Mercenaries and Assasins, the NES of betrayal, money and magic.

Hadel nodded toward Myrrddin. Then Nikania finished casting her spell and felt a magical barrior cover himself. He yelled "Toss the seed bombs, now!" to the Druid and rushed forward. Hadel covered himself in a thin layer of dark energy over his shields, an extra defense against the druid's seed bombs.

The seed bomb detonated amongst the charging demons, which cried out and started collapsing as the vines grew on their bodies. A small cloud of seeds and dust filled the air and blinded the demons and Hadel dashed directly into the cloud.

He felt the seeds bounce off of his layer of dark magic, and he used the remaining amount of magic to fire several cubits hidden inside his cloak at the demons.

Pure, black crystals flew through the airs at high speed and detonated against the demons. Hadel saw the Eldtrich knight brandishing his sword and the elven mage casting some spells, but he could not care less, his eyes were focused on his target, this time a large spider like demon trying to brush off vines from the druid's seed bomb.

He took his dagger and stabbed it into the demon.

And something surprising happend, the demon cried out in pain and when the dagger was retracted back, it began transforming.

It morphed into something that looked like a dark elf, albeit with a reddish tint on the skin. Hadel prepared the dagger to finish the job when the transformed demon suddenly fell upon the other demons...

(OOC: DONE, someone continue from here :D)

Myrddyn hurled some of the seed bombs with all his might, channeling his energy into them as they flew. they sprouted in mid air and as they landed on demons the seeds grew insanely fast, entandling them, roots digging into thier unholy flesh and razor shape thorns ripping at their eyes. the front row of demons was rooted to the ground and the plants were growing rampant with Myrddyn's direction, being carful not to obscure the darkelf as he dueled with a Spider-like demon. a quick slash and the once formidable demon shrunk to closely resemble Hadel, and it turned and hacked and attacked the other demons with such vigour it was clearly as close to a darkelf as the Bloodwood Ents were to trees.

Myrddyn sensed from the vines that more demons were comming up from the rear, he directed the growth of his plants toward them whilst turning the sand before them to quicksand drawing the demons down, when they were waist high he suddenly solidified the ground to rock. that should give the others a better chance at picking them off.

Myrddyn noticed a single winged demon hovering above the lot, apparently preparing a spell to hurl directly at Hadel! He acted fast, sprouting wings and flying up and up, as he did so he also changed partially to his Dryad form with hardend bark instead of skin, and razor sharp talons instead of fingers. he charged the demon mid spell and slashed at its left wing, lacerating the membrane. The demon redirected the spell at Myrddyn, and a burst of flame shot out toward him. however the mystical shield erected by Nikania, as well as the fire resistance caused it to flow around him, merely warming him uncomfortably rather than setting him alight. Myrddyn decided to end it by unstopping a vial of White Sage oil and pouring some on a seed bomb, stuffing it into the demons gaming mouth and forcing most of his remaining energy into their growth. The demon shrieked as roots and vines shot out of its mouth and the side and back of its head engulfing it in a ball of glowing vegetation, it plummeted to the ground.

Myrddyns eyes followed its decent, and saw the battle was nearly over. Good thing too, as he was spent.

OOC: a bit of back fill on Seons story :p

Terni had quickly released a bolt into a demon to the side, then he glanced back as a thumping sound: One of the demons seemed different... and was pounding other with... its bare... hand!

He saw a large demon almost crush the Changed One. Hadel tried to stab the giant but he cursed to himself: what would that little dagger do? He quickly shot two arrows into the Giant Demon's arms, pinning one with a shield to its side and anotehr one that was preparing to strike onto its head. It shrieked before being pounded into mush by the Changed One.

Hearing a shriek Terni shot at another demon trying to dive after Myrddyn was diving down: He saw how high he was and the how fast the Demon, with a sword of flames, was decenting and knew . Pulling the bow with all his strengh he released an arrow.

It arced up, past Myrddyn and smote the Demon in the neck. Myrddyn seemed to notice it and tossed somthing up as he released another shot. The Demon suddenly cried in paid as my arrow pierced a bag of fluff that burried into its skin and started to split the inholy creature apart. As Terni look arround most of the flying demons, except for the one dying, are gone and the last demon that looked alive was being pummeled. He lowered my bow, but stayed alert.

Hadel couldn't remember when he had so much fun. He was, however, disappointed that dagger had next to no effect against another demon.

Then he noticed the winged demon, and that it was casting a spell.

It was also facing directly towards him.

Then the druid, Myrrddin soared up into the sky and threw a seed bomb at the demon, making it fall splat against the ground.

Then something hit him against the back. Hadel swirled around, protected by his own aura of darkness and Nikania's wards. He noticed a vaguely panther like demon, standing on two legs and snarling at him with claws.

Hadel was immediately filled with rage, and he drew up on the dark energy that filled the air. It was impure and raw compared to dark magic he used and it pained him every second of using it.

Then the panther demon charged him with his claws, intent on decapitating Hadel, who blocked it with his arm.

