon, that made them stand over every other race in this world. That weapon, was the Forbidden Flame. With the power of the Forbidden Flame, the Sha'Tuqhs constructed many wonders, The Floating Citadel, The Tower of Kihn, The Archdome, and... The Sphere of Life. You might not beleive me, but they acheived within ten years, what we are spending generations on learning: How to create life. With the Sphere of Life, the High Archmage of the Sha'Tuqhs, created three races: The Salamanders, The Icebirds and the Majestic Drakes. But no empire stands forever, the other races, like humans, were plotting against the Sha'Tuqhs. The war that followed extinguished many lifes, even more than i have killed in my whole lifetime, and more than five races were wiped from the surface of the world. But we won. In his final hour, The High Archmage sealed away the Forbidden Flame somewhere in our world, so that the remaining races should not get it. It is said that the flame has its own will, and that it is a kind of archbeing. No matter what it is, it has great power" The black spectre fell silent.

Aeneas looked at the man with a mix of exaltion and horror. Slowly, he moved his gaze to the palm of his left hand. "You... You are telling me that this mark represents a force that has... Created three entire races and estinguished five. In - a - matter - of - years?" He was stammering now. He was confused. He shook his head again, presenting a more sensible question: "What has that got to do with you being the Black Spectre, excuse my direct tone?"

The Black Spectre smiled under his hood "Alot of things, alot of things. Many of them are not for you to know yet. You will probably understand that many has sought the Forbidden Flame, but noone has found it. Noone has broken the High Archmage's code, even though thousands of greatly more experianced people than you has sought to. I do not understand what the Forbidden Flame see's in you, but i know that you are lucky to be in our order. I am not sure what the mark does... but i have a faint idea of what it could be, but to be sure if im right, you need to commit more deeds of the dark path. I am refering to assasinations. Go now, Aeneas, and may the Raven watch your step" With theese words the black spectre vanish into thing air, and Aeneas is left sitting alone in the cave.

OOC: This might sound UBAHR, and it is =) but i have you ******* work for it!
