YES! city flipping details.

At what level of discontent do cities start flipping to a rival civ?

When your happiness gets down to -20, then your Cities will start abandoning your empire.

Those contentedness levels appear to reflect empire-wide discontent. How is the city to be flipped chosen?

If your people are this unhappy, they will have a Preferred Ideology they’d like to switch to. We look at all your cities to see how close they are to the capital cities of the civs following that Ideology (and how much pressure you are receiving from each of those civ’s cultures). Based on those factors we can pick the city that will flip (and which civ it will defect to).

I like the modding tools for random events and i'm now more intrested by the diplomat system now!

STILL no answer for existing civilization overhauls?

As you guys have figured out, the third Q&A is live on the 2K Games Blog.

:D

Kate, can you please answer that question in your next one. It seems to be one of the more popular questions.

...and I am hoping America gets a good upgrade. ;)

There are a TON of questions to go through. Could you restate it here for me?
I can't promise that it will be answered, but I can pass it along. :)

Totally understand.

Question: Will any other existing Civilizations get overhauls in Brave New World along with France?

Thanks.

Any change we will see a change to the end-game screen? especially the worldmap at the end with the cultural borders at sea is pretty underwhelming :(

And when is the patch gonna be released that would also have the features for the versions of the game that are not BNW?

-20 happiness? Seems like a mechanic that may not work at the start. IMO probably could become completely useless in singleplayer as most people have little trouble with happy and on higher levels (emperor, immortal, deity), the AI would never even get close to -20 unhappy even with high tourism effects.

Only place I could see this actually happening would be in multiplayer

I hope it wouldn't be too hard to mod the -20 to something like -10 or even -5. I've only reached -20 once, and it didn't even last for a full turn.

And random events! i've been hoping to see them!

Yes!! Cities will actually completely defect to another civ. but getting to -20 happiness is a whole different matter on its own

It's hard to judge how hard it would be to get -20 without first seeing how strong the effect of tourism pressure is.

ETA: What ldvhl said.

I wonder if we'll get any extra spies, considering how they're divided into two classes now, and you need the diplomats for vote trading.

The random events don't sound very promising. I may be mistaken, but it seems that the answer was twisted to make city state quests, espionage decisions, and such into random events, not that there's an actual random event mechanic in the game.

I suppose the mod possibility is good, though aren't there already some mods like that?

I doubt it, because you have a choice as to whether it will be a spy or a diplomat, and I'm quite sure you can switch it from spy to diplomat or vice versa at will

I'm curious now as to what random events there will be in the ACW scenario?

Am I really the only one who has trouble keeping my empire happy (at Prince)? Only recently did I push up the difficulty, so it's to be expected that I'll have some problems, but I've had to deal with fighting a more technologically advanced Alexander who built a holy ton of wonders in his capital (including, yes, the Himeji Castle and The Great Wall, making his lands an industrial meat grinder) while having to fend off Rebels because the war pushed my happiness down to -21 :c5angry:...

Although, yes, I wonder how harsh will the effects of tourism be in your civilization's happiness... For this to be a threat, it has to be a pretty significant hit...

Also, I'm still waiting for my (snippet of a) leader's theme! :o

Hopefully they'll be loering the AI's hapiness levels in the patch after the xpac...
