Movies about Stalin

No such thing ever existed. But I guess we could pretend, like some old Russians do.

Stalin was a monster, one of the worst ever.

An athiest who believes men can be monsters.... youre some man for one man Eco

i cant find that scene from a soviet movie now, but it's great:

the car of the protagonists breaks down and suddenly out of the woods comes stalin, a replacable part in his hand to save them.

Stalin was a great man, he's just got a lot of bad press recently

How come there are none? Never seen him depicted in a movie, certaintly not in the way Hitler was in Der Untergang...

I hope you don't mind me taking this thread a little off course, but I wonder something about that movie.

When Hitler was in his bunker looking at Frederick the Great, did anyone else think that he was thinking about the Miracle of the House of Brandenburg, where the Russians entered Berlin, but the Germans still won the war (sort of)?

Yes. Too bad Hitler didn't still have an army and allies, like ma boy Friedrich did. Actually, that's really not 'too bad' at all, scum needed to go down.

There was an outstanding HBO made movie about him with, I think, Robert DuVall playing Stalin. Hold on, lemme check imdb....ah...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105462/

Here is a quote of the first user comment that shows up.

P.S. - You haven't kissed me yet, Red!

If there were ever anyone to play Stalin, it would be Robert Duvall. I think Tom Selleck could've pulled it off, too, though.

He was great in the sense that he kept his country going through tough times...even if he helped to create some of them in the first place.
Yeah, he was great in the same way Hitler brought greatness to Germany in 1946.

He was great in the same way that Kim Jong Il keeps order in his country.

And how Castro brought civil rights to Cubans.

If the Soviet Union hadn't been destroyed, he might be credited a lot more than he is now. Tsarist Russia was, after all, not a pleasant place either, and he did industrialise the country quite dramatically. Given what Russia was like before and after he died, it wasn't an utterly bad reign. Stalin was no Mao.

there will be a movie titled hossam: the glorious leader, it should e out in 50 years can you wait that long? itll be better than any movies about stalin

Hitler brought devestation to Germany. Follow the conversation and you'll understand my sarcasm.

Stalin just about prevented the same type of destruction happening to Russia though. So I wouldn't say it's the same type of "greatness" you're referring to above.

Both he and Hitler were pretty good at what they did, so I guess that makes them great and movie worthy in a sense. It's just what they did isn't entirely agreeable with a morally correct individual.
