[MOD] Fall from Heaven

I think I can safely say, after playing for five hours straight: nice, very nice. It feels well thought through.
 
I was going to suggest that hints&tips on loading should be changed but they are already :) But vanilla tips should be deleted ("Alt+click selects all units"... and so on)
Do you plan to add all pedia entries?

I forgot about that, I'll run through and add some pedia entries for the nits and buildings that don't have them.

I am sure you understand, it is rather frustrating not being able to finish a game. BasicallY I have to play a whole game in one sitting to make it work, but that is just not practical.

Everytime I save a game (I only have this problem with mods) when I resume the game, pretty quickly it crashes.

ANY ONE Suggestions?

From that description it sounds like your computer is overheating. If that is the case you shouldn't have the crashes if you leave your computer turned off for long enough to cool down (more than an hour) until it has been running long enough to get hot again. You should also see more occurances of the problem when your computer has been on for a while, especially when running apps that use the video card heavily.

Zip up and attach your save file and I will see if I can load. That way we can determine if it is a problem with the save or your computer.

This maybe obvious (sometimes its the obvious things you miss), but you are loading the mod everytime you go to play FfH? And not just loading a FfH save without loading the FfH mod first? I haven't done this but im sure it would probably screw up your game and cause it to crash.
 
Kael: I am not sure how to "zip up" and save a file, I am sure I can figure it out. Sometime soon I will do that.

Aljayboy: I am not exactly sure what you mean. Everytime I start a saved Mod game, I am forced to reload the mod. I first go to single player, load games. As soon as I try and load my saved FfH game (or any mod), automatically the game reloads using the mod. Then it automatically loads the saved game.
 
Whenever I decide to play a saved Mod game I always load the mod through advanced/load a mod and then once civ4 has restarted with the mod i then go to single player and load my save, with no problems sofar.
 
I started playing new game this morning, I took Octopus Overlords.
1) Hints say that with conquest civic captured cities lose extra pop, but civic description doesn't say so... So which is true?
2) When OO with slavery captures worker, you get worker AND slave... It should be only slave or 2 slaves (because 1 worker you would normaly get worths as 2 slaves)
3) Elven archers are AI's disadvantage. AI uses them to garrison cities, while they can't get garrison promotions. So that is why every FotL civ always falls to my armies ;)
4) I conquered humans and enslaved them... Now my upkeep rises and I'm losing 30 gold per turn. It isn't problem since I had conquest so I got over 1000 gold just by capturing human cities. Problem is, I took city states hoping that it will cut my expenses, but it didn't solve anything. -80% distance modifier did help, but only a little because no. of cities modifier remains, and -25% gold crippled my gold and research. You should put -25% CASH ONLY, not commerce, for city state, and -25% # of cities maintenance modifier (it is possible in 1.61, but it was bugged in 1.52)
5) I was feeling really good when I saw my suggestion about march on demons in effect... hehe

MAYBE your suggestion worked. I tried your method. FIRST load the mod, then load your saved game. (I had been doing it the other way).

I THINK it may have worked, at least i was able to play a couple of turns with no crash.
I went out to get some snacks for I hope to be playing my game for a few hours this afternoon.

I have a CTD when declaring war on XABU - may be a resource dump of some type, not sure, there are alot of units on the board, late game.

Its crashing because Meshabber is attempting to force you at war with your neighbor. I am looking at a code change now. If you want to continue your game you can delete Meshabber.

K, this looks to be an engine issue. The crash isnt just because Meshabber is declaring war, you will get the same CTD if you declare on your neighbor. The CTD is because the computer is trying to kick the Saboteur out of Myrean and failing to do so (I assume it is exhausting its search for an acceptable place to kick it out to). If you move your saboteur in Myrean out fo the city you won't have the CTD.

The hints are right. I updated the civis description.

Got it, it will be fixed in patch d.

I definitly love to hear feedback and even though I don't make all of the changes that are suggested I do consider everything that is recommended. Especially from people like you that have been a fan for a while and understand what the mod is and why the decisions have been made.

Actually, I think that my video card is on its last legs. Since it is a laptop, I can't easily replace it either. It doesn't seem to matter how long the computer has been running or how hot it gets. When the fan kicks on I count to three and the screen goes black. I think there might be an electrical issue like a voltage spike or something. It is so flakey that I can't really figure it out. I took it to the resident "PC doctor" at work and he ran a series of benchmark tests designed to overtax the processor and the video card and we could not replicate the problem. Sometimes it will go for weeks without craching and other times it will crash within five minutes of starting up a game (and repete all day). Right now it seems to be crashing every time I play Civ IV or any other 3D accellerated game. I can use the Internet, email, and MS Office applications for hours and it doesn't crash. Needless to say I have been forced to take a break from FfH for the near future until I replace my machine.

Glad to see it's not a problem with your mod. Great job on this version 1 BTW!

I played around with it some before posting it here... forgot about that Saboteur though.... :mischief:
 
Does anybody know why you frequently get weird odds? It mostly seems to happen with Barbarians, I haven't done extensive research, but I frequently see:

Scout: (No promotions) vs Lion (No promotions or terrain): 67%
