[MOD] Fall from Heaven

Hello? Did this get noticed? :) It'd be a good thing to have it fixed - after all, one wonder being completely broke an unusable isn't a very good thing...

Yeah, it should be fixed. Grab a save before you do it and if you have a problem I would love to see it.

I wanted to sound in on heros being weak. Last night I trained Bambur. His first fight was against a barbarian archer within a city. The odds stated that I had a 99% of winning so I attacked and won but Bambur ended up with only a strength of 0.3. Once he was healed and had gained a level he did another attack versus an archer with odds of over 99% (99.6% I beleive). He won again but had only a strength of 1.3. The end results do not seem indicative of the percentages shown. Any ideas?

The problem ist most probably the First strike. That one is not calculated correctly.

The otehr thing is that heroes do not start very strong. they get powerfull when they reach a high level (which they do by their hero promotion with simply waiting)

1/i love playing the Orcs, how ever it seams a bit silly to resurch horseback riding to get wolf riders , perhaps if u resurched animal husbandary and capture a WOLF an then it to a city, then perhaps all cities could build wolf riders or just the city that has it..

2/is it possible to have a orc race that won't burn every city, that gets captured in this way you could have a more varied way to play..(orcs)

3/is there any pre made map for FFH2 with wrap around..

anyway AWSOME MOD one i play only now.

great game, need more maps to go with this fantastic game.

Wanna make one?

I could offer a map that "just" needs ressources added. Its the map from a german RPG, and part of the mod I'm just starting. Reason there ain't no ressources yet, is that they will depend on time scale and city spread for my mod.

But if someone wants to spread some ressources here and there it could be "finished" for Fallen 2 purposes in a matter of a few hours. Just PM me for the download if you want to do so.

Kael,

Thank you for all your hard work. Your mods add so much value to CivIV. I found this web site very late in my CIV career. Gadzooks; I missed so much! But better late than never I guess.

I fiddled around with FfH 0.95 for awhile, but I was a due for a break from CIV. A cuplemonth later I came back tot his stite and found 1.0 had been finished. So I ended my Civ sabbatical. Am currently finishing up my first game.

All I can say is, wow! I really like the design approach. One problem with CIV is (IMO) all cities end up looking alike. But in FfH, you really have to set up different cities to produce different units, or set them up for pur economic output. And the military balance looks like it will lead to some great battles. and once again, not everyone will have the same military. Great work, and fun.

But the trump is the wonders. I started with an 'arid' world, deserts everywhere, and few ideal city sites. But over time my scattered cities had grown fairly well, except a few with no access at all to water for irrigation.

The I built Genesis, solely for the +1 Health in all civs I exected it to give. BOOM! All of a sudden my desert empire was lush and green, and no one else's. BWAH-hahahahahahaaaaaa! What an origianl, pure momnt of gaming surprise. What an awesome surprise! What anw AWESOME wonder! Beautiful for fantasy gaming ... (though super-super powerful, at least in arid climes.)

Never, ever read the rules, or you'll never get the surprises. ;-)

Well, enough rambling. I could have limited this post to GREAT FRIGGIN' MOD!!! But I tend to run on...

Thanks again, and cngratulations for a fine job.

Glad to hear it! Be sure to check out Fall from Heaven 2 for even more surprises.

(why do I feel like Im an studio executive pimping the latest remake of some movie? "From the people who brought you 'Titanic', 'Throw Mama from the Train' and chlamydia comes the next great summer blockbuster... 'Titanic II, I cant believe we forgot the lifeboats again'. Coming soon to movie theatres near you. May not be acceptable for all audiences. No animals hurt in the filming of this movie but Leonardo Decaprio did sprain his uvula in the Pachyderm Proctologist scene").

This mod looks great. Unfortunately, the download is too large for people with modems. I would really like to play the mod, but chances of me being able to stay connected to internet for 9+ hours are pretty low. So could you break the download into a dozen smaller pieces. (Perhaps you could zip it up in a program like WinZip, using an option to break the file into parts of a certain size.)

Check out some of the download programs out there. They should allow you pick up where you left off if you get dissconnected.

Kael, if I downloaded a mod component....can I install it into this mod folder and have it working with it? I need help on how I utilize these components, or do I just wait for modders to combine them into their big modpacks?

I Keal, It's me again :)

I've a question, in vanilla civ, exp points from barbs is limited at 10, in FfH 1, is it outed or limited at 100? (I thought you removed the limit on barbs... but I may be wrong)

'cause I was on an island, I had the only elven civ whipped out of the map at the beginning, (with scout upgraded and domesticated beasts. lions and bears.. so goood :)) then all alone with barbs..
I've ended with some units with 100exp (lot of turn later) but next level at 101 ... horrible.. the units cannot gain more xp whatever the number of fight they win afterwards. (I'm still isolated from other civs)

So I thought : "hey, the xp limit for civIV is 100!" then : "1xp every turn for heroes is a boost, but only gives you the max amount of xp in the end."
but on an other thread I've read of 200+ xp units.. that causes my question :
did you put a limit on barb xp or on "gainable" xp?

thx.

Modpacks aren't easily integrated into mods, you will need to manually do it or wait for someone to integrate it.

Yeah its limited at 100. It was unlimited for a while but it made barbarian killing a little to effective a strategy.

Heroes can also only gain up to 100 xp from the hero promotion. The reason I stop it right before the next level is because I think it is rewarding to be able to get a level off of your next real kill.

Ouch. I guess Leonardo earns his money. :ack:

Well, for game 2 I kicked itup a notch to Emperor ... and I had by far the best non-scenario game of Civ IV ever. This game's surprise was Armegeddon. And this time the surprise was on me, as many of my best units vanished when the Queens of the Sea were armegeddoned out from underneath them. Fortunately, no war was happening at the time. Great mod, and of course I am going to try v2. :goodjob:

On a side note, the Fractal map generator has twice now generated very interesting maps for FfH games.

But on the bad news front, the game has crashed CTD twice on me on the same turn, a turn or two after Armegeddon was built. I don't know if that's coincidencde or not. I've never had a FfH crash before.

Well, just had to say thanks once again. :)
