Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Seriously? I'm so three thousand and eight and you're like, two thousand and late.

ooc: tis more a reference towards PF's support of Obama IRL, and the conception of aforementioned incumbent El Presidente in some quarters of his electorate.

Translated mostly into English from Mediterranean for the ease of the reader.

People of Rome, I regret to inform you of horrible news. The nation we were once allied to, Partitionia, was ruthlessly invaded sine casua belli (without reason for war) by the USSR. The noble Poles are under the threat of genocide, the likes of which have not been witnessed since the Lacuna Project wiped the horrible fallout from the Earth. We will not stand for such a blatant war crime. The Respublica Romae (Republic of Rome) hereby declares war upon the USSR. Ego Partitioniae promitto adversas vincemus (I promise to Partitionia we will conquer the enemy).
-Gaius Marius Flavius, Consulus Maior de Romā.

Wrong wrong wrong! They stole from the USSR, and damaged our industry. (He confessed to doing it when tani announced my invasion in the IOT chat ^_^)

Ya'll are liars.

I have not done any espionage against any nation in this entire game. The USSR is just trying to fabricate an excuse for it's imperialist actions.

My industry was terrible, and I was poor even before that. To further cripple the Soviets was a blatant act of war.

In addition, there was information that revealed he intended to nuke the USSR (and other countries) in the future. I couldn't allow that to happen.

In short, a preemptive strike against a nation that actively and willingly used nuclear weapons to kill millions, as well as one who was quickly building up a program to do the same thing again.

When the insurrections occur next turn, Catalonia will become a GCI territory (as Sonereal prescribes), and government Victoria shall be in Katter hands.
Strike two.

Also, is Yuri part of my territory or something, or did someone make a coloring mistake?
He's Antarctica. As in, all of it.

My children, I come down from the Mountain with a tablet in each hand. Within each is inscribed a new rule that shall hopefully lay to rest a balancing issue that will keep making itself known otherwise.

As it stands, investments in trade are twice as profitable as Industry.

As such, I could either nerf trade value as I did before, OR, make it so Industry has extra perks. Industry already has the value of increasing 10% each turn, so every 10 gold is well worth it. Now, I am introducing more perks.

Rule Number One: Falling below the first world HDI average will incur revolt risk. Your HDI is your Industry, which represents GDP per capita at the end of the day. Yes this is a butchering of stats, but foxy doesn't care. :p Your people are pampered and expect that a first world country will be able to give them a good quality of life. Provided you have low instability, the higher RR will just mean constant tax lowering, but as the instability grows...

Abridged: What this means is someone in the lead like London now has -8% RR from being so prosperous; their people are content and happy with the government's economic management. Victoria's people, by contrast, have +7% RR now, they are angry at the government's management.

Ruler Number Two: Your Industry value caps your military/espionage value. It's easy to follow: 0.0300 Industry means you can have 30 in any field, 0.0200 means you can have 20, etc. This only applies to spending; points can still be gained through experience. Logic: A third world nation could not hope to field an army as well-trained or well-equipped as the US, German, UK, etc. armies.

Rule Number Three: A state's industry can at most double each turn. This is to prevent the exchange rates system from resulting in hilarious stupidity. This is for humans' benefit as well - it keeps minor nations from becoming economic giants.

One stat to rule them all...

The net effect is no one can afford to neglect Industry, and it also means I don't need to constantly adjust trade.

At the same time, no one can spam industry to such a large extent they undermine the stability of all other nations.

==Australian War==

Victoria possesses 8 armies and 10 fleets. 2 armies and 2 fleets stay on defense back home, while 8 fleets go to protect against outside intervention. 4 Victorian armies take up position along the border.

Katterland have 7 armies, 6 fleets and 5 air wings. 7 armies attack Oz; with 5 air wings offering air support. 4 fleets group with Victoria's to blockade Oz.

2 Katter fleets and 2 Victorian armies claim 2 provinces in the name of Katter.

Oz has 4 armies, 2 fleets and 4 air wings.

The UN has dispatched 10 armies and 10 air wings to Australia, supplemented by 10 naval vessels so as to guarantee supply lines. Having taken up position between the Oz and Victorian forces, neither side's armies will attack eachother without authorisation.

Oz' fleets open fire on the 4 Katter and 8 Victorian fleets. Naturally, the Oz fleet fails, and is sunk. Oz does manage to blow a hole in one Victorian fleet, however, sinking it.

Meanwhile, the Katter army waltzes in unopposed. Where are the Oz forces?

