[MOD] Fall from Heaven

I find the leaderheads generally suit the mod well. Animation would be a rather low priority in my opinion. Each to his own, I guess.

i didn't realize the art was from icewind... I like the blurry affect of the pics myself... I hope if you do get around to replacement art that it will have the same feel...

playing my first game now (it is torture because my laptop now only leets me play the game in 10 minute increments - I used to have no problems with tiny maps)... i used random tiny map and there is no gun powder...

I am really enjoying the fact that the oct overlords play such an important part in the game (hopefully you can make seamonsters from crab and fish resources that are based on ships like aircraft carriers - that way the monsters can't go too far inland :) )

Best of luck with the mod - see you over at OO

kael... got some more ideas on music (and once again... im [offtopic])... try some of CoF's (Cradle of Filth's) orchestraic music... i believe it would add more that feeling of being in a fantasy world... and the octopus overlords religion song erks the hell out of me everytime i hear it... ty

Question: Just downloaded 1.0 and noticed the setup file states 1.00c. Does that mean I don't have to install the patch? Also, since the patch is up to 'c' do I still have to follow the instructions in post #4945?

If you have 1.00c you have everything you need. You won't need to do anything new until patch D comes out.

Could you go through the songs in 'Mods\Fall from Heaven 110d\Assets\sounds\soundtrack\octo\' and tell me which one you don't like?

All of the songs in the soundtrack are free downloads by their authors off of the internet. I dont include any "commercial" songs in the mod. I do include small samples of commerical songs. I wont steal artists music but i will steal parts of pictures and small samples of music. Its my own personal line in the sand.

I hesitate to mention this here because I don't want this thread to drift off to an ethics or legal discussion (im well aware that my line falls outside of "fair use" and the legal issues). If you would like to chat about it, feel free to start a thread in creation and customization and Ill be glad to join.

To darkonion: that first paragraph was to you, the rest was just me blattering on. :D

This weekend. I have both of the patch d fixes that are mentioned in the first post coded and unless something big comes out it will come out firday or saturday.

Right now im working on phase 2 CTD's. I am so glad we havent had ctd issues with 1.0, they can be pretty time consuming to isolate and fix.

Kael, will be the civilizations in phase 2 differents as the standard civs in civ 4 are (i.e different leader traits, different starting technologies, unique units, etc) or there will be something more? I'm playing a game with the halflings and I find weird that their units and cities are identical (and I don't mean graphically) to those of the human (to not mention merfolks and undeads).

They are much more diverse than those in vanilla civ (let alone phase 1). One of the civs already has 3 civ specific buildings, 6 UU's and a civ specific hero. There are also 16 traits (not including Seafaring, which is a starting tech for the Lanun, not a trait).

In FfH 1.00c FfH editor.xls produces error 76 (Can not be found the route of access) when export.

To solve the problem I have substituted this line for
Code:
Open "Assets/xml/..."
by
Code:
Open ThisWorkbook.Path & "/Assets/xml/..."

I use Windows XP SP2 and Office XP SP3

The artwork for some of the Phase 2 leaders is beautiful, and from the civ descriptions you can definitely tell that there will be substantial differences between the civs. Balseraphs looks like it could be highly entertaining. I'm guessing the unplayable civs (Warrior angels, demons from Hell, and a resurrected god) are that way because the troops and/or buildings and wonders they get will be stronger than everyone else's?

And I just wanted to tell you I will have a big list of Pedia and tooltip fixes for you hopefully by the end of the week so you can put it in the next patch or the one after.

How awesome is it to get an issue and a resolution reported at the same time! Thanks Zeysoft, I'll get that updated in the next version.

Out of curiosity which file were you writing (or was it on all of them)?

I have the game installed in the standart directory, and i can't start a hotseat game

Yes! I think I finally found a solution, at least the following works for me:

Go to your /My Documents/My Games/<civ4>/
folder where all your local documents/save games are stored for civ.
(<civ4> being the name of the dir where civ4 is at usually 'Sid Meier's Civilization IV' or something)
Then delete the folder called 'CustomAssets' or rename it to something different.

This fixed my MP/hotseat problems completely, time to play online :D

PS. If this does not work, you can try renaming the <civ4> folder to something else. Civ will automatically re-create a new one with fresh config settings/local files. This is how I stumbled onto this solution in the first place... :)

Not really stronger, but they have some system use features that wouldn't make them very appropriate for player use. In Light it won't make much of a difference but Fire is mostly about the Infernals and the Mercurians (who are two sides of the conflict in hell) and the Illians get detailed in Shadow (who will be the other side of a lot of the quests).

And I just wanted to tell you I will have a big list of Pedia and tooltip fixes for you hopefully by the end of the week so you can put it in the next patch or the one after.

Awesome, I am looking forward to them!

It was on all of them.

Any luck figuring out why there are two year 1's? Start a game and notice it's year 1, hit end turn, notice that's it is still year 1. Then, it successfully goes to year 2, etc.

Wild guessing. The games starts 1BC and BC isn't displayed and then it goes to 1AC next turn?
