Multipolarity IV Game Thread

Friendly reminder, 15 hours until the lock!

I'll make this my last warning to avoid quadruple posting. :p

I may not be home until the evening tonight, at which point I will review my orders and submit any changes. This may end up a few hours past orders lock, but I simply can't do it any sooner. Sorry.

I'll adjust the lock to 12 hours from now, about 8 PM EST.

I have an essay to do; been putting it off. :p

Iceland-Norway now has military access through Gibraltar.

Now, the arduous task of clearing the rubble!

My essay's mostly done so now I can alternate between it and MP4.

Orders locked.

Should CivGeneral not respond in the next update, Britain shall be liquidated.

Also doing a roll call for GangnamPosse to ensure he truly wishes to join as Transylvania.

Fall of the Jakartese Court

The third revolution being the charm, Jakarta has seen a final rebellion, this time dismantling the Court’s territories into four independent authorities. The Ceylonese unite behind a monarch handicapped by some nobles, and pursue friendly relations with the ex-client state of Jakarta, the Tamils. The powerful merchants of the Court have made themselves known in Singapore, governing most of the Malay peninsula and patterning much of their culture off of the 501st and Hawai’i. Java, once the heart of tyranny and oppression, is now in the throes of a democratic revolution, with workers seizing control of businesses and establishing a strong central government elected by the people at large; they have thus established a federation to rule over many syndicalist corporations and society at large. Finally, the Sumatran nobility are eager to stem the tide of liberalism, and have kept their privileges in the form of a new United Emirates of Sumatra, with each Emir determining the law and order of his polity as he sees fit.

What is most striking, however, is the gaping power vacuum. In a twist of irony, forces once aligned with Spartacus are now becoming the mainstay of politics and security, with many of the new states heavily favorable towards the new Confederacy of the Spartacan Islands to the East. Likewise, many former Jakartese clients are also finding favor with the Spartacans. Whether the new Confederacy established by Spartacus shall thrive or decline, however, remains to be seen. Enriched with the rewards of Jakarta’s legacy without any of the baggage, it could go either way.

Equatorial America Heats Up

Continuing rivalry between North American investors and Argentina plagues most of the equatorial American states. The conflict has particularly heated up as a result of Zeta officials pressuring the Mayan and Nicaraguan governments to cut the amount of troops legally able to stay in the country in half.

Whether the Zetas will ever arrange to deploy their own troops to the region remains unknown.

I am officially out of school. Let's see if we can get this update done by tonight.

American War (Or, Why Wars Will Be Illegal in MPIV)

With its back to the wall, New America launches dozens of missiles; many of them blow up in their silos or do not detonate, however, showing signs of a massive, daring sabotage. One Spartacus mission engages in battle over the Statue of Liberty to keep the hidden silo beneath from firing, in particular. However, six nuclear weapons remain active; while two are reserved for tactical usage, the other four fire and hit the following targets: San Francisco, the Illinois Evacuation Zone, Helsinki, and San Juan. 125,000 Leth, 130,000 Syndicalists, 50,000 Finns, and 124,000 Finns are killed.

===

While the Leth armies remain committed to the Syndicate cause, the Icelandics lose heart and withdraw their naval forces, eliminating the advantage at sea that the Americans had possessed.

682,000 Syndicalists march into New America. 600,000 Leth assist the assault against the Americans. 187,000 professional soldiers are backed by 1.163 million conscripts. Both sides are armed with nuclear implements; while two American bombs go off, twenty-five Syndicalist bombs go off by comparison. Without even firing shots at each other, the losses are staggering: 200,000 New Americans, 9,000 Syndicalists and 8,000 Leth.

1.149 million Americans now stand against the Syndicalist-Leth horde of 1.265 million, having lost their numerical advantage; most of the young conscripts are scared wasteless by the bombings.

60,000 Americans are killed, while 240,000 are captured and interned. 10,000 Leth and 13,000 Syndicalists are killed. Only Maine remains unoccupied; while troops are under orders to push by central command, the New American conscripts threaten to mutiny so most field commanders quietly drop the topic.

100,000 Americans are killed or displaced as a result of the occupation, but of the 3 million New Americans seized this is a paltry number.

