OOC: Now that things have settled down in my life, I'll be able to actually play this game as intended. To start, here is a quick history of the League of the Just, to give an idea of what my NGO stands for.
IC:
Thanks to documentation obtained during the Littleton Raid, a great deal of information has been obtained concerning the organizations structure and history. Though much of the documentation seems to be heavily steeped in mythic lore, UN historians have been able to piece together a credible history of the organization.
In the year 2836 CE, a group of influential communist and Christian leaders gathered in Bonheiden, then part of the Flemish Federation, to form the Congress of the Righteous, an organization dedicated to the spread of Christian Communism. Their methodology in attaining this goal was largely non-violent, focusing on the proliferation education, union organization, private charity, electoral success, and human rights lobbying. While claiming to be a global organization, the Congresss main powerbase seems to be limited to the Low Countries and the Westphalia Republic, with minor chapters existing in the South African Federation, the Free Mayan Confederacy, and the United Republic of Korea. Aside from winning several major Parliamentary elections, the Congresss activities warrant little mention in regards to the formation of the League of the Just.
The major turning point seems to have taken place sometime around the year 2897 CE. During this time, the French warlord Jacques Dubois, styling himself as the King of Burgundy, invaded and crushed the Flemish Federation, along with several other independent states. It is believed that Dubois used various WMDs to secure victory, including nuclear weapons and biological and chemical warfare. The surviving members of the Congress of the Righteous fled in the face of this conquest to the South African Federation, at the time the largest surviving support base for the Congress. It is there that they reestablished themselves in the city of Kimberley.
It is shortly after the flight to Kimberley that the charismatic leader known as Jefferson de Haven emerged onto the scene. De Haven, under the pseudonym Seraphiel, began preaching that the world was too corrupt to survive in its current state. However, unlike some apocalyptic cult leaders, he did not advocate mass suicide or isolation from the rest of society. Instead, he talked at length about the need of the Congresss members to reform the world to the Congresss vision by the fire and the sword, if necessary. His fiery rhetoric managed to persuade a large majority of the Leagues surviving members to join his cause, splitting off in 2906 CE, to found the more radical League of the Just in the South African town of Carnarvon.
Over the next 65 years, the League had managed to grow from obscurity into a massive terror network spanning the globe. Sadly, the majority of documentation concerning the operational history of the League during this time has been lost, destroyed either by the League themselves or inadvertently during Interpol operations. What is known is that as of the year 3000, the League of the Just holds a membership of roughly 10,000 in over 89 separate states. The League is known largely for supporting various socialist and communist uprisings. The League has also been behind several high profile terrorist acts, including the assassination of Hayley Corps CEO Joseph Grimes, the 2945 Kenyan Blackout, and the Lancaster Incident.
On June 14th, 2973, Interpol managed to seize a lucky break in its continued fight against the League. An anonymous informant, codenamed Gladstone, tipped off Interpol agents to a major League training facility outside of Littleton, in the then thriving Denver Republic. Interpol quickly organized a strike force, and on July 5th, launched an assault on the facility. After a swift battle with League forces, Interpol was able secure the facility. Using information obtained from Gladstone, Interpol agents were able to infiltrate the facility from alternate access points and seize valuable information concerning the organization before it could be destroyed. The information seized was the most comprehensive data cache yet recovered concerning the inner working of the League of the Just.
