Mini-NotW IV: I'm on a Boat (GAME THREAD)

"Cabin Boy there is a flaw in your logic, if we would give all our weapons to you, on the moment you get killed are strength will fall dramatically. But you don't seem worried about that. Perhaps because you are one of the killers?"

Nictel, you accused the poor Helmsman, one of us who is obviously innocent and would not help us survive this dreadful situation. Why would you do that, other than to remove obstacles from your path? We would not have gained any new evidence, and us innocents would have been much worse off.

I am simply trying to help the innocents survive, and one way of doing that is making the game last longer, which handing me a weapon would do.

The Royal Guard Saunters onto the scene.

My dear chaps, I fear you have gotten it all wrong. After conferring with Krill, and literally subjecting him to the question, I am moderately confident of his innocence at this stage.(Although obviously not positive) Furthermore I must say that the likelihood of a bad guy, who was probably otherwise safe, coming out and making a proclamation like Krills is rather low. It certainly seems obvious to me that his ploy was destined to fail to gain himself weapons, and even if you are goin gto argue that Krill is not a good player (Something that I am not prepared to argue) then his bad guy allies would never have allowed him to expose himself to a mob like this. Thus lynching Krill is not the best move for now, he would appear innocent.

Now that Nictel on the other hand, he is a sly one. In our discussions, he claimed that his special ability was to break ties in voting. No doubt he hoped to get believed because of TFAs previous statements on the significant amount of tiebreaking mechanisms in the game.

He was wrong- I don't believe him. The reason being that if what he was saying is true, and that there are two direct and oppositional tiebreaking mechanisms in the game (ie: His Special Ability and the Captaincy) , then two could possibly cancel each other out- and that would make them worthless. If he is going to claim that this game doesn't follow NoTW rules, and he is the only tiebreaker- that would mean that the game would have no tiebreaker if he possibly died.

There is also the fact that accusing an inactive this late in the game- and thereby depriving the innocents of learning anything new- is rather suspicious. I know that Nictel is a good player, and I doubt he would have failed to notice something so obvious.

Thus in short, he lied to me, and seeing as he was under threat of lynch and continued to lie to me, I have to believe that he has something very dark to hide. My ability to save people from murder has been out in the open for a while, and that quite frankly, practically confirms my innocence. There was no reason to lie to me, he did, and now it's time to lynch the murderer.

Well here we go.

(OOC: First off, I did not notice. After you said it I retracted my vote.
Secondly Pinman I dunno where your coming from but normally it's not kind practise to go out and reveal once ability in public. You can forget further cooperation from now on. There are more than two tiebreakers. The bag of money? It somehow buys up votes. I am innocent and my ability is to break ties. I don't know how TFA made his system. I don't care. I'm sure he made it so that it will always work. I did not lie. Perhaps your rusty brain needs to get some oil. And that good player/not good player stuff is crap. Downright crap. I won my first game, everybody says I'm "good" well guess what? I had a lot of help. From CCRunner especially I would have probably died quite quickly if it wasn't for him. You say I lied and continued to lie after you threatened me. PERHAPS because I was telling the truth? You're making a big mistake defending the cabin boy and accusing me a BIG mistake.)

More than cannibals the captain hates mutiny.
"Your claims are false! I'm here to protect this ship. The cabin boy has made suspicious claims, claims that seem to good to be true. He also does not worry that him saying this would get him killed. If he is not worried about the killers, he is a killer. Now stop this nonsense!"

OOC: I had two choices- I could either vote to lynch Krill, or vote to lynch you. You seemed to be more likely of the two for reasons ive stated above.

Id show examples of where people have revealed my fake abilites in public, but they are all deleted.

IC: I might as well take the gold then.

"Bag of money to the diplomat who I trust more than the disloyal Royal Guard."

I know that at this point nobody can be positive about anything, but ill trust the judgment of my absolutely loyal royal guard. Nictel

(OOC: To the people who have yet to vote. Who do you believe more a person claiming to have an ability that would save us all but is for some reason not worried that saying this might get him killed or the accusations of a person who says that there can't be more than one tie-breaker because it is apparently "in the rules" even after TFA has stated otherwise? Also when CCRunner won TWO ties at the same time the captain at that point Chand voted for the other side. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=8179375&postcount=98. I did not vote there are obviously more tiebreaking systems in place. TFA (Let's not forget that he is in fact the GM and maker of this game) talked about
(OOC: There are ways to resolve ties that are not completely arbitrary. I had two built-in tiebreakers as well as there is the possibility of hidden votes and/or augmented votes. Discussion on this should end here.)
So there are two tie breaking mechanisms, meaning that even my death or me being captain would not create unsolvable ties. He also seems to speak of the possibility of additional and augmented votes. So it's very much possible for me to be a tiebreaker. And I am.)

Am I worried of dying, Nictel? Yes, I am; I fear death after our numbers are reduced beyond a teneable position just as much as I fear this lynching, and death by wolf. The end result of all of these are the same. And I fear that at our current rate we could be overwhelmed very soon, thus I have stepped forward and explained what we can do to save ourselves.