757,000 Syndicate sailors fight 50,000 New American sailors.
The Syndicates crush the New America flotilla, placing the last New American province under blockade due to their overwhelming victory. The flow of capital is cut off enormously due to the blockade. The Syndicates kill 40,000 sailors and intern 10,000 others. A mere 1,000 Syndicalists are killed.

===

80,000 American troops march from the Great Plains into Chicago, backed by 20,000 paratroopers.

The Syndicates have 75,000 men present to defend the vast Chicago territory, including against the attempted airborne assault against the capital.

The Americans kill 13,000 Syndicalists, while the Syndicates kill 6,000 and imprison 24,000 more.

The Americans seize much of the northwestern Syndicates, but fall short of the jewel that is Chicagoland. With the economy teetering on the brink of collapse, without a swift victory the Americans cannot hope to hold the territory, their troops already increasing closer to mutiny as supplies dry up. The Americans set up a puppet United Syndicates of America in these territories.

4.5 million Syndicalists are placed under occupation, the brutality of the American forces ensures that 400,000 of them perish, whether from stolen food, brutality, or summary execution.

To be continued...

American War Cont'd: the Leth Front

337,000 New American sailors attempt to go around Tierra del Fuego to reach the Leth West Coast. Breaking off from the main group, however, they are intercepted around the Caribbean by 230,000 Puerto Ricans and 20,000 Aragonese.

The New Americans suffer many blows in the battle. 39,000 Americans are killed; the Puerto Rican navy is under orders to give no quarter and to butcher every single American in retaliation for the bombing of San Juan. The more amicable Aragonese are only able to rescue 1,000 Americans with their small numbers. 15,000 Puerto Ricans are killed, the Caribbean running red.

Despite these losses, the New Americans continue onward to California; they reason they have a better shot at beating the Leth than the horde of Syndicalists they’ve heard are swarming around the Atlantic Seaboard.

Down to 297,000 troops, the New Americans exchange waves with the neutral Argentines as they sail through Tierra del Fuego, eventually making their way to Leth territory… where a mass of 234,000 seamen is eager to receive them.

60,000 Leth are killed, whereas America loses 20,000 Americans are lost.

Only California remains unblocked by New American forces. As with their conquest of northwestern Chicago, however, America is hardly in an economic position to maintain the blockade as Leth forces are sure to regroup.

===

100,000 American soldiers attempt to paradrop into Leth territory while the fleet is busy fighting the Caribbean fleets. 90,000 manage to land in the target zone: California.

Of the Leth 104,000 homeland defense troops, 70,000 are capable of mounting a defense of California.

The Americans kill 15,000 troops, but are beaten. The Leth emerge victorious in the Battle of California, killing 23,000 Americans and capturing all but 5,000 of the rest. There is no report of terrorist activities, however, leaving the Leth to presume the soldiers deserted. The battle does cost the lives of 30,000 Leth civilians, however.

===

Puerto Rico occupies New America and Iceland’s Caribbean islands at minimal loss of 5,000 men. The research team of about a dozen scientists on New America’s island are all murdered in cold blood. They are scalped, with these trophies nailed to a board with a message inscribed in red ink (blood was decided to be over the top), “Hicisteis posible San Juan.” or “You made San Juan possible.”

The Confederate State of America hereby joins the war.

Moreover, we garuntee safe passage through occupied lands and full citizenship in the CSA if any New American citizens or soldiers wish to join our nation.

the Kingdom of Cyprus criticizes New American tactics. why are you launching offensives when you cant even maintain the defense?

what Cyprus would have done is use those troops you committed to the offense, to liberate occupied new American territory, not strike Chicago and the Leth in a hopeless chance of glory.

we also criticize them for numerous blunders. such as launching the nukes strategically. Thank God Spartacus was able to stop most of them.

we also further criticize them for disregarding civilians, by conscripting or killing them.

Cyprus welcomes any New American refugees who are fleeing their homeland from the countries disgusting methods, or fleeing the inevitable (harsh?) occupation of New American lands, since i doubt the syndicalists will create an independent nation there.

How will they get to Cyprus?

The Confederacy is obviously a better choice, due to its thriving economy, powerful military and many job openings, as well as easy access.

