[MOD] Fall from Heaven

the 2nd download link has been dead for a while now. Do you plan on hosting the file anywhere other than 3ddownloads? They don't support resumeable downloads for some odd reason, so no way to download on a dial-up connection.

I killed the civfanatics link because I needed the space for ffh2. I wouldnt mind hosting it somewhere else if anyone has a place I could use as a mirror.
 
Kael,

I've never used the editor before, and would like to fix this summoned WW issue if its not too painful. Would that be something trivial to change or would it require an experienced programmer's attention?

Anything you could say about this would help. I ask because I want to start a two-player game of the Battlefield Illuria soon (and 2 player games typically take about a month to finish for my friend and I) and I'd like to have this issue resolved (by myself) quickly.

Unfortunatly thats not a simple issue. Its going to require an SDK change (we will need to change how the core game works to build an exception to that process for spells and summoned units) so we will need to do some programming.

Okay. Thanks for letting me know so quickly. I guess we'll just have to use summoned demons and elementals as well as fireballs and meteor swarms judiciously and only when necessary. We'll look at them as the FFH equivalent of DU rounds and white phosphorus ordinance! The public just doesn't like spellcasters summoning demons or shooting fire and maybe they view golems as expensive publicly-funded equipment that should not be recklessly thrown into battle.

Good luck with the programming, and congratulations on such a great mod... it made me think "that looks weird..." when I saw unmodded terrain again!

Unfortunatly it won't work with it. There is a lot of new stuff in the mod that the Atlas map scipt won't put in.

Does that mean that i should be using one of the scenario maps... or is it ok if i use fractal maps?

Yes Fractal would work. The Scenario Maps not.

The Map scrips provided by Firaxis will take the Mod into account so it is save to use any of those.

it is often found in fantasy novels :
in the "Diamond throne" from Eddings : a whole bunch of people follows a monotheist religion whereas there existe a lot of gods... they just assume the other are either not real gods : ie either their followers are practicing a kind of witchcraft and are subjects of demons or either these churches are purely abusing there followers' confidence.
It is true that they still believe in demons... ;)
(an other similar fact is found in "Heirs of Alexandria" serie from D.Freer, M Zimmer Bradley and E Flint.)

The main church of the monotheist religion do not consider the others gods as true gods but as mere demons, angels... and thus less important than there own god... or invention. Nobody said that religion has to follows some objective reality... only that they believe their's... :crazyeye:


another thing : where is there a patch if the mode only gives me white flags, does the patch in FfH2 works for FfH 1 ?

No, unfortunatly the whiteflag fix will only work for FfH2.

hmm in fact, maybe I will need your help...

at beginning, all my units seems to either have a truly negative number of movement points : ie I will never move, either they are normal for the first round and then .. no more movement possible...:cry:
O've read from 1st page to number 73 (on 250) and nobody related the issue, but as I use the 1.61 civ patch and the page 73 was only talking about v0.8 of FfH (therfore I may be 180 pages from my answer) ... this may explain that..

We have seen this a few times. It sounds like you are good on the patch. You may want to rename your customassets directory to customassets.old.

If that doesn't work you will want to reinstall civ and then reinstall FfH.

Let me know if that doesn't fix it.

I was doing it in case it was the main reason..
(as I know quite nothing in xml and all the stuff. I decided that the best solution was to erase, and ... lose all my saves.. the more efficient way if certainly not the smartest)
currently I'm reinstalling Civ...

gonna see.
as it seems you already encountered it, my hopes are really really high now :)

anyhow, from what I've already read, this mod, and the FfH 2, sees awfully good, bordering the fringe of excellency... I can't imagine of what people may talke in 180 pages juste for going from v0.9 to v1.0 so ... gonna try ;)
 
When I try to install ver. 12b, I get the following error message:

I've downloaded the version twice now, with the same result.

Hello? Did this get noticed? :) It'd be a good thing to have it fixed - after all, one wonder being completely broke an unusable isn't a very good thing...
