[MOD] Fall from Heaven

I'm sorry for the exclamation mark overload, i was just really amazed.

Year it really takes time, as i started that 3d modelling stuff merely some weeks ago. So i often have to try how to do things best, sometimes trace some steps back, and i very often have to optimize details over and over again, when animations look unnatural (ok a dragon does not really look natural but i think you know what i mean). And finally i want it to be as perfect as possible. If there is one really good dragon, there will not be the need to make another.

Here is a snapshot from the newest Animation (fidgetC). The dragon lies down to sleep for a short time.

The only MODS I can get to load are the ones that came on the CD. I've tried Fall from Heaven, Second Revolation, CivMore, etc. (I've also reinstalled and updated the program.) I saved all of these programs to the master MOD folder along with the pre-loaded MODS.

I choose the MOD from the menu, and it restarts the game, as usual. When the program reopens, it appears to load the necessary components and the title of the MOD is listed in the upper right hand corner. However, when I proceed to start that MOD, it's simply not there when I go to the "Play a Scenario" option (as one does when loading American Revolution, etc.). If I just hit "play game" at that point it starts a normal game. If I go back to the MOD screen and choose the customized MOD at this point, it just restarts the program and puts me in the same loop.

Help?!? Thank you!
 
Chalid. I have to say that is an extremely impressive model. I downloaded Blender, but have to admit to being completely lost. I'll just stick with code tinkering and let the art to the artists.

Jamnole: don't know exactly, but Scenarios often have thier own rules and specific map items, etc.. that may be fouling the mod load. Just a guess. Try loading the mod and heading striaght for Play Now! or Custom Game and it should show right.

Did you extract them into the Mods folder or simply save them there? Sorry to ask a noob question...

If the answer above is yes then why not try Single Player ---> Custom Game and then see if the mod loads. I've never tried to play as a scenario from FfH.

What mods are we talking about here ?
Obviously the mods you tried do not have a scenario associated with them (it's not a "must"...), and if you start the game normally it's apparently the same game as vanilla but actually there should be differences. Did you check the civilopedia while in the mod ?

If he didn't extract the files correctly the mod wouldn't load at all...

another solution: depending on how you unzip the mod, and how the mod maker packaged it, you can end up with a 'dead folder' that gets in the way. go into the mod folder and check to make sure that the 'assets' folder is the next folder in the line. ie. C:\...\MODS\Fall From Heaven\Assets. and not; C:\...\Mods\Fall From Heaven\Hall From Heaven\Assets
I've made this mistake several times and it would cause exactly what you describe, the name in the upper right corner, but no actual game cahnges

It will be a while before FfH2 is stable. I didn't want to break FfH1, which is essentially a finished polished product by dropping a ton of new stuff in it. If you want to play a stable polished game you should play FfH1, if you want to see the new stuff we are working on you should play FfH2.

In a few months, when FfH2 is relativly balanced and stable we will probably discontinue FfH1, until then it will stay supported.

kael... some cosmetic things need to be done and while playing i got the infernal gilmore thingy built and my game crashed on me!!! why??? oh yah it could have also been gettin omnisince... i dont no which one caused the crash... please fix!!!

that is more or less fair. Sorry I'll just go with your judgemnt now :p

If you can provide a save from before the crash that crashes when you reload and do a certain action to fix it. If this crash is from FfH2 please post it in the FfH2 forum.
 
I downloaded FfH2, and it worked. Unfortunately, many of the hints did not did not show up with the game. Instead, what did show up was some sort of game code. Oh, well:)!
 
Might i suggest that you leave this "mod" just the way it is and separate from FfH2. Reason this mod is almost completely different, ie FfH2 has way different types of units than FfH. Only change this (FfH) if and when a problem occurs but to me this is almost a finished product. A beginning game and FfH2 is a , well completely better one but less units.
Of course this is only my opinion and you what they say about opinions? LOL
