Multipolarity IV Signup Thread

I personally think it's a fair compromise but that's just me... :p

Seriously considering dropping . . . ala MP3. Probably not enough time, lost interest all of a sudden, and the NPCGM, NPC personalities and carp like that is REALLY ruining my enjoyment. Patchy, you want Hawai'i?

Thanks for the offer but considering the rules that nerf island nations into the floor I'll pass.

Tani is there any chance I could perhaps merge some of the NPC's together so that I can achieve a land size of 10 provinces?

I know you said you'd balance the economy out but there is the fact that the smaller you are the quicker it is for warmongers (you know who you are) to conquer you since they have to conquer less land.

It might interest you to know that the Great Plains and the CSA are 10 provinces each. Morocco and the Congo are also 10 provinces if you fancy.

Well I like variety in the nations I play so Great Plains and CSA are out, I just did Tropico in the last MP after all. Morocco is also out since I avoid the clusterf*** that is Europe on principle.

But Congo... It is landlocked but that might be a benefit since I don't have to waste money or manpower on navies and can't really be blockaded unless every nation surrounding me agrees to help in the blockade. I'll take it then.

Deal!

I will be asking Tani on what is to occur with the isles that was under Light's control. There is a temptation to make a NPC of Hawaii but the decision belongs to Tani on that matter.

In the event that LH drops out & Hawai'i is split into NPCs, I would like to drop one of my Southeast Asian provinces & take Taiwan.

Congo is now beneath Patchy!

Hawai'i shall, assuming LH's decision is final:

-Vancouver will be annexed into Cascadia
-Taiwan will be given to the 501st while Rangon will be given to Burma
-Philippines will become their own country
-North Island will default to Eastralia
-New Guinea will become its own country
-Remaining fragments will be organised into the rump state of Hawai'i

The glorious dictatorship of Tayloristan feels it cannot be threatened by announcing its votes, complete with the Dictator's comments!

1: Tayloristan. "Obviously our man can do the job best."
2: Lethian Confederacy. "Close enough platform to get our vote."
3: 501st Legion. "Carefully avoiding promising what the UN's power will be used for? Crafty. Put them as third as a marking of respect."
4: Arstotzka. "Arstotzka. Any nation daring to use a name like that deserves 4th place."
5: Noodle Republic. "Kumbaya, kumbaya..."
6: Golden Horde. "Con...con..sense..." "Consensual, Dictator." "Ah. If I can't understand his platform, put him last." "But Hawai'i is last." "Then put him sixth."
7: Hawai'i. "Dictator, why is Hawai'i last?" "Because they're freaks who live on islands." "Are you sure you're not just wary of their promise to enforce their version of right and wrong on other nations?" "No, it's definitely the former. Freaks get seventh place."

Shrev Taylor wishes good luck to all the candidates on the day of election, coincidentally the same day as the unification celebration.

Well Tani, LH hasn't actually made a decision, he's merely said he's considering it. Thus there is no final or indeed non final decision that has actually been made. Rather LH in a predictable fashion has proclaimed he is considering making a decision at some point in the future that may involve departure from the game.

I'm just setting up a contigency plan in case he does decide to drop is all. :p

Ballots to be counted in 4 hours.

Stalin abstains from voting. Enjoy your capitalist tea-parties and democratic elections. Gross.

I vote we use chai for the tea party.

aww you aren't even going to vote for your socialist brethren? I am of Dissapoint Stalin, Or is my nation to free for you and your communism?

Now's a good a time as any to post stuff about my nation.

The Combined Syndicates of America

Section I: Government

The Combined Syndicates of America, or CSA, is referred to as an Authoritian Union Democracy. Loosely speaking, citizens get to vote for a leader who is then given ultimate authority. However, it is in all actuality more complex than that. At the most basic level, there is in fact the citizen taking part of a vote. However, they do not vote directly for the nation's sole leader. Before getting into details about the happenings of an election, the organization of the federal state must be understood.

At the head of the CSA sits the Head of State and Government, the "Dictator." This title is used in the Roman definition; the dictator is in power so long as the crisis of the oppression of the workers of the world are still ongoing. The person holding office is also referred to at times as the "President" or some such as there is no real official name for the head of state and government of the CSA.

Serving under the leader of the CSA is a kind of Parliament of sorts. This Parliament is actually made up not of individual people or representatives, but of several whole industrial unions. The Parliament has no direct power over the federal government, but is simply there to advise the head of state and government of the concerns of the workers. They may put together bills and other institutions for the head of state and government to consider, given it has significant popular approval. However, when it comes time to choose a new leader, the decision rests with the Parliament in power at the time. While the new leader is being selected, the government is more decentralised and the Parliament puts national decisions to vote.

The Parliament of Unions, or the Grand Coalition as it is officially named, is structured by industrial unions. In the Grand Coalition, there are a number of industrial unions equal to the number of recognized broadly-defined industries. Industries are defined as a number of at least 10 different trades working towards the same broad goal, such as the production of food or the research of scientific endeavors. The industrial unions cooperate and decide, based on the concerns of the workers, how to solve domestic issues. Generally, all bills and institutions are put to a vote in the Grand Coalition to ensure that it is generally in the people's interest before being handed to the leader, but if the leader wishes to enact it regardless if a vote for it is even held, he may.

The courts and national security in general, right down to city police, are ran by the military under the ultimate command domestically of the leader. Disclaimer: generally, the leader lets the generals make the regions regarding warfare but generally gets into domestic issues. The courts are ran by military judges, like said before. However, rather than imprisonment as the old ways of the American States were, they are put into high-security correctional facilities regardless of crime if found guilty, and the court assumes innocent until proven guilty. Investigations are also done by the military, but may work in conjunction with civilian militias.

In other news, gave the Leth a RaceLift species change for no good reason. :)

The Union polls have closed. Clerks are busily counting the electoral results, cast from 11 of the world's leading nations. While East Germany and Mongolia have abstained, it is from these 11 nations that the future leader of the Union shall be decided.

Spoiler :
Round one:

Arstotzka – 30,000,000
Tayloristan – 10,000,000
Leth - 30,000,000
Golden Horde – 20,000,000
501st – 10,000,000
Noodle Republic – 10,000,000

With the elimination of the 501st and Noodle Republic, the election could rapidly swing.

Round two:

Arstotzka – 30,000,000
Leth - 30,000,000
Golden Horde – 30,000,000
Tayloristan – 20,000,000

Tayloristan is eliminated!

Round three:

Leth - 50,000,000
Arstotzka – 30,000,000
Golden Horde – 30,000,000

The Leth take the lead, with all of Tayloristan’s votes transferring to them. As eliminating the two lagging competitors would result in a Leth victory, votes for Arstotzka and the Golden Horde are to be recounted factoring in if either was eliminated and determining who gets second place accordingly.

Were Arstotzka eliminated:

Leth - 60,000,000
Golden Horde – 50,000,000

Were the Golden Horde eliminated:

Leth – 70,000,000
Arstotzka – 40,000

The Leth will obtain a majority regardless of who is eliminated; Sigmund Bertram of the Leth Confederacy is now Secretary-Elect of the Union of Nations!

Lobbyists state that one of Secretary Bertram's first priorities should be establishing clear tie-breaking rules to avoid such a conundrum in the future. Others say no one will care.

Tani, where was Hawaii?

Those are the results in the event of LH's dropping. Should he not drop, I will do a recount. :p

The Noodle Republic would like to congratulate Sigmund Bartram on his election as General Secretary. We would also like to note that we will support any effort to clear up the tie breaking rules in case of another tie, we believe that there should be clear laws in events such as these.
