Bangalore: As CBob mentioned, 6 archers should be enough to take Bangalore. Is that the last Indian city?

The rSword: The "conventional wisdom" is not to build regulars, but I think you needed the additional sword more than you needed to follow conventional wisdom. Hopefully, Yahya burned out the bad RNG mojo for a while, but you can never be sure.

Chengdu: (Is that the name of the chokepoint city? ) Have walls finished there? I noticed that a library was under construction there, but I'd finish the walls first and get a spear from somewhere, assuming that no, or very few, shields will be wasted in the switch. That way, in the event of a Chinese-Zulu war, the choke is more likely to hold while you kill off any Zulu inside your empire.

Northen Wolf, I think you're on the right track here. The AI won't demand gold from you that you don't have. Obviously, you don't want to leave yourself with a negative treasury, and you want to be able to afford stuff that you need. But I'd rather spend my gold on research than give it to an AI to spend on research. As CBob has also mentioned, though, the dynamics of deficit spending change with the switch to a cash-rush government.

Speaking of which, has a decision been reached as to where you're headed in terms of government? Republic or Monarchy?

No, but I support republic, we are not on pangea or in cont. war situation. And we will be alone on our continent meaning more science has to be studied in our towns.

Excellent turn log, Northen Wolf! At this stage of the game every move is still important, especially with aggressive Zulus to our north. Documenting every single worker task and unit move is a lot of work. I know; I've done it before. And it is helpful, too, especially when you explain why you do something. It is a timekiller, logging everything, and can stretch a five minute turn into 30 minutes of logging.

In SGOTM 09, in my first SGOTM and 2nd game at Monarch, one set of 10 turns took 18 hours over several days to play and log. Was that too long? Probably. Was I sure of what I was doing? Nope. Do I regret the time spent? No, not really. Back then I was still afraid of the game at Monarch. That lead to a lot of analysis of every move, plus consulting with the notes of the other team members. I was not always sure of what was the right thing to do and I wanted to avoid doing anything (more) wrong.

Now I find it very hard to play a game and not have a turn log, even in a solo game. :crazyeye:

Good job on getting a Leader. We'll be at war with the Zulus rather soon, probably within 30 turns, so my first thought is to build an Army and fill it with Swords. That may not be the best idea, but it is good starting place for discussion.

India is gone (:dance:) and we have the Zulus blocked. We have a lot of land to fill and we need to do that rather quickly. And build up our military to take on the Zulus. They won't be as easy as India.

We also need to revolt out of Despotism. We should do that in the next turnset, but maybe not right away. Unit support is what we need to consider; that can affect when we change.

Do we know Monarchy? I don't recall us learning it, so our government choices might be limited to Republic.

I'm torn between forbbiden palace and an Army.
As Forbidden place - gives us second core= faster expansion and overall better econ.
As an army - Victorious army= Heroic epic = more leaders.

I'd say we use the leader for the army. We will possibly get another leader in the battle with Shaka, and we can use him to rush the FP if we want. Also, we don't need the FP as badly as an army right now, for the impending attack on the Zulu.

From everything I've read in this thread, I'd say Republic as government. I personally like Monarch, but I might have been swayed by recent arguments. For the record, we don't have Monarchy. We are either on Mysticism or Polytheism on that line.

lurker's comment: I'd suggest using the MGL for an army. I don't recall how many cities the Zulu have, but my hunch is that you can absolutely wreck Shaka's empire with a sword army at this stage. Before flight, the AI won't attack an army unless the army is already badly wounded or left inside a city that the AI wants. (See one miserable turnset in Phaedo01 by yours truly for evidence of that. :blush: ) That means that you can hide some cats and all those eArchers under the army and they'll be safe. That should open up more opportunities for leader-fishing, the Heroic Epic and, consequently, more leaders.

lurker's comment: In C3C, The FP's effects don't quite go as far as making a second core- it justs reduces corruption to 0 in the city it's built in and has an overall lessening corruption effect on your empire, but it is in no way a second core.

And whatever happened to pink clover?