The demon's eyes suddenly shrunk with fright as it slowly registered what was happening. It stammered and tried to retract its claws, but Hadel already held it by its neck, and before it knew what was going on, Hadel brought it to the ground and snapped its neck with a sickening crunch.

He took the dagger back into his cloak and took out his dual blades, but by this time, the battle was almost over. "Oh well," Hadel said. He then suddenly screamed into the air as the pain of using raw dark mana consumed him. He then charged the ramaining demons.

Sjiveru's Journal, Day 4
Öü.
Our journey through Hell is becoming just more and more interesting.
Öü.

Today, while we were resting for Myrddyn's sake (despite his protests), we were attacked by some kind of demon. Some of a kind of demon. There must have been at least a hundred of them, and they were horrible things - I can't describe them with words (and I of course can't draw). The word 'horrible' should hopefully suffice.

First thing that happened as they attacked was that Nikania fired a massive wind blast that destroyed a good 70% of them. Unfortunately, after that her offensive spells had run out, so we had to fight on our own.

The most remarkable thing happened at this point. Hadel, our Dark Elf, managed to injure a demon with his Dagger of the Snake (something I have made a point to avoid), and the demon assumed the shape of a Dark Elf and began attacking the other demons. The odd thing is that that only happened that one time - afterwards, any injuries the dagger caused were simply injuries.

Throughout the battle, Myrddyn was throwing seed bombs (he managed to save Hadel's life with one), and I personally succeeded in using high-pressure water jets as an improvised sword. It was over quickly, but we are more shaken than we were after yesterday. Öü, the thought of those creatures is still terrifying. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

On the plus side, Myrddyn seems to have been able to gather information from some of the mushrooms, and it seems to indicate that we are nearing this Knakik person. He also has gained some information on the history of our current location, which is relayed in all its grotesqueness on the next page.

Hadel's new Dark Elf / demon creature is quite interesting. It looks like a Dark Elf with more reddish skin and dark black eyes. It is submissive to Hadel as though it were a pet (and it's a bit disconcerting to see a humanoid creature act like a pet), but it does not seem to trust the rest of us. I hope more than Hadel's command is keeping it from ripping us all to shreds.

Hopefully we will find Knakik tomorrow, and perhaps we will be a bit safer with him among us. I wonder what we're to do after we find him...

OOC: I can't wait till school's over so that battles don't start and finish while I'm off without computer access.

OOC: Thanatos would not have erased any memories you found important BTW and would have stopped if you were not strong enough.

A Taste of Battle

The others were spent. Now I had a chance to show off a bit. I charged for into a knot of five demons that had escaped the attention of Hadel's and struck the front two demons with my fist and my scimitar. I'm not sure which one can off worse but I think the one who was cleaved in half by my scimitar just wins over the one who now has a fist-shaped hole in his chest. They fell quite dead. The remaining three surrounded me. They all attacked simultaneously; they all died on my wards simultaneously but not quickly. Their burning souls lingered long after we left and will continue to linger as they slowly burn away. The rest of the battle was pretty much sorted at that point but I did blast some demons up the backside to encourage them to move hastily away from us...

The battle was over with cuts and bruises but nothing serious. I decided to use the remainder of the day to probe our little friend physical and mentally with my tongue, my mind and my senses.

OOC: Mod what do I find out?

(ugh.... Vertineri? I don't think that the demon speaks whatever language we speak, so physically trying to pry some answer out of him seems a little far fetched. We can just ask him, you know,)

OOC: Good thing too :p

Mentally probing does not require to understand the same language, what Thanatos would see is the images of memories, similar to what Myrddyn can do with plants.

IC:

Myrddyn decented to the ground and glanced around the corpses of demons, watching as they dissolved into a putrid mist, except those slain by Thanatos who seemed to linger, silent screams echoing from their mouths.

There was now a forest of vines, some still growing slowly from residual energy and the scene made Myrddyns heart leap 'At least i know these are not Bloodwood Ents' he thought. He sent a mental thankyou to the vegetation, and pondered what would become of them in this unholy place. he hoped they would not mutate into Bloodwoods or become fungus. The thought of this sickened him so he walked through the vines, reabsorbing the energy he had used to make them grow, they shrunk, not shriveling like they were dying, but rather 'ungrowing' Finally he used a small measure of power to force the seeds to fly to his hand, he pocketed them. feeling slightly revitalised he checked himself for wounds. only a few scratches, much better than his last encounter. a trickle of energy healed those rapidly.

He turned around and saw Thanatos prying into the mind of the transformed demon that Hadel had attacked, clearly niether of them were enjoying it as both of their faces were contorted in pain.

He glanced over the rest of the team, and noticed they were far more visibly shaken than himself, He was only shaking with a post adrenaline rush, but the others (except Hadel who seemed to really enjoy the battle) seemed to be shaking from the enormity of what had attacked them. Perhaps he had encountered the worst of it yesterday. he waited for Nikania to speek, as surely she would have something to say.