Nictel, explain yourself.

Uhmm I did? Pinman is overly paranoid, doesn't want to see the truth, decided to accuse me?

(I congratulate the bad guys on their victory.)

(You also need to update the front page. If Krill turns out to be an assassin, I am so saying "I told you so". :))

EVENING SIX

Everyone gathered on deck as the furious new captain begged for his life, but the mob that saw fit to elect him yesterday was more than eager to send him to his grave today. The votes were counted and he, despite earnest and numerous protestations, was tied to a cannonball and dropped off the edge of the ship.

Spoiler :
Nictel was Innocent!

There was an awkward silence after that. "Huh," the Royal Guard said, biting his tongue. "Who saw that coming?" With that, he grabbed up the bag of money, shrugged, and everyone left to their various activities as the night fell.

The Sea Beacon sailed on.

It is now NIGHT SIX
Those of you with evening actions, send them to me!
Day breaks in 36.5 hours!

Early, Early Morning Seven

The Royal Guard tightened the straps of his armor diligently, finishing the preperations after a short rest for his job tonight. Sliding his blade into the sheath and hoisting the shield onto his arm, he took a quick look at the sleeping Diplomat.

"I'll be right back."

Opening the door to his room, he made his way across the ship to the Merchant's Quarters, and to the door of the Bodyguard. Narrowing his eyes, he slid the blade free and moved to open the door, a calculating expression across his face. One last exhale, and he pushed, the door coming clean off its hinges. His mouth agape as he watched the whole thing collapse, he didn't see the shadowy figure behind him raise his boot and kick the bewlidered guard into the room.

Fumbling and dropping his weapon, the Royal Guard turned just in time to see the Bodyguard's fist slam into his face, sending Pinman reeling across the room, staggering into a chest of drawers. "Come to kill me, have you?" came the laughing taunt of the Bodyguard. "You're not but shine and a booming voice."

Gritting his teeth, the Royal Guard charged at the Bodyguards, and quickly tackled him to the floor. Raising a gauntlet, the ambassador's protector gave two solid poundings to the Bodyguard before he was forced off. Rolling away, he stood only to find that BananaLee again was much quicker than he expected - wielding nothing less than one of the drawers from the chest he had toppled, the Bodyguard caught his foe in the abdomen with enough force to kill a common man.

Luckily for the Pinman, he was neither common nor unarmored. Unluckily for him, he was still doubled over, gasping for breath. But the final blow did not come. Regaining his breath, he looked up to find the Bodyguard pointing his own blade at him. "Good try."

Eight black tentacles ripped through the wall of the ship, wrapping around the Royal Guard, and dragged him to the depths of the sea.

Spoiler :
The Royal Guard was Innocent!

Rising out of the ocean, a dismal, tentacled shadow of a man floated to the edge of the deck, softly letting gravity resume its hold on him. The sun broke upon the edge of the horizon, and the shadows were dispelled, revealing the Slave. Without hesitation, one of his tentacles shot out and through the wall of the room next to theirs, and with a scream the Merchant's Wife was torn through solid wood and immediately impaled with the Cutlass in the Slave's hand.

"You pathetic worm."

Spoiler :
The Merchant's Wife was Innocent!

But even as the woman died, the rest of the crew had been roused, and they were clearly not going down without a fight. A teary but bold diplomat stood with a Harpoon in his left hand and the wench's stiletto in his right, lips terse. The Helmsman wielded a terrifying long knife and seemed to be very well versed in its use. The rest of the boat was behind them, either crying or upset, but clearly not ready to go down without a fight.

But with a creek, the passengers were alerted to activity behind them. To their horror, the Royal Guard had been made into a hideous undead of some sort. The Drown lurched and reached out into the crowd, grabbing the Lookout, and with a terrifying roar, tore him in half.

Spoiler :
The Lookout was innocent!

The Sea Beacon sailed on, but all those who had either been killed by the Slave or thrown overboard reboarded the ship under a new master, and the ship was lost in flurry of violence.

Spoiler :
The Cabin Boy was Innocent!
The Helmsman was Innocent!
The Quartermaster was Innocent!
The Diplomat was Innocent!

Congratulations Octopus Overlords Cultists!

People who won the game and completed their goal
PaulusIII

People who survived til the end
PaulusIII
BananaLee

People who died, but completed their personal goal
Niklas

We knew it was you two... and you beat us anyways. BL was supposed to die tonight, and we pretty much knew that either Paulus or Methos was the second Octopus overlord. Paulus might have even been our primary suspect because he claimed not to have an ability.

(We even guessed that the bad guys WERE Octopus Overlords because of the bodies being dragged into the sea, and the one reference to octopuses. Even before then, from a PM that Bratman got when he was attacked- we knew there was another team of two monsters around)

Now thats irritating.:D

Congratulations on a great game Banana Lee and Paulus III.:goodjob:

EDIT: Just to clarify for those who werent directly involved in the situation, what happened was that I expended my Royal Armament to kill Banana Lee- but he was one step ahead and used his ability to block my night actions for that night.
