[Modmod]Sunset of Civilization

It's Public Transportation, but Public Cisportation

Is this save compatible with the update from a week+ ago? Then I'll update if it won't wreck the save :)

The only recent commits that break saves are the ones from January 3rd (AI unit gifting) and possibly December 30th (merging DoC). If you are already on the January 3rd commit or later then you have nothing to worry about from updating.

That only goes for dikes, not for levees, I hope?
Yeah I think to help the dutch. :)

Yes, I specifically wanted to help the Dutch. In my experience playing them I never managed to get Hydraulics in time for the Dikes to really help the UHV in any meaningful sense. This is also the same reason I gave Republic the effect of doubling production speed for Levees. Now you get a lot of production pretty early so you can actually use it to build the Trading Company and the Börse in a sensible time frame, which is crucial for the tight Dutch UHV game.

It's Public Transportation, but Public Cisportation

What about Pubic Transportation? :mischief:

Spoiler Meanwhile, in Russia :

The Arch-Capitalist Stalin is warring against each and every Socialist Country in the World: People's Caste Republic of China, People's Monarchy of India, People's Theocracy of Iran, People's Rightful Tennocracy of Japan, Socialist Council Republic of Austria, Socialist Council Republic of Poland and People's National Republic of Italy.
(Me as Indonesia and Suleiman are also at war with him, ever since he recklessly attacked my loyal peace-vassal, the People's Monarchy of Mongolia. His attack was seemingly successful for Stalin: Mongolia collapsed right after he declared war. However, Stalin collapsed to core as well in the same round, so he couldn't capitalize on his mistake...)

Also, my only manipulation in all these crazy civics was when I converted Churchill towards Republic.

Right, and yet you are developing a mod priding itself on the changing of history. Clearly not, what with this inherent patriarchic bias, you heteronormative cisscum.

it's about changing history

Dear God. Can I have a look at the actual ingame names of those civs?

Btw I'm starting to think that crazy Russian bot was right, something seems off about city graphics recently.

Just wonder, your modmod takes 2-3 times longer to load then the original mod (2min), before he starts 5-6 min passed for me. I do use a none ssd game drive, however so it is a little slow ofcourse but same applies to the original. Wonder why this is?

Is the original mod with 2 min with or without all the modules, i.e. Varietas Delectat, Ethnic City Styles etc.? AFAIK the development version of DoC is without all those extra modules and you're supposed to download them separately, while Sunset has them all included in the repository. Come to think of it, maybe that really is the better policy and I would be wise to implement it myself.

The original is without yes. I think since the troops are more diverse with this modmod. I prefer the extras with unique troops per civs a lot more and the land textures is nicer to look at :) So I was just curious and you answered my question, thanks.

Unsure what caused it I play as Rome and The Turks (not Ottoman) appear in 550 and next turn are destroyed... The plague is present but there isn't much Persian army that can caused it... Not sure if it is modmod related or a common bug either. Maybe their Oghuz are counted as Barbarian and destroyed them?

Hi, just in case that you got your old commit working again for my previous savegames as Indonesia, this time I encountered red error messages when I switched civics.

Old civics are Republic / Civil Liberty / Tolerance / Constitution / Free Market / Multilateralism
New civics are State Party / Totalitarianism / Secularism / Revolution / Central Planning / Nationhood

[Edit] Nevermind, I think you updated the game so that Satellites don't give food anymore under Republic (a fix that Leoreth already introduced) and it's likely the error messages come from there.
I'll update NOW.

Oh, which PrivateMaps folder is accurate? The one you provide in the first post of this thread, or the one in the Master-folder, that says it's been merged with DoC 1.16.1 ?

Edit: not the latter, they won't load at all, so I stroke them through.
But also not the former, in the 3000 BC map there is a mixup between Chinese (starting in Babilu), Harappans (starting in Xi'an) and Babylonians (starting in Indus Valley).

And the other maps also have civilizations confused (France starts as Spain etc.). What am I doing wrong?

The folder I uploaded in the first post is only for the original release version, not the development one. Are you trying to download the current repo as a zip? If so, I believe you need to fiddle with the three map files' encoding or some such. IIRC there was some fuzz about this matter in another thread where someone explained the specifics but I don't remember which one.

Long period of inactivity from me, I know. My life has finally regained a semblance of stability for the foreseeable future again, in part thanks to the Corona pandemic that has now reached Europe, ironically enough. We shall see if this crisis is what finally causes the house of cards that is neoliberalism to collapse.

Ah well, my stated goal for this version was to merge DoC 1.16, and it just so happened that Leoreth needed some months after the official release to actually finish it with not one but two patches, so at least I'm not too far behind on my development schedule.

I now uploaded a commit with miscellaneous changes I made almost two months ago, so I can reserve the next commit exclusively for merging in the new patch.

The changes:
  • Rome now requires three cities in Spain and North Africa each instead of two for its UHV.
  • The French culture goal now only requires reaching half of legendary culture instead of all of it.
  • I fiddled with some world wonders' costs and place on the tech tree.
  • Democracy has now Medium Upkeep instead of High; instead of granting double production speed for Civic Square and News Press it now grants +2 happiness for Civic Square and Courthouse.
  • To make Vassalage more competitive with Citizenship the latter's upkeep cost got increased from Medium to High, and Vassalage now grants double production speed for Barracks, Stable, Castle and Smokehouse.
  • +2 Happy in 4 Largest Cities has been moved to Constitution, which now has high upkeep and instead of happiness from some buildings grants double production speed for Courthouse, Civic Square and News Press.
  • Tech costs have been adjusted all over the place.
I will now look into merging the new patch in.

I do actually have plans for such a feature in the far far future when the new bigger map has been in place for a while.

Edit: Granting a production bonus to world wonders in their historic cities, that is.
