Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Taking out veterans is kinda easy when said veteran is playing a country that is for the most part pacifist, keeping only a small army. And the war is not yet over.

I suggest that everyone should not post the talking outside of the thread. The claims of photoshop are annoying and it leaves a bad taste in what is supposed to be a fun game.

Patchy has the right idea. All of the misquoting and screencapping on SonIOT that gets through to the IOTs gets annoying. What happens in SonIOT should stay in SonIOT, for lack of better words.

I would like to point out that if you delve deeper in this thread, multiple screenshots were used against me, incriminating me when I said that I would commit genocide against Partitionania.

They also informed me that the chat was constantly in character.

I wasn't the first one to post screenshots to shed light on the character of another player, so for you to say that I'm in the wrong by doing so now is completely ridiculous.

Doesn't matter, lets just all agree to stop using those in the thread and the Social groups. The game becomes a nicer place without everyone attacking eachother and taking things personally.

Take Tyo for example, I popped in right next to him because I needed someone to fight to test the game for my next nation. You don't see him throwing a hissy fit about it though.

My ruling on screencapping and chats as a resource:

If players detailed war plan in chat, I see no reason why it couldn't be used. Use your better judgement when commenting on the MP2 world in chat. Even if you're joking about nuking the world, it probably isn't best to say it. If Obama, Putin, Cameron or any of the like joked about nuking the world, do you think it would go over well?

As for photoshopping - it's underhanded, but deception and manipulation are part of the game.

As for personal insults - those are not allowed by my rules or CFC's. Disputes should be entirely geopolitical, not personal.

Innn other news...

KNOWING that 400 gpt might be just a wee bit unbalanced

SENSING that OCP is going to be engaged in geopolitics

USING market forces, boycotts and scared investors as an IC justification for such,

OCP's profitability has been halved. It's still raking in 200 gpt, well within the range of most players, and far more balanced. Since the raw corporations do not engage in politics (their HQ states do; the corporation is legally a separate entity and really is just a means to increase clout and income), their vast financial resources were never a problem. 400 gpt in a world of 200 gpt players is a bit much, especially when handed out for free.

I will also note corporations do not have military, WMD, or espionage abilities.

NGOs do, but this is because NGO is a polite term for "terrorist" rather than its literal meaning of "non-government organisation." :p

Theoretically, give their funds to whoever they want as much as spend it on branches.

You know, I agree with you two. These sort of statements are what gave me a bad feeling and taste to any IOT games. I agree, that what happens in SonIOT should stay there.

==Catalan Civil War==

9 Roman armies arrive in Byzantine and Roman ships.

4-5

Rome kills 3 armies, the Catalans kill 1. Rome claims the 4 provinces for itself, rather than repatriating them. 1.202 million people are seized, but displacement causes 120,000 to be lost. Rome gains 38 Industry.

The Catalonian government attempts a coup against the rebel leadership. It succeeds, and the rebels are taken into royal custody. Support for hard-right economic policies quickly begins to weaken, due to their association with treason.

The Catalan state is reunified. Catalonia requests that Rome, as an ally of Catalonia, return the 4 provinces it has taken.

==Victorian Civil War==

A quick coup decapitates much of the rebel leadership, and the rebels return to the fold of the Empire of Katterland. The rebel support base dissipates, and the Catholic-Redeemer cause is triumphant.

“I’m sorry, he’s occupied at the moment.”

“But I have A-3 priority clearance! Here—” He reached into his inside suit pocket and handed the secretary a passkey. She looked at it dubiously.

“Alright,” she said, passing it back, “I’ll try.” She picked up the phone receiver and tapped a button. “Mr. Heng to see you, sir; he says it’s urgent.” She hung up, surprised. “Go right in.”

He quickly proceeded down the hall, stopped before the door, and hastily straightened himself out. Two knocks.

“Come in.”

He pushed open the door and stepped inside, nearly running into the man and his guest. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t realize—”

“That’s alright,” he cut in, “We were just finishing up.”

Heng blinked in surprise as he registered the other man. “Ganbataar!” he exclaimed.

“Heng,” he nodded, before stepping past him and out of the room, closing the door as he left.

“So,” said the man, returning behind his desk, “What have you found?”

“The motherlode,” he breathed. “Those legends about Iblis’ secret complexes? All true.” He withdrew a microchip from his inside pocket and passed it across the desk. “Personnel details, facility schematics, test reports... everything.”

The man took the chip out of its protective casing and plugged it into his computer. “Any information on the bases themselves?”

“Haven’t been accessed. At least, not within the past couple centuries. After Iblis imploded, they were either sealed off or caved in. It would probably take a few years to dig them out again, and from what we’ve gathered Manchuria has no desire to dredge up that stuff.”

He browsed through the files in silence for a few moments. “Good work,” he said at last. He opened a drawer and retrieved a microchip of his own, which he passed to the agent. “I have a new assignment for you. Our friends in Europe learned that London was working on something big before the rebellion. They don’t know what it was, but the few clues they gathered suggest it was some sort of biochemical weapon. SUDS was on the trail, but the war has shifted their priorities. The full details you can read on your own time,” he pointed to the chip. “I want you to go to England and pick up where SUDS left off. Find out what London was working on, and where it is now.”

“Yes sir,” he said, pocketing the chip. He hesitated. “Do you think... this is related to UMBRACEL?”

“It’s a distinct possibility,” he replied. “Public records on Iblis’ chemical programme are frightening enough; if the shadow branch existed and was developing something even worse, it could very well have found its way onto the black market. That is what you will have to find out,” he smirked. He rose from his seat, and the men shook hands. “Contact information and travel arrangements will follow in three days. Until then, get some rest. You’ve earned it.”

“Thank you, sir.”

China assembles aid package for Australia

With instability on the Australian continent finally appearing to wane, the Chinese Union has negotiated a relief fund for Oz territories totalling approximately 30 million renminbi. The fund is intended to assist in reconstruction projects for the embattled regions, which recently surrendered to Katterland after its controversial invasion nearly eliminated the country.

While Parliament voted strongly in favour of the package, there were criticisms of how the aid would be implemented. The government had intended to distribute the funds directly via humanitarian agencies and industrial contracts negotiated with the Katter régime, but Katterland insisted the package be paid to the state.

“It makes no sense,” said Social Justice MP Ju Bolin, “We have all the necessary facilities for distributing the aid ourselves, but [the Katter government] would not accept the package unless it went straight to them. Not only does it add an unnecessary bureaucratic hurdle to implementing recovery, but it also removes accountability for how the funds are used.”

The Global Solidarity party also challenged the package, claiming it was “tacit consent to Katterland’s self-serving agenda in the Australian War”.

The Prime Minister defended the decision, stating that “While the international community may have failed to give Australia its due attention, we can at least act to alleviate the current suffering of its citizens.”

The opposition has dismissed the statement as a flimsy attempt to justify a response to the crisis that is “too little, too late”.

A few turns of increased risk for you.

Two countries now have nuclear weapons, and one country has biological weapons. I will send PMs identifying these countries.

T1 Warheads cost 50 gold to purchase.

I knew they would cost an egregious amount of money!
