Hello. Just feel like showin' off. :D

Here is the first city for this thread.

Feel free to post comments, tips, etc.

The city is Pollution City. It lives up to its name, as it was intended to do: pollution everywhere. She has just celebrated her 3950th birthday. You can tell that I'm using a different tile set.

One thing I did notice was that the land values were a bit high for a polluted city.

Every ordinance have been activated EXCEPT for gambling, city beautification, nuke-free zone (nukes are a necessity), and pollution controls.

The only powerplants EVER used in this city are coal plants, and there are a lot of them.

Well, here's some tips for maximizing pollution:
Don't enact ordinance or traffic reducing ordinances
Start in 1900 and build as fast as possible with low education to ensure you attract polluting industries
Lower industry taxes to zero to maximize industry-Res & Comm Ratio
Place industry at the center of the map and your water supply at the edge
Avoid all empty spaces and parks

Here's my favorite industrial city, Port Perfecion, though it was built just to maximize industry (and the industrial look) not to maximize polllution

Here is Pollution city in July 7777. Lucky number 7! :D

Notice that the apartment buildings surrounding the State Tower (the giant blue building) have been there since this city's early days. They're thousands of years old!

My city is in water pump hell! I built loads and loads of water pumps, but still, the city doesn't have the water. Yes, I HAVE connected every single building. Can someone help?

Yes, ALL of the water on the map is SALT water. Not a single ounce of fresh water anywhere.

I've always wondered: How the hell do I get employees for the Mayor's House?!
When you build the Mayor's House you get a random number of employees and no doorstops, then every year one employee turns into a doorstop. It's evil cruel and playful, I like it!

How can cheating turn water to salt? I figured that it would be because of the passage of time.

nope you get it by typing in "salt on"

Edit: Actually now that I think about it, you can also do it with the right combination of raise terrain lower terrains in the predit window.

Oh and the obligitory pic:

I tried typing salt on, but it didn't work, so it probably depends on what your version of sc2000 is...

Is there a cheat to turn OFF the salt?
You know what now that I think of it, that's a code for Sim City 3000.

Anyways here's another cool pic:

(I have the really old Sybex guide for this game, even though, for reasons inexplicable, I only recently got the game.)

Hint: I read that:
1. Placing an ordinary pump next to salt water only gives you half as much as fresh water,
2. That a pump surrounded completely by water will produce 8x as much as a pump only bordering 1 sqyuare, and
3. A desal plant will take 4x the amount of water from salt water as a pump.

Might help :D
