Anyway, Id like to hear from TLC and PCH a.o. before we give YodaPower some decent advice. And Id like to thank Kinboat in advance, and I hope he sticks with this project for perhaps another unit :worship:

It's hard enough for you guys to come up with one, and you already ask for another? :p

     Indeed.

Thanks Yoda Power :) .
Personally I think that a hobbit worker would be the most logical choice, Captain Kirk. The fact that a hobbit worker is probably the most unlikely unit to be made without a specific request, as it has less demand. A worker is seen throughout the entire game, if it doesn't look unique or doesn't fit the culture, it creates a bad feel for the whole civ. Having a unique hobbit worker is a must for the culture/race as a whole. The alternative is either (1)shrinking one of the Cossack workers. which are odd in the civ3 universe (2) or shrinking the standard civ3 worker which looks primitive for the well know hobbit culture.
Another idea would simply be a medieval worker. That unit could then be shrunken to hobbit size (killing two birds with one stone). However the different cultures in LotR demand for different looking units. For instance the more primitive civ3 worker would fit fine for Harad or the Easterlings. Only the Edain could really use it, and there is already a lot of material to take its place graphics wise.
So, my choice would be a hobbit worker. A unique looking unit for a civ that already is getting a lot of shrunken mannish hand-me-downs.

Those are good reasons PCH. But why limit it to just a worker? If the unit also has some attacks (I dunno, maybe picking up a stone and throwing it at an attacker for example), then it could be used as a worker plus a type of resister. Or if you choose to, you could then split it into two separate units and that would then add to the uniformity amongst the units for the hobbit civilization. Just an idea, feel free to completely discard it if you like. :)

CamJH (and Kinboat, if you're lurking), it should have an attack, so we can give it a defense point. Otherwise it'll turn into a big bearded human when enslaved. :crazyeye:

Well, we can make redused worker and assign it to hobbits. It's quite easy with last version of my Civ3FlcEdit utility. ;)
Also I think that we have enough dwarves units. If not - lets reduse some of the already existed, like berserker, crossbowman etc.

My suggestion - Nazgul astride on a flying bestia. It will be really unique unit, IMNSHO. :)

Now, my opinion counts for roughly zero, but I find that choice to be more dissapointing than the fact that George Bush is about to win the election...

I find the choice most excellent because I have requested a hobbit worker/settler unit for some time and have come up with nothing so far. I've been watching this mod grow so that I can play it when it's finished and then rob it of the hobbit and dwarf units I may need. Especially the hobbit worker/settler.

That's an awfully major comparision there Mr. Do. But as someone who's living here I'm fairly scared ****less about the next four years and would love to make a hobbit settler.

"Where are we going and why am I in this Handbasket?"

That's pretty funny.

Sucks to be you on both counts, then! Bwa ha ha ha ha ha!

...just razzin ya, no worries. :D

----------Edit------------

Y'know, we really need a Giant throwing Rocks unit, just like the Panda Stone Thrower unit, so we can have (immobile) Giants in the Misty Mountains throwing boulders around!

Okay, dangnabbit, we don't need this unit, but I remembered that I requested it a long time ago when embryodead (???) was making a bunch of giant units...and it seemed like so much fun! :pout:

Well, I too think this would be major coolness, but as long as the barbs AI is broken it seems kinda pointless...

Would Barbarians use a Bombard ability? I don't think I've ever seen this done...

Gee, I dunno. They do bombard with their ships, I think, if given the ability (I seem to recall them bombarding my terrain improvements -- or was that the Byzantines? Dang dab it!) I wonder if the unit would bombard if that's all it could do, just sit there immobile on a mountain and huck rocks (and defend itself if attacked, of course)???

Alternatively, this could be one of the units belonging to a Forces-of-Nature type "civ," which could also include the Ents etc... I believe that option has been considered for a scenario map (when indeed we get around to it), can't remember what became of the discussion though.

I hear you :( . It seems America needs a slap in the face, more than likely what we will get. Just be sure to be prepared for the slap, and remember gold won't go down in value. ;)

Sorry for not being very active in the thread as of late. I've been busy graduating highschool and haven't had time to talk in the thread. Although I did have time to work on the .biq .
I'm pretty much free for the next 2 months, so I expect for the MOD to be done within half that time.
Oh, and thanks for doing this unit for us Kinboat :goodjob: .

I tested this bombard thing, but I can't remember if it worked with land barbarians. I don't think it did, though. The solution was to make a good and bad "forces of nature" civilization for the map.

Indeed, USA needs a hard slap in the face. Anyway, it seems normal in people to step on **** more than once. We do the same with our f...cking governments.

Fortunately, life goes on and Middle Earth mod too, now that you´re back and will have plenty pf time for this. :p

Time for a Bush = Saruman comparison! Just kidding, I didn't mean for any serious talk of the US election to seep into this decent thread, apologies.

Hey, lets stop talking about politics, the moderators don´t like it and have banned kevincompton for that reason.

How is the mod going anyway? Are you going to build a map for this?

Yeah, cut the politics people, please.

There's some interesting things done on the mod. ;)

As I've said earlier, we won't care about a map until the random map mod is finished. Focus, focus, focus...(as we learned in the first threads).
This doesn't mean we discourage people to work on ME maps on the side. :mischief:
