MLG7: Another Race to Space

Maybe start your post by making a comment/statement about the event.
Future pictures + saves will reveal the info.
Only text could be a solution, until the required tech.

It looks like I'm a bit low on numbers. :(
i tihnink it has something to do with your number of cities ;)

thanks for the help w/the charts ~ this is better! [and thanks to Sprite for helping out as well]

The chart is arranged by the All Science column (how many bpt your civ is getting at 100% science):

Though it is backwards from the previous chart, this graph represent the All Science column:

Next, you can see everyone's beakers per turn at their current sci rate (note: i just lifted this number from your game. While you can "game" the chart by upping your sci rate on your last turn, that's lame :) )

Here's also your best city's bpt:

As well as the civs current GNP (at current rates, and it includes commerce and science)

So, here's the first round of info (though it's measuring the 2nd round). Please comment on the various criteria i used as well as ways to improve or additional things you might want to see noted.

Just off the top of my head, here, i'm thinking maybe a chart that displays how each type of economy stacks up with the others of its kind, and perhaps an avg. bpt for each type of economy for some direct comparison.

Blid, we're bottom of the table buddies.

I'll play round 3 today. And I'll hold off on 4 so pholk can get everything together.

Pholk: I'd like a "Total Beakers" graph for the rest of the sets, I want to see if all this lightbulbing makes enough difference.

No real plan for this set, just play.

Spoiler :

Turn 0 (100)

Noone has much on their hands, which is good (Issy and Surya) but also bad (Monty). Arg, why couldn't we all be nice religious enemies!

Turn 1 (101)

Good god, Boston is an absolutely TERRIBLE city and I ama ashamed that I settled it. I think it has to win a cultural battle with Surya's capital to get its only food resource, cows.

Turn 6 (106)

Yuck, Izzy steals a lovely city spot from me. Goddamnit. I think I might skew the SE results, and I need to play better to be one of those Monarch winners.

Turn 8 (108)

I get a message:

Confucianism is founded in a distant land.

All AIs get a message:

The Pyramids have been built in a far off land!

Some AIs get a message:

MLG7 has adopted Representation.

Also, some people sight a band of orange clad travellers heading towards Philadelphia.

Turn 11 (111)

The word of the almighty peace loving Buddha spreads in Philly. Whatever.

Turn 20 (120)

SURYAVARMAN HAS DECLARED WAR ON ISABELLA! Good. Now I will have to declare on little miss if Sury asks, but I need to reinforce my border cities.

Turn 22 (122)

Ugh, slave revolt in the capital. -2 pop, and my units go on strike. Need currency soon.

Turn 25 (125)

Calendar completes.

Turn 27 (127)

A source of Iron is discovered at New York. I will not argue with more production!

Turn 29 (129)

A great scientist is born and I lightbulb Alphabet.

A massive mistake. Ah well, it might pay off later.

Turn 31 (131)

The other thing about Alphabet? Demands.

Monty asks for Calendar. He gets it.

He also has enough on his hand. I am sure he is going after Issy.

Turn 33 (133)

Monty declares on Issy. Cool.

Turn 36 (136)

Sury requests that I declare on Issy. Done.

Currency finishes. I can research CoL in FIVE turns. Awesome!

I get Poly and Pottery for Currency from Monty. I set research on Metal Casting.

Sury takes the city I want from the Spanish. :(

Turn 38 (138)

Get another Scientist. I want to save him for a Philo bulb once Monty will give away CoL or I research it.

Turn 41 (141)

Monty gets Feudalism. Bloody nice capital of his. Mine is better, Mr Zuma. Mine is better. I give him Clams for 5GPT.

Oh, and my two buddies decided tat they would trade away my tech lead.

Turn 42 (142)

Washington grows to size 10, MC finishes and I want CoL next.

I remember that Chichen Itza, the most annoying wonder in the game is attached to CoL. I am not getting it in trade.