Moreover, we kindly ask Cyprus to keep out of the war, due to their comments helping no one and alienating both sides. The occupation will not be harsh, nor will it be lengthy.

That is all.

well obviously. just because i comment a lot doesn't mean that i will join any conflicts.

Cyprus is, well, more neutral than any American state, so...we figured at least some will consider Cyprus. and they can get there by ship, or planes, as civilians.

Cyprus, to put it bluntly, you are an OPM with no place on the world stage, making judgements of the decisions of nations that could crush you like a bug. If you want to experience what it is like to have a coalition of nations attack you for no reason at all with a massed force that you can't possibly meet on even terms on a defensive battleground, we invite you to declare war on Bosnia just like the Roman Empire did, only this time without taking the coward's way out.

OOC: I have already decided to abandon New America after this turn is over and create an NGO. It was announced on chat earlier. It was my plan all along if this turns orders failed to deliver decisive results as they were unlikely to do so to say the least. However Math, please stop the commentary. It is unwelcome and very irritating, not to mention it adds nothing beneficial to the game. Your a OPM or close to it now, and your attention seeking to make up for it is rather bothersome.

OOC: That's why I decided not to comment on anything. I do not make anyone angry and I live in peace and develop my economy. Math, minor powers, and indeed even major powers, should not comment on everything that happens.

OOC: why do you get angry at my comments? that's literally all i can do, you know? i could do the standard role playing, but that would irritate people as well, so i cant do that.

its very boring to be completely silent in everything except where i am concerned. that goes for if i am a major power or if i am an OPM.

I don't say anything and I'm fine.

But you just harshly criticized New America AND the Syndicate alliance.

If you're going to comment, use some tact.

OOC: I am not angry at your comments. I just say that they upset others, who may in turn attack you. Like your comments about Jakarta started a war that ended with humiliating terms.

Innnn other news.

Northern European War

With the stationing of Icelandic soldiers in Denmark, Sweden and Finland do not attempt an invasion. They do nonetheless attack the country’s fleet, the Rhenish fleet also being present in an attempt to bottle up the pro-Syndicate forces in the Baltic. The British intervene in the war as well; wishing to protect the Rhineland, they dispatch 100,000 sailors.

The Finns send 40,000 and the Swedes send 120,000. The Danish fleet stands at 74,000 while the Rhenish fleet stands at 60,000. The British support the latter group with 100,000 of their own.

2,000 Danes and 2,000 Rhenish are killed, but the British involvement makes the battle lopsided: the Finns and Swedes see 40,000 killed in total, with 100,000 captured; the POWs are transferred to work in British labor camps until the war’s end, of course.

As a result of the crushing defeat, the Scandinavians see a blockade of most ports.

Britain also arranges for the Rhenish to tear up their alliance with the New Americans as part of the defense arrangement, though the Rhenish remain at war with the Syndicates and Leth.

French War of Unification

The French Empire fields 308,000 soldiers and 205,000 sailors; the French Republic fields 135,000 soldiers and 135,000 sailors. Intervening are 100,000 British sailors on the side of the Empire.

The naval battle determines the fate of the Republic, as it determines who shall command trade:

The Empire kills 35,000 Republican sailors and captures 100,000; as with the POWs of Germany, they are deported to Britain’s prison camps to work on labor projects. 6,000 Imperials and 3,000 Britons are killed. Crushed so utterly, the French Republic is placed entirely under blockade.

The Empire is ready for overland battles, sending its 308,000 to crush the Republic’s 135,000 professionals and 535,000 conscripts.

The Empire kills 29,000 Republicans and imprisons 60,000 in labor camps. The Republic kills 140,000 Imperials. Despite this prize, however, the French lose much of their territory, confined to the southeastern and northwestern extremes of their realm. Without serious foreign aid, the French Empire shall unite the French people beneath its tyrannical heel – not to mention British suzerainty.

6 million Frenchmen pass under the rule of the French Empire; 300,000 perish between crossfire, dislocation and occupation.

Having completed the part of the update I hate most (wars) and being out of school it's very probable we'll see this done this turn.

Also announcing Britain as being officially open to being taken over next turn if CivG doesn't get back to me.

An OPM guaranteed by Antioch.