As Katter's forces moved in, protecting by their air units, Oz' own airforce had avoided combat entirely, loaded into air armadas, and has paradropped into Katterland proper, with the goal of taking the area.

Fortunately, 4 Victorian divisions are there to greet them. Who shall emerge victorious?

Victoria repels the assault; Oz loses 1 division and Victoria does as well.

Katterland seizes Oz' capital once again, with 7 provinces. Of the 8 provinces, 5 defect.

5.745 million people are seized; of these, 575,000 die. Katterland's industry degrades several points due to the poor quality of Oz forces.

Oz is left with a pitiful army, a pitiful economy, and no assistance. It is not a matter of if, but when, they will fall.

Location: Somewhere in Region O

The facilities small holo-conference room flickered into life with a loud hum. Very little of the budget was spent on maintenance so the system was a little creaky. After a second the image resolved into a grainy 3D image of the Chairman.
"Report, agent OS-33877" he said
"I have good news, sir" replied Ana, "we have successfully miniaturised technology E699843. Although the samples recovered from regions E and Y were damaged we were able to strip them for enough parts to create five working examples, which we were able to reverse-engineer."
"Implant potential?" enquired the Chairman.
"Technology X3544 is fully implantable, although the size of the emitter and power cell require replacement of the radius. We have managed to construct it from entirely from non-metallic elements so that in conjunction with our normal implant shielding technology it is completely undetectable by non-surgical methods."
"Excellent work, agent OS-33877, begin disseminating schematics and implant procedures to our major facilities immediately. X out."
The image blinked out and Ana left the room. She scratched her right arm in an attempt to distract her from the heat just below her elbow. She knew it was psychosomatic, zero-point energy cells don't give off heat, but it was irritating nonetheless. She decided to go down to the facilities rudimentary shooting range and zep a few targets, that should take her mind off it.

Location: Somewhere...

Chairman X turned from the dormant holoprojector and pressed an intercom button.
"Inform Chairmen E and Y that their agents in high risk zones are to be implanted with technology X3544 at the earliest opportunity. Actually given the situation in Chairman I's region he should also be informed"

The Empire of China declares war on USSR. We shall not allow warmongers to rule the world.

Thorvald, I was talking of the NPC above me- I thought that was Yuri.

De Pecuniā Romae, circa 3763 Ab Urbe Conditiā (About the money of Roma, around 3763 AUC (after the founding of the city, or Rome))
Written by Iunius Brutus Livonius
Translated into English from Mediterranean for the ease of the reader

The money of modern Rome is based off of the old Roman system of the denarius, but also uses a more advanced system for large quantities of money. The denarius ({D}) is the base unit, with the aureus being the lowest coin, and the mille being the highest. Here is the conversion table for all of the currency below 1000 denarii:
|Aureus|Deceus|Denarius|Quinarius|Decarius|Quadranius|Centarius|Quingentarius|Mille
Aureus|1|10|100|500|1000|2500|10000|50000|100000
Deceus|.1|1|10|50|100|250|1000|5000|10000
Denarius | .01 | .10 | 1 | 5 | 10 | 25 | 100 | 500 | 1000
Quinarius|.002|.02|.2|1|2|5|10|100|200
Decarius|.001|.01|.1|.5|1|2.5|10|50|100
Quadranius|.0004|.004|.04|.2|.4|1|4|20|40
Centarius|.0001|.001|.01|.05|.1|.25|1|5|10
Quingentarius|.00002|.0002|.005|.001|.02|.05|.2|1|2
Mille|.00001|.0001|.001|.005|.001|.025|.1|.5|1

For values transferred that equal over 1 Mille, usually Datachips are used, which directly transfer the money from a bank account. To prevent theft, these chips require both a retina and fingerprint scan, but are usually more convenient than carrying around the heavy coins.
OOC: 1 mille=1 gold, for RP purposes.

As Katter's forces moved in, protecting by their air units, Oz' own airforce had avoided combat entirely, loaded into air armadas, and has paradropped into Katterland proper, with the goal of taking the area.

edit: Sneaky. Katter is smarter than that though and brought in other people to do his defending for him :p. Wouldn't of done it if that dastardly UN peacekeeping resolution hadn't passed, since there would of been plenty of native forces to do the same job, but in hindsight it turns out the resolution wasn't so bad afterall since it saved me a lost division or two.

Anyways, Tani, I must ask why I lost industry since Im not sure what you mean by "poor quality of Oz forces"
