Forgive a relative newbie; I have a few questions.

On the contrary, you get five musketmen at the start and you can build as many as musket UU you want by delaying riflemen.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Musketmen obsolete with rifling? And since this is an Industrial Era start, don't we begin with all Renaissance techs, which would include rifling?

Ski infantry moves are saved upon landing, means it could move on land regaining all embarked moving points, means ~4 moves that era, and all this using crazy hills moves which allow it to move deep inside landmass and do bad things - pilage movement cost = 0.

Alright, I've never played Denmark, so I'm trying to make sure I understand you. I thought the Ski Infantry double move only applied to Tundra and Snow. Let me see if I've got this right:

Let's say I've got an embarked Ski Infantry sitting on my opponent's coast. Does this mean I can disembark for only one movement point, and with my remaining movement point, take one more move on non-tundra/snow terrain (or two if it's on snow or tundra)?

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by "their moves are saved upon landing."

Crazy, add there Drill I and Amphibious using Barracks and Armory - and you have Amphibious Monster who goes up kill stuff and pillage.

Amphibious doesn't negate movement penalties for moving across rivers, right? Just combat penalties?

And I realize that Drill I gives a bonus in forests, jungles, and hills, but I'm not sure how that helps in this instance. Don't most improvements that you'd be pillaging remove two-thirds of the terrain that this promotion benefits from?

Ah, they do save all their feautres upon upgrade.

 Does that mean if I upgrade my Ski Infantry all the way to Mechanized Infantry, I get this:

:goodjob:

I'd advise everyone to run a test game or two before starting this.

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that! Thanks! :hatsoff:

bomber cheese is bad enough, no need for B17s too...

One would think the new bomb shelters would've helped with that. Guess they're only good against nukes . . . ;)

I just did a few trial runs of industrial start on sp. You don't have rifling yet when you start.

NP :) So when does game start? I've perfected my start strategy :spank::sniper:

All joined. Let's see how it goes with your perfect start strategy.

Friendly remind to others as well: Just don't settle 2 city at the same time and then pick social policy. Settle one, pick SP, then settle the other.

What do you mean, E?

I know one thing you definitely don't want to do: do not pick any policies before you've settled any cities. Any free units etc will be lost (no capital to appear in).

This is some very good advice!!!

Alright, lets say, your SI (or SI upgrade) is near enemy coast. It have 5 movement points. 4 techs, 1 UA, as embarked. It lands, it cost 1 point. Now SI have 4 movement points left. If there hills, and there are, it have double movement (not reduced/no penalty - double move) there. Assuming there are , for each move start, all no-forest hills (very likely), tundra or snow (not likely) and nothing to wall its movement, it will move up to 8! tiles.
Obcourse all that Magic Glide stuff saved up to Mechs.

Ah, and obcourse it have CS bonus on hills, adding there Drill for Amphibious, it making it also well defended during those invasions.

Best invasion unit in game IMO.

It does not negate movement costs, but it means much for combat. Being so flexible as Ski Line allowing to pass river crossing sometimes just by arc movement thru neighbor tile hills. And that means that attacking cities/units thru rivers wont give you penalty . Tactical advantage which is very important.

Exactly!

 great pic TiVO.

Turn is away, submitting now. Foffaren up now. EEE, you get to listen to my techs for once!

Looks like an interesting mix of civs. Personally I find mine one of the most boring, but at least bushido makes up for that.

Careful with those first turns! There's a lot going on!

Taking turn in about 5h. Is all the ancient wonders still up for grabs in such a late game? Should I hope for a desert/river start and Petra perhaps? Or a jungle/marsh start for some serious trade post beakers? We shall see. Whatever the result will be I'm sure I'll be steamrolled by a warmonger anyway. Cause that just my lot in life.

Only the wonders from the renaissance era are available, nothing before that can be built.

I'm looking forward to this game. Something different, lots of planning right from the beginning.

Interesting map for me, my settlement seems likely limited by fairly close CSs. Hmn.
