Now I split the list in two, a 2008 past and a 2007 part. This should make my updates much faster to make.

Should I add more info to every mod, and what?

For example a scoring system on how much is converted (changed from normal civ4), how much is added (extra stuff like units, eg more of normal civ4), popularity (how much the community likes the mod), newness (how much new ideas, and how much reuse of others).
But all this is hard to calculate.

If you feel up to it, a short description of the focus of the mod (only a sentence or two) would probably be nice. Maybe also including what mods the mod is based on / includes (many contain EDU and Ethnical Artstyles, some are based on Varietas Delectat, others on Diversica, yet others on Extra etc).

An additional line with checkboxes / indications of what gets changed or added would probably be nice also. e.g. : unit graphics / unit types / civs / techs / resources / custom scenario, something like this.

I would not add a score system, this imo is subjective, so I doubt there is a consensus on which mod is good and which one isn't. This is more of a personal preference, some want certain things changed, others want them unchanged (e.g. only graphical changes but no gameplay changes, a fantasy mod versus a modern history mod). So having that info is imo good so people can draw their own conclusion as to which mod to take a closer look at - unless you base the score on some objective data, like number of changed / additional unit types or techs, i.e. having some kind of scale for this instead of just a checkbox as suggested in my above categories.

Removed old listing by date. Added extended listing by name in 2nd post (old listing by name moved to 3rd post). Updated the first 1/3 of the threads with more info, like mod descriptions, patch info, and unpacked size. What do you like of it?

Also if a modder want the description of his mod changed, please say so :).

Edit: Finaly finished the extended list after 6 hours of work.

Just wanted to tell that all the 21 mods that are updated in January is taking up 7.3GB installed (3.4GB packed)! Civ4 is still strong with alot of creativity :).

Please give feedback on the new list.

Hehehe..... wait till I update Road to War. And FfH2's new version.

Oh crap, there's a DVD worth. ;)

Just saw that. :)

Zuul, do you not include mod components? I just realized that you hadn't been listing my Random Events mod...technically, it can exist as a stand-alone mod, I just put it in the Components sub forum because it could be combined with other mods easily.

Yes well, it's hard to choose when and what I should include. It could get too clutered and could take to much time to update. Better that I update more often than having a too large list. I want to mod too and expanding this list much more wont get me any spare time. So no, no mod components are in the list.

Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire (RFRE) - Primordial Stew - Warlords 2.13
version: Beta1p3 - 25 megs - January 23rd

Status: Historical events (eg Hannibal, Spartacus, Cimbri, Social War) are covered through around 1AD (~280 turns). In this version all of the necessary python components are in. Some tuning, and fleshing out of the later events (eg Crisis of the 3rd Century, barbarian invasions, Jewish revolts...) and adding the missing barbarian tribes (eg Vandals, Lombards, Franks..) still needs to be done.

Updated most descriptions.

primordial stew: added your mod in the date list. But I think I will wait adding it to the extended list until it's converted to BtS.

So you will not convert it to BtS? You don't have that expansion?

I have to limit the list somehow, now the criteria is:
somewhat big modpack, updated in 2008 and is for BtS 3.13+.
Else people would start again saying I should have different list depending on different things and I don't have time for that. I want to get back into modding myself too.

I guess more people would be interested if it were converted to BtS. I saw several cases where people did not try a mod simply because it is not for BtS. So while a conversion is no fun, it would probably reach a bigger audience.

Made a few changes in the extended list. Especially smaller size on plain text so it fits better. Anyone have any feedback on what to improve?

Edit: Changed the date list, made it smaller, just linking to the extended list.
