Most stupid lyrics

The sun beams down on a brand new day
No more welfare tax to pay
Unsightly slums gone up in flashing light
Jobless millions whisked away
At last we have more room to play
All systems go to kill the poor tonight
Gonna
Kill kill kill kill Kill the poor…

Hmmm...kill the poor to solve all our problems...sounds like a Darkshade idea..

Who have you been talking too? That was meant to be unveiled at the Party Conference next week. ;) :D
Anyway, I couldn't claim that idea from THE MAN!! Yes, that solution was first patented by Vlad Tepes, also known as Dracula. :vampire:
It has a lot of merit, I'll say that much. :)

I generally like the Police (and Sting), but there's a line that grates me too:

"It's no use, he sees her, he starts to shake and cough
Just like the old man in that book by Nabokov"

(from "Don't Stand So Close to Me", the Police)

I mean, c'mon, THAT'S a stretch of a rhyme, all so you can pretentiously name-drop the author of "Lolita".... Sting can be good, but he can also be pretentious at times--there are other cases of this too. I'm not sure, but I think he also mentions Nabokov in another song on the same album (Zenyatta Mondatta), in "When the World is Running Down"... must have a thing for Nabokov or something....

But yes, that "Only fools rush in/only time will tell/if we stand the test of time" crap line comes from a Van Halen song LOADED with tired cliche phrases--it surely reenforces my intermittent, ongoing argument that Van Halen SUCKED after David Lee Roth left....

And the stupidest QUESTION in song goes to:

"Do you really wanna hurt me?" --the Culture Club

Well, I remember hearing that on the radio in the "Dark Ages" of "rock"/pop music (the 80s), and thinking, "if I am to abide hearing this pap a few minutes longer, I'm going to HAVE to hurt SOMEBODY, may as well be you..." or something like that. I dunno, maybe (s)he'd like that though....

This has actually been bothering me for years. It's from Billy Joel's Piano Man:

"...And Bob is a real estate novelist, who never had time for a wife..."

What, for the love of God, is a "real estate novelist" ?!?!