@Vetinari
When Azrael searched the demons mind he encountered something strange: Its mind were like the mind of a newborn child: it was almost blank. The only thing he found was a child-to-parnet like connection from the demon to Hadel.

Spoiler Knakik the Chronomancer :
Knakik were sitting infront of his cave, enjoying a good pipe of manaroot, when he noticed someone battling off in the distance. "Hmm... she arrives, finally"
____________________________________

Knakik were meditating when they arrived at his have. "Hello? Knakik?" a familiar voice said. Shes here he thought, and opened his eyes. "Ah! ive been awaiting you!" Knakik inspected the expidition crew with his eyes. "Hmm... you seem to be here every single one of you. Good" Nikania turned around and said to the expedition members "I cant say its been fun, cause this were a horrible trip. But... i wouldve been dead without you guys, even with the power i possess. Thank you. I will open a portal to Nokhran so you can go home" Most the the crew members sounded releifed at that message. "Wait. I have to speak with your crew before they go home Nikania" Knakik walked into his cave and gestured the crew of the expidition to follow.
________________________________

As they entered the cave the members of the expedition saw numerous hourglases, none of them had a identical hourglass, but then again... they seemed to look like each other so much. "You have all played a big role in this world's history by joining this expidition, but you will find out about that later. Now... i have a little reward for you all..." Knakik gestured the expedition members to stand in a line, after that, he walked down this row, placing his hand at each persons forehead a half second, then moving on. "What i gave you there, you will find out about later, or perhaps you wont, but now, follow me" Knakik walked over to a door in the cave wall, opening it with a strange word none of the expedition members could understand, and everytime they thought about what it could have been that he said, the word seemed to change in their memories. "Now, pick something from my treasury" At those words, alot of jaws dropped, cause none of the persons in the group had seen such beuty before. "By Sillien... this is... alot!" escaped Hadels lips, for he too were shaken by this enormous wealth. "Where did you get all this from?!" Azrael gasped, "Let me say it like this: I have taken one coin, sword, artefact or whatever, from each demon i have killed" At theese words Myrddyn realised that this Knakik probably were the only thing preventing the demon's invasion.

How is it going Dragonson? Finding it fun but hecktic?

Spoiler Rising in the Ranks, Part V :
IAeneas had no time to wonder about what he had done, and only a few seconds to make himself repeat it. He concentrated, slivered his eyes, and thought about where he wanted to go. The Seeker came into view, but Aeneas managed to do it again; suddenly, he was standing on the other side of the Seeker. He quickly found cover and tried again, trying to steer towards the cave which was just a little way off...

@Abaddon
Yeah =) Even though its more fun than hectic ;)

Spoiler The Gray Seeker and The Black Spectre :
Aeneas kept using this new ability again and again, going from place to place, allways on his guard. Aeneas slowly felt he could not take it any longer, but then he heard a voice wich he didnt know to be happy or afraid to hear. "Leave him alone, Seeker" The Seeker spun around just in time to block The Spectre's dagger. "He killed Froogle! our beloved freind froogle! And YOU sent him! You will all pay for this!" The Seeker hurled a sphere of energy at The Black Spectre, but he avoided without problems. "Whether you like it or not, i am not going to let you kill him" The Black Spectre vanished in a cloud of black smoke, and before Aeneas could notice what had happened, he and The Black Spectre were sitting in the cavern. "Congratulations, Shadowstep" The Black Spectre said, and vanished.

... I have a feeling that somebody will come for my head (and the rest of my organization) for this...

Or is it the opposite?

Spoiler Rising in the Ranks, Epilogue :
Aeneas sat in the cave for a long time. He looked at his left hand, the dark red flames licking up along his fingers without harming him. He pondered about what his future would hold now. He remembered what his father, who was also a mage, had told him. The virtues of a mage was control and responsability. Aeneas knew he could control his own magic, but the magic of this Forbidden Fire, it was somehow... Wild. He was sure that he could not harness the power he could bring forth from his palm, yet. He would have to be careful.

And responsability? The word tasted bad in his mouth. He made a living of killing people, who was he to feel responsible? Besides, he felt a certain loyalty to the mark, which provided him with such power. "It must have trust in me to grant me these powers", he thought. He would have to remain loyal to the flame, or it would die out from his palm.

His mind surfaced again. How long had he been sitting here? It was dark outside. Feeling strangely safe, now, he walked back towards his home in the city...

Well Seon... did you expect me to make a happy ending with you all sitting in a circle smoking manaweed? ;)

Added the rest of "Knakik the Chronomancer".

Oh and... i recommend that you dont use your Advanced Ability Points yet, since i got more Advanced Abilities to add ;)

I shall take the Ring of the Moon, it seems like a relic of my goddess ;)

After i added that i knew you would say something along those lines ;)

Yeah, I got really, really torn between the sword, the ring, and the shurikan. Then I said scr3w it and chose the ring :p

So is it? And can I store power in it instead of using it immediately as a shield so that I can use the power inside itbto form a shield later? (yaaza for shileld genarator!)
