Multipolarity III - Game Thread

Japan has no further comment to make. Shikataganai. Or, using a n expression you can understand, the die is cast.

Peace In Our Time?

Aden and Ethiopia have signed the Treaty of Axum. Ethiopia has agreed to cede its two southern provinces to the Axumite Empire. It has also changed its name to the Holy Republic of South Sudan.

Granada has also averted open war with Romnesia, with the Treaty of Conakry. The terms of the agreement are that Romnesia cede the disputed territories, and a five-year non-aggression pact between the two powers. Though Enerjak’s advisors are wary of trusting Romnesia due to violation of its prior treaty arrangements, the Enerjak has calmly responded that there is no shortage of troops should good faith be violated.

@Japan: We stand by your decision in the Romnesian Crisis.

Son of a ....

Tani? :mischief:

Official Statement:

Once Namibian lands are removed from near Romnopolis, we will lift the blockade. We cannot lift it currently, or that will only allow more forces and lives to be lost. We will however, lift it once the Dirty Commies are dealt with.

You know, the foreign policy of containment haven't been proven to work. The Solitudian Chief of Naval Operations question the validity of blockading your own waters when it can be done against foreign waters as it has gotten you in hot water in previous years. This open conflict against the Namibians has evolved into nothing more than a policy of Revanchism.

We have gotten our rightful lands return and people liberated, have we not?

Iran announces that it is placing Romnesia under embargo for admitting its intent to evict Namibians from lands that are rightfully theirs, and hoarding lands when it is in such short supply.

Australia is also seconding this motion.

Mongolia thirds. The Namibs have the right to inhabit lands their people have tamed while Romnesia was busy trying to ensnare other nations. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

Tanzania fourths. This becoming war of nations and not of nation-states will be disastrous for Africa. For the love of Aether, negotiate five provinces Namibia may continue to settle, or be deemed a ruthless imperialist.

France fifths. Romney bro, this is getting mad crazy. Then again you –are- aligned with Uganda so I guess a desire to enslave a free people comes naturally…

Uganda protests France's remarks! Roboticising people is evolving them, not enslaving them! Blasted illiterate pincushion...

Official Statement From the Holy See on Romnesian Intentions.

-

The Holy See reaffirms its opinion, particularly as current holder of the General Secretariat of the United Nations, that Romnesia's efforts to blockade lands that are not under its own territorial sovereignty is contrary to international norms, and should be by all nations everywhere opposed.

We also condemn Romnesia for its imperialism and admitting its intent to evict Namibians from lands they legitimately colonised and which have never been under Romnesian sovereignty. This combined with its craven and duplicitous act of breaking a peace treaty weeks after it was signed, and its continued insistence on blockading land that was never its in an absurd bid to hoard land for itself in a world where land is in short supply would seem to show that Romnesia far from being a completely innocent party in the War in Africa, is in truth an equal collaborater in the degenerate violence that persists on the African continent.

If Romney is truly a man of good faith and intent, and not precisely the kind of man his enemies paint him as, Romnesia should accept Namibia's rightful sovereignty of its legitimate colonies in the West African region and work forthrightly towards a peaceful solution to the conflict, preferably one enforced by voluntary international peacekeeping forces in the Namib colonies and voluntarily accepted by aforementioned nation considering Romnesia's proven inability to uphold international norms and protocols.

Furthermore, should Romney persist with his absurd claims and continue blockading the west african coast this year and into the next. The Holy See is prepared to consider direct measures against Romnesia along the lines of our ally France and various other states, despite our ordinary reluctance to engage in such measures.

Namibia is an enemy intent on my destruction, and he has settled in my SOI. While I would hate to touch his "sovereign" claims, he knew very well that my SOI was breached when expanding.

I also cannot have such a dreaded enemy within shelling distance of Romnopolis. As much as I hate to do this, my hands are tied. I cannot risk my peoples' safety by letting a vicious war mongering nation persist next to me.

The Holy See notes Romnesia's sophistry, in conveniently side-stepping the matter of its blockade of lands that never belonged to it, which has very little to do with Namibia and the threat of a Namibia being close to Romnesian territory.

We also note that SOI pretensions are utterly invalid in terms of international customary law and exist entirely in the mind of nations that hold such ideas, and in the effects such ideas have in the diplomatic conduct of nations, such as for example in regards to the illicit blockade of Romnesia, or with regards to claims by Poland to lands on the basis they were historically its and the subsequent consequences of that.

Malay, as a state free from the burden of clients and the largest nation in the world pending the end of the Russo-Polish War, has this comment:

Perhaps Romnesia should have settled those territories with its finances rather than forging alliances that it cannot hope to maintain the world over.