Turn 46 (146)

CoL comes in, I switch to Caste System.

Philosophy also comes in.

Turn 47 (147)

I rejig the cities for science. Washington finds itsself with 6 scientists!

Research on a SEVEN TURN Civil Service. WOW.

You know, I was elated with the research times until I remembered that this is normal speed. Oy vey.

Turn 50 (150)

end

Result:

Spoiler :
Issy lost 2 cities. Feudalism is out there so she will vassalise soon :/

All in all, a good round. I want to settle one more filler city. And the great JUNGLE CLEARING PROJECT has begun, and the great JUNGLE IRRIGATION PROJECT will soon begin.

I'm waiting on a demand to convert.

Other SE players: Do you like to convert to Caste this early? I usually wait until I have universities whipped out (when I am not playing Gandhi!)

Save.

@Pholky

Don't forget that they have yet to reach Caste System (I think?) so maybe not all of them have yet to reach the top preformence of the specialists.

Pholk: I'd like a "Total Beakers" graph for the rest of the sets, I want to see if all this lightbulbing makes enough difference.

@Pholk

If everybody posts the techs they learn in each set (and their starting techs for the next set to kick us off) I can give you the Spreadsheet I used in MLG6 for total beakers + beakers learned each set; or I will even do the graph for you if you like!!

indeed! starting with rd 3, please put a list of techs learned so far ~ or even, all ancient era techs, + whatever's left.

@ All ~ hold off on Rd 4 reports until Rd3's charts are up, too, please ~

I've put a list of techs at the end of my round 3 report. It can be reused by other players to make data collecting for Pholk easier.

Grow cities, get specialists online. Try to get a dogpile going on Monte which probably won't be fun. Hopefully squeeze a few more cities in as well. Still haven't settled that great spot just SE of the capital, and will probably build a Moai city out to the west. Might also be able to squeeze another city in to the North towards Isabella. Also going to need happiness buildings and resources as my base happiness at the moment is 6.

Okay, so i've got 4 saves so far for round 3, robo's, tatran's, shadzy's, RJ's, but blid's save 'can't be found'.

I hope you all weren't waiting for my "go ahead" but if so . . .

Go Ahead. :D

I think it was nuked by the hack.

indeed. save attached. It's a pity all those lost files

EDIT : @Quotey : think we're on the same boat. You'l need to reupload the file using attachments this time

Hey Pholk, any chance you can add me to the Round 2 stats now that I've uploaded my round? Just want to see how poorly I'm doing.

Well here is an illustration of the total beakers for techs researched graph mentioned earlier. This lets us compare the economies alongside research rate as it it will reflect lightbulbed techs.

For those of you who have completed round 3 (800AD) but don't appear on the graph it is probably becuase I can't track down your save (which may well have been caught up in the hack issues).

Now if people want me to track this then alongside the save it would be very helpful if people provide a list of the techs they have researched like Blid has!

Techs researched example

So what does the groah show...

Well green are SE's and blue are CE's. So clearly a good SE is fairly well ahead at the moment versus CE's.

Does this make sense? Well to me it does as the SE in the early / mid game has the ability to lightbulb quite expensive techs (I am guessing Shadzy burned GS's on Philosophy and Education?) which the CE can't. Now what I expect to happen is in round 4 the "slow-burning" CE's to really take off and catch up with the SE's as their better research rate begins to tell.

For example Shadzy's bpt in his save is 60-70 verses 200+ for a strong CE so over 50 turns the current gap will be eliminated.

Views??

Nice graph , this seems more accurate then just looking at plain BPT.
I indeed used 3 GS to bulb philo and education.

My bpt is very low atm cause I changed my econ the last 10~ turns cause I have to get some university's whipped/build in to get oxford up and running , im wondering if the CE's BPT is still higher then mine when I get oxford up and running and my city's are back to working scientist in stead of growing and whipping infrastructure.

Will be a intresting next round!