The Guided Missile Submarine Solitude has recently been launched. Her first mission, to lead a wolfpack squadron to the Atlantic to stand ready, in the event the bubble of the Atlantic bursts due en part of Romnesia's increasing belligerency. Most noteibally, it's continuing enforcement of a blockade line. The Chief of Naval Operations has placed in an organizational effort of carrier strike groups and submarine wolfpacks at the ready. Meanwhile, in the Solitudian Pentagon, the Joint Chiefs of Staff has raised the DEFCON level to DEFCON 3. Vice Admiral Richardson stated "With the increasing volatility in the Atlantic, I have no choice but to make preparations in the event that Romnesia does not back down on their blockade."

In Congress, debates have swirled on what course of action to take in the Romnesian crisis. Still bitter about Romney's "Sarcasim", many senators and representatives wish to see Romney punish for it's belligerency. "He claims that he's a man of peace, yet he turns around and breaks treaties and insults other nations." stated Senator Rebecca.

the Foundation is amazed at the events of past several years. The big five lose control and everything goes to hell. We hope this year can eventually become less...heated.

Cathisis: We fell much the same. Namibia and Manx were major threats to international peace. With Nambia crippled and Manx under the watchful guidance of the Papal States, we feel that much good has come from this otherwise unfortunate war. However, we can't allow Nambia's current regime to be in charge of a pointy stick, let alone WMDs.

We really wish not to extend this war any further, so we ask Solitude and Japan and all other parties involved in possible military action against Romnesia to come to the table and resolve this peacefully. As a sign of good faith, we offer Solitude and Japan a NAP. Let's sort this out shall we?

The Holy See believes the Spammer proposal is fundamentally naive in that it a) does not provide any framework within which a peace can be met b) does not even attempt to address the fundamental issues of the legitimate namibian colonies, and the illicit Romnesian blockade and c) presumes that its allies speak with the same voice as itself, which we would guess they do not and d) ignores the offences on the part of your allies, such as the breaking of the peace treaty by Romney (thus prolonging the war) and the invasion of Namibia proper by the Blood Empire (which is equivalent to Namibia's invasion of Romnesia in its lack of justification). We urge all parties to peace yes, but one which is not merely the imposition of penalties by one particular side in a messy warfare where both sides are at blame on the other, and one which is likely to promote peace in the future rather than give just reasons for more war in the future.

That the Spammers Crusade appears to be promoting an imperialistic agenda beyond what any other state thus far has admitted for themselves in that you are practically calling for the extermination of a sovereign namibian nation (ooc: having a pointy stick is an integral part of sovereignty) for the benefit of yourself and your allies by isolating it diplomatically from those who are simultaneously opposed to Romnesia's rogueish actions does not convince us that your intentions are good (perhaps you could show they are...), or that a peace at the present time can be made in good faith between both parties. The "peace" the Spammers Crusade is implying is in truth not conductive to international stability in the future, and contravenes any sense of natural justice . Any peace treaty as such must recognise the legitimate rights of Namibia to its de-jure territories, including its legitimate colonies in West Africa, and we note Namibia accepted a peace before Romney broke it, destruction of Romnesia does not seem to have been their intent before Romney's craven peace-breaking, and must include the end of the Romnesian Blockade of territories not under its sovereignty at a bare minimum in order for it to be likely to lead to a lating peace presuming the good will of all parties. Any other "peace" leaves fundamental problems unaddressed and will almost certainly result in future problems.

Cathisis: We are offically lifting the embargo against the Fiefdom of Manx as they are vassals of the Papal States now, who we trust.

The Imperium of Man, ever eager for peace, is to withdrew from the conflict in Namibia and set to peace. We are ever issued that the embargoes on us are lifted for we have suffered the taste of conquest and so wish to avoid the subject of war. We are thankful that the Spammers have lifted their embargo on us. We will be adopting a military defensive policy; we will only go to the wars that the Papal States gets involved in. However we suggest the peoples are reminded that we are still the Imperium of Man, not a mere serve for are clients to the Pope who is above the state.

In relative news this year will see the marriage between Denel Flanagon of Man and Elizabeth of New Zealand. Keep in mind that Ronan Flanagon will be coming of age on the 19th April via his 16th birthday, just as Denel will be 18 on 24th March. Hence we suggest those that desire to get in connection with the Imperial ruling family of Man that they consider a daughture to set to marry Prince Ronan. Keep in mind that we are still a impressive power, whose limits came from the tactical advantage of the Neatherscotts and our humble service to the Lord whose voice is the Pope.

OOC: Actually you need to add the clients of all the majors that are embargoing a nation as well if you wan't to be really precise (or just make a long, impressive list), although I suppose that particular aspect is just assumed when the major patron embargoes someone such as say Romnesia or Namibia.

The UKNZ strongly recommends Australia not attempt to embargo the Romnesians. Although they are free to do as they wish, allowing increasingly less tolerated traders through their ports is certain to be profitable.
